The Door and Window Consultants

We have contracted the replacement of all of our windows, sliding patio doors, entrance doors and security screen doors with Randy and the his employees at The Door and Window Consulting firm. They have always been punctual, cleaned up the job site every day and installed all of our items in the most professional manner. They are more than a company that installs doors and windows — they have become friends and people that we highly recommend to all of our friends. I just had the windows along the front of my house replaced by The Door & Window Consultants and am extremely pleased with the whole project. Randy was very helpful in the initial stage of ordering and receiving my windows. Victor and Carlos, who did the complete installation, were hard working, reliable, a pleasure to have around and, above all else, did quality work. The communication between myself and the office was excellent and I always knew ahead of time what was going to happen and when. The follow up with Randy was spot on and much appreciated. From beginning to end I felt I was well taken care of by people who respected me, the quality of their work and their fellow employees. I would highly recommend The Door and Window Consultants and would defiantly use them for my next window or door project.

Randy Berger and his crew have worked on 2 of my houses over the past decade — replacing doors and windows and doing specialty woodwork. What I am impressed the most about and makes me a multiple repeat customer is how committed he is to stand by his work. His craftsman, Julian is amazing — very diligent, exacting and fast — worth requesting.

We had two wooden windows replaced, including the frames which were set in stucco. The work was done efficiently, perfectly, and on time and on budget. I had thought that one of the windows was almost inaccessible due to its location over a roof three stories up. The other was a second story window. The employees were experienced and knew exactly how to approach the situations. I would highly recommend the company.

I would highly recommend Randy Burger and his excellent team for window and door replacement. I had 12 windows and 4 doors replaced, interior french doors added, the original front door replaced with a window and the biggest challenge was a floor to ceiling 9 foot picture window replaced with beautiful entry way french doors with side lights. The work was challenging trying to fit new windows and doors into the old openings of my 1949 home. I was home everyday to watch the progress and the skill and craftsmanship I witnessed was amazing. The crew was very professional, kept to the schedule, cleaned up everyday, and was pleasant to work with. Also, Kayla at Doors etc was excellent in helping me make design choices. I would highly recommend having this company.

I replaced all the windows and doors in my 1972-​built University City home before putting it on the market. I was very pleased with the results, and wish I had done it years before. I obtained a few estimates, and Randall Burger and The Door and Window Consultants was the best bid. I enjoyed working with Randall, who was very prompt with all communications, and always picked up the phone. His crew came out and replaced all the windows in a day. The back door from the master bedroom to the deck was not standard size, so Randall constructed a custom door frame, and he and his crew installed and painted it. This probably took more effort and time than he expected in his estimate, but he completed the job per the original quote. (Installation for 4 windows, 1 slider door, and 1 custom-​built french door was less than ½ the cost of materials.) His crew was very pleasant, and it looks like they’ve worked together for a long time.
Outside of this particular contractor, I’d also recommend replacing the old, single-​pane aluminum home windows and doors with the new, double-​pane Argon-​filled energy saving replacement windows. At first, I was afraid that the retrofit replacement windows would be worse than «new-​construction» windows. But they look perfect, and I wouldn’t even call them retrofit. They pull out the old windows, and put it new ones into the openings. And the difference is like night and day. They make a huge improvement in the appearance of the house, from both outside and inside. They insulate noise from the street, and the house is noticeably quieter. They also probably cut energy costs a lot (I sold the house, so I didn’t verify this).
Of course, replacing all your doors and windows isn’t cheap, but its worth it. The good thing is that you’ll get a Federal tax credit of 30% of the costs of materials (file Form 5695 for that tax year), so think of it as a 30% discount on your materials. Check into it, but it’s also possible that your energy savings over a few years will pay back a significant portion of these improvement costs. Also, if you sell the house, the chances are you’ll probably have to make this improvement anyways. So you might as well enjoy the better windows while you’re living in the house.
