Tula Ru

I rarely leave reviews, but I feel I should after today. I was really looking forward to check this place out. The place is clean, organized and well decorated. That’s it!
The clothing selection is ok and many items are not in good shape. I understand it is a pre owned store, but their prices are similar to outlet stores, or super sale deals. That being said, I expected the clothing curation to be better.
They have a door that opens to a busy street, which is concerning when little children are involved. Since the door was opened, I felt worried about my 2 year old son, who was at my arm length at all time. I wasn’t enjoying my shopping experience. I asked if he could go to the playroom and the lady said: «Yes he can, but if you don’t buy anything, you have to pay $ 10» What??? Using the playroom should be complementary in my opinion. You don’t charge people who might not find what they are looking for. I stayed in the store for less than 10 minutes, didn’t find anything that interested me, and left with a disappointed toddler who didn’t enjoy the play area.

I was really looking forward to stopping here on my vacation in SD… arrived on a Tues at 5 pm and it’s totally closed. If their hours have changed they should update their sign and the internet… looks cute inside but I’ll never know…

Do al children’s boutiques close 10 minutes early? Not cool. Trying to race home in traffic to get a kids gift my only evening available before the weekend. Fail. Absolute fail.

I’ve been in here quite a few times and have made an occasional purchase here and there. I stopped in today because I forgot to pack shoes for my daughter and we left the house with none. In a pinch, I stopped in today hoping they had something so we could continue on.
Besides being on the slightly pricey side and a bit of a slim shoe selection ($ 13 for used non-​name brand shoes) it was a score. This store is very well done and not junky at all. A lot of the items are fancy brands and quite unique. All items were in excellent condition for being ‘previously loved’.
They have a super cute play area for your (barefoot) kid to entertain themselves while you shop. I picked up after her. It was immaculate when I walked in!
They also have a lot of (new) wooden eco toys and things for sale. A great place to buy a nice gift!
I always enjoy coming here. You can tell they put a lot of effort and pride in their store.

This shop is amazing. I save so much money since I found this store, and their products are awesome.

Awesome baby/children’s store. They have high quality items at good prices. I bought a Juicy Couture PJ set that looked brand new for only $ 12! I am coming back soon.

This store was absolutely amazing! We stumbled upon it by accident while we were waiting for a table at a nearby café. It is decorated SO cute, the employees are friendly and outgoing without being annoying (ya’ll know what I mean!). I have three daughters, almost 17, 13 and a soon to be 2 year old and we all had fun shopping there (even though its mostly for young kids). I found an amazing Juicy couture fur coat for ¼ the price anywhere else, a super sweet apron, and some cute leggings. To top it off, they had these handmade marshmellow snowman treats on a stick that they gave out for free. This store is delightful!

i wish I could have given this adorable little shop 5 stars but unfortunately it was CLOSED. Their website, answering machine and their Unilocal page all touted that they were open 7 days a week… No it wasn’t a holiday and we were there about noon. I was so disappointed. I gazed into the window and think I may have drooled over the décor… so sad to have missed you Tula Ru

A very cute children’s store. Its like mini boutique, except for children. The first floor is all toys, books, & candy. The second floor is all clothes.
They don’t have a parking lot, like most places in PB, but it’s pretty easy to find parking on the street.

I completely DISAGREE with the last woman’s rating. The owners of Tula Ru are AMAZING! If your heart isn’t won than you have none.
Casey is so wonderful, positive and sweet. She has huge amounts of all sizes and my girls would rather go shop in there than toys r us or little locks. The clothing is clean, sweet and in fab shape.
She also gave a HUGE donation of warm clothing that is being shipped Monday to Japan to the people in need. So yes they do charity not sure why you are so negative!!!
So I totally disagree I love the store.
She has added tons of new items and helps us support local Moms that write books, do hair clips or make tu tu.

What a great store, the owners are good people who know alot about childrens clothing and have wonderful taste in gift ideas. The clothes are individual and affordable.

I am a PB mom, and have shopped here since it was Sunkissed kids, then «Forget me Not», and since I still have store credit, Tula Ru. I went in to take a look then I logged on to Unilocal about the newest version and I was shocked at the previous post! first of all, «Forget me Not» was awesome!, and not open for ten years, more like 4 or 5. Most moms I know (we all have children in the 4 — 9 year old age group) have been long time fans. And the former owner was involved in charity events and donated items to PB elementary school fundraisers. Although the store is still as cute as it was, the sweetness and friendly factor need some work. I didn’t find anything that was in my kids size range, so I quietly walked out, but after reading these Unilocal comments I am worried about using my store credit, since I have had it forever. (yikes) I guess it remains to be seen if the new owners will be able to win the hearts of the local moms, but the store still has the great look and style that the previous owner created.

This store was Forget Me Not. Prior owner re-​modeled, changed name to Tula Ru then sold it to new owners. Went in today to use $ 45.000 worth of Store Credit, had no idea owner changed. Store credit clearly states I can purchase resale and new items. I took a smaller % in store credit to be able to use credit for new and used items. New owner said I could not use store credit for new items and told me that I had until the end of the month (5 more days) to use the credit on resale clothes only. There were only 2 pair of pants that would fit my size 5 and 6 boys. Did not add up to my store credit. Asked if I could use the rest on new merchandise. That is when things went south. I listened to owner’s explanation again and again about how they were not going to honor my card, husband comes out and explains again how they were not going to honor my card, I could take it up with the prior owner, Ingrid! Ingrid sold the business, how and why would I take up my store credit with the prior owner? New owner said maybe I could get a restaurant credit from Ingrid’s other business. Ridiculous! I said I thought they should honor my store credit and that I while I appreciated and wanted to patronize their local business, I thought that not honoring my card created more ill than good will. I told both Mr. and Mrs. that customer’s do have a voice and that is when I was asked to leave and told that they would not even honor their earlier committment to let me use the store credit for the two pair of pants I had on the counter! Customer service is #1 when running a business. While a local store is much appreciated in our beach town, customer’s need to be treated with the respect that their wallets and word of mouth can bring to the business! I will be taking my birthday present shopping to Gepetto’s in La Jolla from now on!
