The Hidden Spa

I asked for a deep tissue and was told there would be an added cost, which I was fine with. Throughout the massage, I attempted to give the therapist active feedback to go deeper, but she did not. I communicated this on at least 5 occasions and even specified the areas. Upon completion, I felt the massage was very unbalanced (hit one side more than the other) and several key areas were simply «missed» with the excuse that she had to go deeper and therefore it took longer on certain areas. I let the receptionist know I wasn’t thrilled with the massage and explained the above. She apologized and stated a manager would be in contact with me to perhaps offer a return trip and see if I enjoy the massage more. It’s been more than 2 weeks and no one has bothered to reach out. Shame…

After a stressful week, I came here for a nice relaxing facial. I booked the European facial only a few hours before the appointment which was great and it was very reasonable priced! The facial itself was pretty good, with nice smelling serums and creams and some gentle extractions, and I definitely came out feeling refreshed with glowing skin.
My two issues with my visit were
1. The European facial has massage listed as part of the service. I received a very light hand massage– no scalp or shoulders
2. The employees were talking to each other very loudly outside the room and i could hear every detail of their conversation throughout the entire hour. It didn’t provide for a relaxing environment and looking through their other reviews, it seems to be a common problem
I’ll definitely try another spa in OB for my next one

I was really needing a good massage, one that would actually help the tension in my muscles as well as provide a relaxing experience. I’m tired of going to those cheap asian «massages» where they don’t listen to you or understand what you may be asking; and all they do is go through the same routine with everyone. It took some research, but i’m only in San Diego for a few weeks for work so I needed to be sure my money would be well spent. I called a few minutes after they opened and asked if they had anything available the same day, to which I was able to book for 2pm.
Amber was my masseuse, I was asked to fill out a form (which is also a sign of a legit spa) of which followed. I am a chef, I work 10+hours on my feet as well as put a lot of strain on my right arm and shoulders. I had opted for the swedish massage as I wanted to feel relaxed as well as work on my stress. She was able to work out the pain in my shoulders of which I have had for a few months, she also spent a while on my feet as well which was awesome! The whole massage was so amazing that I think I fell asleep. I definitely will make another appointment for another massage before I go back to the east coast.

This is the only place I will go to for a massage. It has been years and I decided what a great way to start the new year. I was referred to get massage from Danielle. She is awesome. I had hour and half Swedish massage with warm stones. It was amazing. So relaxing and possibly what heaven is like. Danielle is so sweet and definitely knows what she’s doing. I did not realize how much tension I had. She worked deeply in the areas I needed. My upper back/​shoulder area were so tense. After treatment from Danielle. I am on cloud nine. I really think I will need to come back on a regular basis.

I have been a customer of The Hidden Spa for three years and continue to be completely surprised by the quality and friendliness of all the employees. From the front desk attendant to the massage to the exit, the entire process is well controlled and the ambiance is perfect. My wife and I visited today. I got a 90 minute massage while my wife got a facial and 60 minute massage. I had Meli who is just utterly amazing!!! Hands down the BEST massage I have ever had. Usually, Deep Tissue massages are pretty rough and you are left sore. Oh man! Not today. It was the perfect cross between a Swedish and Deep Tissue. If you have a chance and are up for the greatest level of comfort while working out all the knots, Meli is your person! She is GREAT! (thank you Meli!!!) You know it is good when you can barely stand up due to jelly legs! :)
My wife also raved and praised her experience with Patty and Amber. She also had many long time muscle knots worked out. The whole team at The Hidden Spa are great. A perfect way to bring in the new year! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2016!!!
The only difficulty can be parking, but that is not the spa’s fault. That is just city planning. Make sure to get in between peak hours. We were in at 1:00pm and had front door parking. There is also a small parking lot next door and at the end of the block (about 40 steps away) for a fee.

