Unveiled Wedding Photography

I am SO happy that we hired Mark to be our wedding photographer. First of all, when you read all the reviews about Mark, here and elsewhere, that make him sound too good to be true — I want you to know it’s for real. I was a bit skeptical about all the «press» such as «The Knot Best of Weddings for 5 years in a row.» If you are a person like me you hear all this good stuff, over and over, and you think, «He’s got friends.» But that’s because I’m jaded. Ha ha. I want you to know IT’S ALL TRUE. Mark is the best, and you won’t regret hiring him. He does have better equipment AND technique than other photographers. Not only are the photos STUNNING, but Mark was like a ninja capturing moments that were so special while we did not even know he was there! I have so many pictures of my friends and family that are so special — revealing their characters, capturing their essence of personality, and evoking memories that will last decades rather than fading away. Isn’t that what it’s all about, remembering how it all felt? He gets up close without anyone knowing and really captures people’s souls. It’s amazing. It brings the whole experience to life again. And of course, the traditional bride and groom shots and wedding party portraits are just what you want them to be. No doubt. I was pregnant at my wedding, did not feel I looked so beautiful and perfect as a bride should because of the extra weight. However, Mark captured my happiness and joy and my love of my husband in a way that moves me to tears. He made me look beautiful even when I did not feel like it. His pictures of my husband are equally amazing. All around I HIGHLY recommend that you choose Mark and please do not look any further.

My husband and I are SO grateful that we chose Mark and Unveiled Wedding Photography to shoot our wedding. From our first meeting with Mark, we knew that not only was he friendly and fun but also that he had a SERIOUS passion for photography and making beautiful images that capture both details and emotion, are photographically pristine, and stand the test of time. He has a TON of experience and seems to have seen everything. He also was flexible in working together with us to provide a custom package. He was straightforward, open, honest, and detailed with his pricing, policies, and procedure. We had done our research and came with a ton of questions… all of which he was ready and able to answer, and it was so nice to feel like there were no catches or hidden loop holes!
Our engagement shoot was fantastic. Neither of us had taken professional photos before so we weren’t sure what to do, whether to pose or be natural, or how to pose. Mark coached us along and put us at ease with some humor. Mark was even great enough when we asked him a week or so prior to the shoot to help us recreate a photo posing us similar to a photo of my husbands grandparents. When we got our photos back, we were overjoyed at how BEAUTIFUL and pristine they were! The place we took our photos at the beach was packed, but Mark somehow knew how to angle things in such a way that made it look like we were at a private beach!
On our wedding day, we were even further convinced that we made a fantastic choice in photographers. Our wedding was in December so it had some schedule challenges due to limited sunlight, but Mark worked with us to create a timeline that fit in everything we needed and was efficient but not rushed. Well… the wedding day came along and it was the worst storm most of California had seen in at least 5 years… so we were nervous whether things would still run on time and our vendors would get stuck in traffic. Mark and his assistant photographer arrived at the getting ready locations perfectly on time, and helped the day move along according to schedule, despite the weather challenges. And thankfully, the rain dried up right before our ceremony! When the ceremony went 30 minutes longer than expected, Mark and his wife Stacy got through all our family poses incredibly efficiently and we headed off to take the rest of the photos with the remaining sunlight and even made up the time we were behind by being efficient but not rushed before heading off to the reception. The toasts at the reception also ran late, which put our schedule behind, and again Mark came through despite having to adjust plans last minute.
Needless to say, we felt like there was a lot thrown at us (and subsequently our vendors) during our wedding day… some thing expected and some unexpected. Despite all these challenges, things were so stress free for us the entire day due to Mark and his team and our incredible wedding coordinator helping to keep things on schedule and on track. During the ceremony and reception, we hardly even noticed Mark and his team were there… and we have absolutely beautiful images of all sorts (poses, shots of the details of the wedding, candids) that captured every bit of the day beautifully!
Mark and his team come at a higher price than many of the newer, less experienced wedding photographers that have popped up recently, but you absolutely get what you pay for. If photography is important to you, we HIGHLY recommend going with Unveiled!

