The Wellness Source

I went to see this acupuncturist as a recommendation from my Pain Specialist. Acupuncture care is excluded from my medical coverage. I saw that there was a deal on Unilocal so I called ahead of time. The receptionist advised that deal was no longer valid (yet it is still on the site over 6 months later). However, they did have a cash price of $ 60 per visit for patients without insurance coverage. During my visit, Bertram immediately recommended 2 visits per week for at least 3 weeks. Mind you, this accident was NOT my fault so paying out of pocket was already a hassle for me. They were unwilling to bill the insurance company directly. When I was checking out, I was told my bill was around $ 258.00. There was an initial consultation fee (which was not mentioned when I called). To top it off, they tried to charge me the price they would have charged the insurance. I explained that this coverage was excluded from my benefit so it was not an insurance claim. Bertram then came out and tried to BS me with a big smile «Since it’s part of a medical settlement, we bill it like an insurance claim.» Of course, I didn’t agree with that. So he then tried to act like a good guy by saying, «Since there was a misunderstanding, we will honor the price we quoted you: $ 75.» Um, actually they quoted me $ 60. At that point, I was so annoyed that I just paid the $ 75. I knew that the insurance company would’ve never approved the $ 150 treatments. I never went back and actually found another acupuncturist who did not bill me directly. If I continued treatment with Bertram, I would have ended up paying for everything out of pocket. I would not recommend this place. They are dishonest and just trying to rip patients off.

I came to Bertram with severe stomach issues, mainly that I didn’t produce enough stomach acid to break down my food. With the help of acupuncture and his awesome chinese herbs, that really work, I feel so much better! He always knew exactly what to prescribe to me and I’m so lucky to have found him. His front desk staff is always so friendly and they always confirm my appts. Bertram really does know what he is doing. Go to him if you want results. He is friendly and funny and he always makes you feel comfortable.

I injured my back a year and a half ago and was still suffering from sciatica and the inability to do the activities i love to do. I was pretty depressed and beginning to think my situation was hopeless when my spine specialist recommended Bertram. I have had acupuncture many times in the past but it always seemed to be a quick fix. My pain would return within the next couple of days after treatment.
My experience with Bertram has been exceptional from the beginning. He is a very warm, caring and knowledgeable professional. Because my back pain was mostly on my left side due to a bulged disc, he had me lay on my right side for the treatment, which was a new experience for me. After my first treatment my sciatica was gone. I have been seeing him for about a month now and am blown away by the progress we’ve made. I have very little back pain and have been able to get back into working out. Words cannot express how grateful I am to have met Bertram. He truly is a healer!

I’ve been with The Wellness Source for a few years now and I am so pleased with the experience that I have had. I recently developed a minor, but uncomfortable case of sciatica and Bertram was able to help me find a great amount of relief for my issue. It rarely flares up now and if I ever do start to feel it creep up on me I can always count on him to make it go away! He also has such a great presence about him and makes you understand the Chinese medicine diagnosis and feel really comfortable with the process! I have been a patient of Bertram’s for the last several months (after a 6 year hiatus due to unforeseen circumstances) and I wished during those years that I could go back to see him. Over the last several months, he has helped me with MANY issues, both physical, emotional and physiological. I have had asthma for the last 22 years and have never been treated by Bertram specifically for asthma symptoms until today. I had a bad asthma attack over the weekend, went to an urgent care facility and got the traditional nebulizer breathing treatment and was sent on my way with a prescription of predisone. All should be well, right? WRONG! Three days later I am still having pretty bad symptoms, very short of breath, frequently having to use my inhaler, light headed, anxious, etc. I was thinking of going back to urgent care for another nebulizer treatment if I wasn’t much better by this evening. Thankfully, I already had an appointment with Bertram and going to urgent care was not necessary. Right after he finished taping in the needles, I started feeling better before he even left the room. During my resting time, I was actually able to re-​gain a normal breathing rhythm and was able to take several deep, cleansing breaths, something I was unable to do for the last 3 days!
If you have been thinking about trying acupuncture but are a little unsure, I say take a leap of faith and DO IT! Go see Bertram for a consultation, he genuinely cares about each and every person who walks through the door. He gets to the root of your aches and pains and helps you to fix them! Lauren the office manager is pretty awesome too!

I’ve been a patient of Bertram Furman’s «The Wellness Source» for several years. I initially found him after seeking relief for a back injury I had suffered during a downhill ski trip. When weeks of physical therapy failed to improve my ailing back, and figuring I had little to loose, I turned to acupuncture. With Bertram’s vast knowledge and expertise in not only Chinese medicine, but also with his deep insight into Western approaches, he set me up with an acupuncture treatment plan that within a very short time made me feel 100% better!
I soon realized then that I had clearly experienced the benefits of regular acupuncture, and although I consider my initial back injury 100% cured, I continue to see Bertram once a month for «maintenance», meaning I walk in and can be treated for whatever is ailing me at the time. Could be a cold, monthly cycle, insomnia, another sports injury, you name it. Sometimes my treatment just makes me feel better in general, calm and focused. Even when the economy tanked, acupuncture was the one thing I would not give up, because I realize how valuable and incredibly beneficial it is to my health and well being. Bertram knows exactly what it is that I need each and every time. He is also a caring and wonderful individual that listens with genuine interest and concern.
I also want to mention Bertram’s office assistant Michellei Higgins. She is empathetic, professional, and kind and always follows up if there are «logistics» questions or concerns that need to be addressed.

Bertrum is an amazing acupuncturist, herbalist and nutritionist. I have never left his office unsatisfied, and I feel amazing results after his treatments. He always gives me the attention that I need and his treatments get me through my week. I always look forward to seeing him!

I think Bertram is AWESOME. This is coming from someone who absolutely hates needles. I originally came to see Bertram for depression & anxiety. After a session I feel so calm and at peace. Now I can say that going to acupuncture for me is about complete mind/​body wellness.

Bertram is an excellent LAC who looks at the body as a whole. He’s very proficient and has a great bedside manner.
He even offers a detox program using Ultra Clear Plus from Metagenics, which takes displine, but you end up feeling fantastic!