So I think we can all agree that getting a Brazilian wax isn’t the highlight of our month, right? Well, ladies, I’ve found a hidden gem in the waxing world and her name is Leah! I almost hate to write this review because I worry that getting an appointment with her will be rough but, alas, I must share because she really is THAT awesome. Leah not only waxes with precision but she makes it almost pain free. Pain free Brazilian wax? Yes I said it. Whatever she does, whether it’s her gift for gab combined with her crazy years of experience, leah is absolutely the best in the biz. She’s quick and thorough and leaves me smooth and hair free for weeks. I searched for years and went through many trials with different waxers to know she’s seriously the best. I’m so excited to have found her! She does great brows too. Go, run, to her! You won’t be sorry.

Other than the mani/​pedis and the occasional appointments at the hair salon, I am not one to pamper myself. I’ve had a couple massages in my life, and probably only get 1 – 2 facials per year. My cousin was coming to town and I decided it was time for a girls’ day… lunch by the beach and then some pampering!
They have a «spa party» package that can be for 2 – 4 people and costs $ 99 per person which includes a 40 minute massage, a 40 minute facial, a dessert and a glass of champagne. I liked the private waiting area and then the private «party» area where you and your guest can sit, chat, enjoy your dessert and sip your champagne. Though it is fun to be in the treatment room with friends, I got very relaxed and did not use that time to chat… but we had plenty of time to chat afterward with our champagne. Our facial and massage were great… we were only disappointed when they were over. I liked how they asked up a little bit about what we wanted in the beginning, and then were quiet so we could relax.
The spa itself is a couple blocks from the beach and is convenient located if you are running errands in OB. It is a cute spa and is professionally run. My cousin and I talked about making this a tradition when she comes to visit!

This place is definitely a gem. Patty did my facial and my mom got a half body massage for a girls’ day out on my birthday. I had never had a spa treatment of any kind before, and Patty definitely made it worthwhile. It was so relaxing and I was extremely comfortable, and I was in and out of sleep — and that’s just a facial! — they also give you complimentary mimosas or cider while you wait, and it’s a cozy vibe inside as well.

I hope she’s okay, and I really do want to see how their nail treatments are the next time I come in. My mom treated me out so I don’t have any ideas on pricing, but I do want to treat my fiancé out to this place one time. I recommend to anybody who’s looking for amazing customer service and a time to unwind. (And to treat yourself!!)

It was okay. It seemed like one of the more popular spas in SD, so it had been on my list for quite awhile.
— The parking is crappy. I’m not familiar with the area and maybe I didn’t look hard enough, but I ended up having to pay $ 10 in the nearby lot and I was only there 1.5 hours.
— As I waited to check in, 2 of the employees were standing at the counter bickering back and forth about a 3^rd employee with whom there’d been a scheduling conflict/​miscommunication. I felt that was a bit unprofessional and the conversation should have been held beyond earshot of the customers. Clients come to spas to relax, and the atmosphere at the counter was definitely not relaxed.
— The spa massage itself was great; the mimosa and dessert were delicious. Prices were acceptable.

I had an excellent Swedish massage with hot stone treatment from Taylor. She was really effective in working out all my kinks while maintaining a very friendly and pleasant tableside manner. Too bad I don’t live in San Diego otherwise I’d be back here on a regular basis.

I found this place by Unilocal and I always trust my Unilocal reviews. It was amazing. I’ve gone here like 3xs already. Though it is a drive from home but its worth a girlfriends getaway. All my bookings here have been for couples massage with the girls.
Relaxing environment but literally down the street from Ocean Beach. Parking is easy. However there’s a bunch of beach bums hanging out so I try to park as close to establishment as possible. My go-​to girl is Gwen. She’s got the magic touch. Shes always so on point with how to relax my tense workaholic muscles. I tend to squirm when she has to take a knot out but I let her know if it has to go, let it go. We always have a fun time, she’s friendly and personable. The front desk staff is overall cool, however I had this one staff member forget to tell me the price of a certain nail polish I wanted to buy. I love this place. The price is affordable and I look forward to returning to this establishment when I’m in town. :)