I can’t say enough good things about my experience with Mark. From the beginning, he was professional and easy to work with. He not only took fantastic pictures; he also helped everyone stay on track with the wedding timeline. I am so glad I did not hire another vendor based on price — the money was well worth it. Mark is a wonderful photographer. He has been doing photography for many years and his keen sense for detail is second to none. He is extremely organized and precise in his business. He was able to help my husband and I (married 6÷14÷2014) choose a package that was perfect for what we wanted to capture. His gift and eye for amazing photos is why we chose him, but he blew us away when we received our CD. The proof is really in the pudding with Mark. Look at his photos from previous weddings, meet with him and his wonderful wife and what you will find is a dynamic team that anticipates needs and exceeds all expectations.

We used Mark at our wedding this past January, and he was fantastic! My husband is an amateur photographer and it was really important to him that we had a truly professional photographer who knew his stuff, could get the shots, but was also an artist. Mark fit the bill perfectly! More importantly for me, Mark made me feel comfortable. I do not like having my picture taken and was worried that I would look stiff and awkward in all of my wedding photos. Not so at all! Mark did our engagement photos as well, and I knew we’d made the right choice right away. He put me at ease, and the photos were amazing. At the wedding he was so unobtrusive we didn’t even know he was there, but yet he got amazing shots all through the ceremony and reception. I want to put two photos up on the wall and haven’t yet, but only because there are so many great shots I can’t choose.

Mark hands down is an amazing photographer. He is super professional and a joy to work with. I am amazed and impressed with his images.

We are a military family currently stationed in Alabama. Mark Hillis of Unveiled Wedding Photography is so good that we used him for our family pictures. I also wanted to add that the session we took was during my husband’s two week R&R from Afghanistan! The pictures of our session were absolutely perfect. We took ours on location at the Hotel del Coronado. We even had a wardrobe change so that not only we’d have formal pictures on the grounds of the hotel, but also casual ones on the beach. I felt the price was worth the pictures and service received. Mark Hillis captured LOVE in his photographs of us. He was very detailed and captured moments at the right time. He got great candids and photos of my children and that’s saying something considering they are 5 and 2 years old. Candids showed genuine delight. What I also loved was that Mark knew which spots had the best background for our pictures. He knew the times when it was least crowded and chose the times when the natural lighting was at its best. Unveiled is very professional. Mark was super easy to communicate with and get a hold of. He was on time and came with great ideas. And lastly, my proofs came out in a very timely manner and the orders to my prints got mailed out within the week I placed my order. They took great care in mailing too. All my pictures arrived in great condition. I highly recommend him! We will be taking pictures with him again for sure.

First let me start by saying I do not photograph well and I was really worried about getting good pictures for our wedding. But, Mark and Stephanie were fantastic. They did a great job of capturing the moments and we got some absolutely great wedding photos. I am very happy we decided to go with them and would highly recommend them.

I had a very difficult time choosing a wedding photographer (I didn’t really know what I was looking for). But in my very first exchange with Mark, he was helpful, answered questions, offered advice and was very kind.
When I finally decided to book with him, unfortunately he was already booked for the day of my event. But, he tracked down a couple photographers for me to choose from, booked them for me and worked with me the whole time (with phone calls, emails, setting up my timeline and photo list).

Mark is hands down one of the most talented photographer’s you will ever meet, and one of the best vendors that we worked with during our wedding planning process. I chose Mark for my March wedding. I looked at a few portfolios of photographers my wedding planner suggested. I chose Mark because I loved his style. I liked that he had a lot of candid photos rather than a lot of staged ones. I feel that in 20 years, I will enjoy looking at those kind of photos more than a group of people all saying «cheese.» One of my favorite photos is of one of the guests rocking out on the dance floor. Mark caught him mid-​rock out and he is actually airborne. Amazing!
Anyway, Mark is extremely professional. He’s very good with organizing the posed photos of all the family members (which is like herding cats) after the ceremony.
The photos came out really great and I highly recommend Mark. We got a CD and he also made them available on Snapfish so all I had to do was email people the link and they could order whatever they wanted.
I’m looking forward to choosing the photos I want to hang on my wall and to give as gifts to everyone.

We worked with Mark on May this year. We liked him pretty much from the first minute we met. He is super easy to work with, everyone came to our wedding loved Mark. If you’re looking for posed family portrait type photos for your wedding, Mark is not your man. I’m certain that he can do this exceptionally well, but why waste his talent like that? If you are looking for very creative, fun, professional, candid shots that tell a story, look no further.
