The Placenta Whisperer specializes in customized placenta encapsulation preparation. Owned by a San Diego area midwife & nurse and a licensed acupuncturist, we use our great understanding of Traditional Chinese Medicine’s herbal formulations and of the traditional medicinal uses of the human placenta and combine them with our skilled preparation driven by our passion and reverence for the placenta as the sacred bridge between mother and child.

Each and every placenta is handled with the utmost love, respect, reverence and care as befitting this amazing, unique organ.

With every placenta encapsulation, we include a print of your placenta and the preservation of the umbilical cord as a keepsake.

Also included with your placenta encapsulation package is a consultation with our licensed acupuncturist/​traditional Chinese herbalist who will choose a set of herbs which will be infused into your placenta during preparation in order to meet your specific postpartum needs.

History

Established in 2013.

The Placenta Whisperer was formed in response to the rising demand for placenta encapsulation in the past few years by postpartum mothers. While there were an exponentially growing number of encapsulators here in San Diego and a growing number of training certifications that called their work Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) inspired, we felt that our in-​depth training in TCM (as a CA Licensed Acupuncturist) allowed us to offer a placenta encapsulation service that is not ‘one-​size-​fits-​all’ in its preparation. We could use our training in TCM to create placenta encapsulations that were designed to meet each mother’s specific postpartum needs. TCM has documented the use of the human placenta as a medicinal substance for over 1200+ years, and we wanted to offer the mothers of San Diego all that these 1200+ years of wisdom had to offer.

Business Owner

Airalia is an Intern Midwife trained through the Nizhoni Institute of Midwifery. Airalia works under Marla Hicks, RN-​BC, CPM, LM in their homebirth midwifery practice. She is a California Licensed Vocational Nurse with a strong background in hands-​on patient care. Airalia is an accomplished herbalist who uses this knowledge to provide treatment to her clients and to support their well-​being throughout the pregnancy and postnatal period. As a Certified Yoga Teacher, she specializes in prenatal yoga and uses this to help her pregnant clients stay centered and relaxed in their ever changing bodies. Airalia is a placenta encapsulation specialist and offers this service to all of her clients as well as any mother seeking this service in San Diego County. Airalia worked side-​by-​side with Robin Lim, CNN’s 2011 Hero of the Year, delivering 23 babies as an apprentice midwife in Bali at Robin’s birth center, Yayasan Bumi Sehat.