I came here with my BF a few months ago and all staff was very welcoming. We were offered mimosas and dessert while we waiting for our massage. It was our first massage so we didn’t know what to expect. The staff made us feel really comfortable.
Additionally, I got a deep conditioning treatment and I wish I remembered the name of the hair stylist. .. I think it was Lizy?. .. And she was fantastic! She made me feel very welcome. My blow out looked amazing! AND she gave me samples of bair product and tips on how to keep my hair healthy.
While I was getting my hair done my bf had a facial. He has very sensitive skin and this was made known to the staff and therefore reason why I requested a customized facial for him. He came out RED so I am not sure whether the facial was actually customized at all or not. The facial didn’t seem to do anything for him either so this was really the only let down because everything else was otherwise enjoyable.

A friend treated me to a massage here with Ashlee and it was the best deep tissue massage I’ve ever had! And I can be a little picky. I was extremely impressed with her ability to release my muscles. I will go back here and highly recommend Ashlee. It also has a nice, calming atmosphere.

I came here with my MOH’s the day before my wedding. We got the $ 80 package that came with a 60min massage, head and foot scrub and desserts with champagne. The 3 of us thoroughly enjoyed our massages. Perfect amount of pressure and definately what we needed. We did book a room that could fit all 3 of us in there. and that is what drew us to this spot. But day of, we weren’t put into one room. We said we booked the room that would fit the 3 of us and that’s when they told us that the big room was getting renovated and the paint was still drying. It was a bummer and I wish they told us that beforehand. But regardless, it was a good experience. And very clean too.

I really enjoyed this place! Brought my fiancé for a just-​because date and we loved it. We got the couple’s massage which came with a 50 minute Swedish massage with light-​medium pressure. I loved that it came with a foot scub! The place looks small coming in but their facility is actually pretty big. The ambiance is nice & relaxing. They serve mimosas and little desserts. They were running a little behind with their appointments so we didn’t get seen until about 15 minutes after our scheduled time but that was okay because they bumped us up to a hot stone massage for free! Our therapists were very nice. We will be coming back!
OB, however, is a very crowded place so plan for travel time and the heavy traffic. Parking is limited. We were lucky to find street parking but there is a parking lot where you can pay, I believe it was $ 10. It’s also close to a few shops and and really a great boba, smoothie & froyo spot.

Not impressed with this place at all. I’ve gotten a couples massage and a mani/​pedi here and I have to say I was pretty disappointed with both. Don’t be fooled by the prices because the service you get reflects the cheap prices. More recently I got a mani pedi and the manicure was terrible! The light pink color was splotchy and when I said something about it to the gal doing my nails, she said not to worry, that the top coat is a «miracle product» and would even out all the splotchy parts. She also didn’t let the color dry before she globed on a ton of top coat so when everything finally dried, all my nails have bubbles on them. Well a day later it’s still very splotchy and lumpy, and some nails are even starting to peel. I am going to take off the polish and paint my nails myself. Needless to say I will never return here for any service no matter how good the prices seem.

My husband and I just left here from getting a couples massage. It was amazing! They give you a little plate of desserts and mimosas to start. They finish the massage with a peppermint foot scrub which unfortunately I couldn’t enjoy just because I’m ticklish.
Sydney, my masseuse was so good! It’s like she knew my problem areas without me telling her. My husband had Monica and she was excellent and provided him with the firm massage he needed.

Wow so glad I found this place and followed my fellow Unilocal in trying this place out. I decided to try this place because if the great reviews it had!
Booked my reservations for 2 for a couple massage for my boyfriend and I. This was our very first massage ever and we were pretty excited!
It’s such a great location as the beach is one block away from it! You can take a little nice walk after you finish your nice massage! Parking does suck. It’s street parking. Free for 2 hours or pay $ 5-​$ 10 for parking.
Once we walked in, we were greeted by the receptionist. We checked in, asked us if we needed to use the bathroom. Which you should because you don’t want to get up and put on your clothes to go pee. We filled out some paperwork and they offered us water, tea or mimosas in a nice relaxing room. Pretty cool.
After that you are lead into a room and the therapist will introduce themselves and then have you take off your clothes (butt naked is recommended but don’t have to if your not comfortable with taking off your undies as they explained).
Couples massage was $ 140 that includes 50 mins massage, foot scrub to end and some nice desserts and drinks. Not bad. We both really enjoyed our massages and my BF’S therapist was able to untie his knots that he had in his shoulders. I seriously fell asleep.
We really enjoyed our stay at the hidden spa and would really recommend it to anyone! We would come back next time we are in san diego.

Been here multiple times already for couples massages with my girlfriend. It just happens so that about every time I come here, I get the same person, which is good. I don’t know if they have other males among the staff. Maybe at least one other. But the one I usually see (Bryon) is great. I don’t have to worry about having a completely different person figuring out my dilapidated body from the very beginning.
Usually, you get a little beverage prior to your massage. The place is almost like a maze of tiny rooms, a bit tough to find my way. That’s exactly why I wouldn’t even dare wander around.
Staff is professional and attentive.
They take SpaFinder gift cards if you happen to have them. It’s also important to make an appointment. I personally have never simply walked in, so I don’t know how accommodating they can be in that situation. I wouldn’t risk it, honestly.
Parking may require an extra bit of attention. You can always pay for parking at a lot immediately next-​door, but it’s also free to find street parking and take a short walk over. You don’t necessarily need to drive too far. Just away from Pizza Port, and landing a spot directly on Santa Monica Ave is jackpot if you are lucky enough.

My right pec, back, and shoulder was really tense and tight to the point where I was in constant pain. I needed a massage-​pronto. I figured if I’m going to get a massage, I might as well treat my man to one too. So I started research places for couple’s massages.
After research, I decided to come to Hidden Spa. They had last minute availability and the price wasn’t bad at all. I called to book an appointment (you can also book appointments online). The girl helping was very helpful and prompt.
I scheduled a massage for 5:15 PM. They told me to arrive about 5 – 10 minutes beforehand to fill out some paperwork. We got there at 5PM on a Thursday. Parking was bad at all, but considering the day and time, I couldn’t imagine that it would be. I’m sure the later it gets and on the weekends, the parking will be a little bit more difficult. They don’t have a lot, it’s all street parking.
We checked in, the receptionist escorted us the waiting room. We were given champagne and desserts.
They also have water and tea while you wait.
After filling out our forms and waiting about 10 minutes or so, our masseuses came in to take us to our room.
As we walked through, I realized the spa was a lot bigger than I had expected. They have quite a few rooms– all very clean.
When it came to massage time, I let my masseuse know my trouble areas. She worked on them throughout my massage. Even with my back so tight and in pain, I was able to relax. Don’t get me wrong, there were some times where it was almost unbearable, simply because my muscles were tender to touch, but she was great at checking in on me, making sure the pressure was right, and that I felt comfortable. The massage was an hour long with a peppermint foot scrub at the end. My only suggestion is that the music during the massage be turned up a bit. It was almost a little too quiet for me
Once the massage was over, I instantly felt better. My muscles were loosened up, my movement was improved– I was back in action! She came me some tips and stretches to do to prevent from getting that tight and knotted up again.
For a 1 hour couples massage which included the champagne, dessert, and peppermint foot scrub, the total came to $ 140.00 before gratuity. Definitely the best price you can get for that! For a 2 hour couples massage, it’s $ 200.00– which is usually what you get for half the time at other places.
I will definitely be back! We enjoyed our massages and it was a great way to spend time together and relax. Online booking, pricing, cleanliness, great services– Hidden Spa has got it down!
