Victory Gymnastics Academy

The coaches are not paying attention to the students and chatting with other coaches during a class and my son broke bones. I saw my son’s coach went to the bathroom during a class and she was sending text messages there.

both of my children have been attending VG for several years. My little girl is in level 4. she really likes it there. She thinks it is much better than the YMCA. My son takes tumbling classes there. it has really helped his agility. The only problem I have with them is the turn over in teachers and the price. It is a bit to high. They should have family discounts.

Daughter went to gymnastics camp here. The camp itself and the instructors are great, but it’s too hot. NO A/​C??? My daughter and her friends aren’t enjoying the camp that much because it’s too darn hot. Before signing up, I’d go in and check it out first on a warm day. When I did, it felt very uncomfortable. Fans don’t cut it. This place really needs to install air conditioning. It’ll be back to the YMCA or somewhere else after this.

there is room for a lot of improvement — we’ve been customers for 2 years to me — the young coaches seem bored — its more like a babysitting service for kids 10 and under — on a positive the teen girls seem engaged they mostly monitor themselves

Before I begin with the actual review, I want you all to know that I tried to reach out to the owner, and reason with her. I have been debating on whether or not I should write a review, but after a few days of waiting for a response from the owner, I think it’s fair to say, that she just doesn’t care.
So for all the parents that are actually looking for a profesional gymnastic academy, this place is NOT it.

Months ago I purchased a six month package for two of my kids, for twice a week. You can imagine how much money that is. Before I purchased it, I made sure there were exceptions to the «one make-​up rule». What if my kids are sick? What if we want to travel? Having only one make up a month just doesn’t make sense. Well, the person I spoke to, told me not to worry about it. That it is enforced, but of course, exceptions are always made according to the circumstances. Fine, I handed over a check for over a thousand dollars…
Well Christmas break comes along, and they close for a week and a half. My kids are enrolled in classes twice a week, you do the math.
I come back from break the sweet receptionist with the red hair, helped me organize classes. No problem there. However, Martin Luther King Day comes along, and I didn’t remember whether or not they would be open… I had scheduled a makeup class on that day but figured that the receptionist might of made a mistake. (VGA has made many mistakes before… so it wouldn’t be a first.) So I call 5 times, throughout the afternoon, no one answers. What would you assume? That it’s closed right?
Apparently it was not closed, so I missed a class, plus a makeup class that was scheduled. So I call up to schedule a makeup for the day I did miss, and the make-​up I missed. I figured they would be understanding due to the circumstances. NO!
So I email the OWNER SHAWNA, she is completely unreasonable and tells me I am lucky to have gotten the three makeup classes. I told her that the three makeup classes are classes VGA owes me for closing during the holidays. And that Martin Luther King would be my first makeup. Also, I explained how I called 5 times, and received no answer. She was not willing to budge at all. I went as far as to show her my phone bill as proof that I did call and received no answer.
You would think, that someone that has been willing to cash out thousand dollar checks to their academy would be a little bit more flexible… I guess she didn’t like the fact that I told her we were going through difficult times, and would take a break from VGA. We are no longer important, since we aren’t customers.
I waited days for her response, and nothing. She hasn’t had the decency to respond to my very last email. I have a small balance in our account and was going to keep my son for one more month hoping that this awkward situation would be resolved. After receiving no response, I thought that maybe it be better if we part our own ways. Well, apparently they don’t grant refunds and it has to go through the owner. The same owner that can’t find the time to show me some respect.
I can also go on about other incidents that have gone on at VGA, with my children. If anyone needs more information, feel free to message me.
And to the owner, if you are planning on responding to this message: save it. You had your chance to speak to me when I was more than willing to reach a mutual agreement. We all know that if you are writing to me, it is not because I am upset, since you already knew that and did nothing about it. It is because all you care about is your business.

VGA is an amazing place. The rec coaches are enthusiastic and supportive. The team side is characterized by coaches who will go the extra mile to help their athletes attain the best performance possible. They have changed the head coach recently and I can see nothing but more and better coming. We have been there for 3 years, one girl in team and one girl in lightening bugs.

Still love the gym after several years :) my daughter is in class now for 16 hours a week. I still feel that the cost is reasonable and the facility is amazing.
There have been some changes in coaching staff, but they are all still very good. Larry in particular has been a favorite of mine for many years :)

My daughter goes to Victory. She is a level 9 gymnast. She has been to two other gyms in San Diego. Victory has been the most professionally run gym she has attended. The facility is very clean and the equipment is in excellent condition. All of the coaches are friendly and approachable. Charlie and Nicole are the head team coaches. Charlie is a world champion gymnast. He works hard to challenge and improve each of the girls individual talents.

Love VGA. Coaches are great and the floor is HUGE. There are a lot of things going on at once so it’s good to see all the age groups and levels practicing at the same times. The only downside is how hot it can get during the summer months, but that is not the fault of the gym just merely the AC can’t keep up with the space! I do wish prices were a tad lower, but I truly feel this is the best gym you’ll find in San Diego if you’re looking for a serious and long term activity for your child.

My daughter has been going to this gym for almost a year and LOVES it. The coaches are all very knowledgeable and really do a great job teaching. The gym is very clean and has all up to date equipment. I really can’t say enough about the coaching staff here, they have always been so positive and my daughter has learned so much!

My granddaughter goes here twice a week and she looks forward to each time. I feel the coaches are right on target and very caring. I think my Grand has learned a lot and she is taught very well. This gym is clean and it meets the needs for these kids. I am sure my Grand will be going here for years to come and I support that. Thanks so much for your awesome Gym, I think your number ONE !

My daughter attended a summer camp. I assumed that they would learn the basics since she had never been in gymnastics. The skill level of the camp was far too advanced. On the second day she twisted her ankle. She let the instructor know, but the instructor assured her she was fine and had her jump on the trampoline. My daughter insisted her ankle was sore so they had her stop. When I picked her up no one mentioned the injury to me. We stopped going to the camp because her ankle hurt. After going to the Dr. she ended up with a cast. I wrote an email to let them know and received no response. I was very disappointed about her treatment during camp and especially the lack of awareness on the instructors parts and the lack of customer service.

This gym is by far the best in San Diego. My son has been going her for almost three years. He is currently in the best class they offer specifically for boys. It is called Spider Boys. The coach is amazing, super fun, but yet very structured and disciplined in a very appropriate way. He teaches the kids the beginning steps of parkour while focusing them on the tasks at hand, having a ton of fun, making them think, and teaching respect for the sport, their coach, each other and their parents. It is awesome. Coach Travis is very good with everyone at the gym, kids, parents, and staff. My son is only four years old and all of the kids in his spider boys class range in age from three to five. How he keeps eight of them going and listening and having a blast while working on building their strength and there character is beyond me. But he is great. They gym is clean, has great equipment and is very welcoming to boys and girls of all ages. I checked out many gyms before settling on Victory and I am so glad I found this one. If you are considering a gym, please come to victory, you will be glad you did!

I love this place. My daughter has been taking classes since she was 3. All the instructors are great!

My 2 year old simply loves his gymnastics class! Coach Lauren is fantastic. She is both professional and fun with the kids. Not only is our little one learning physically but his development in following directions, listening skills, patience, and confidence has improved a great deal.

My 4-​Year Old has SO MUCH FUN every class! Shyann has a great rapport with the toddlers. I love how they incorporate play time with the basic fundamentals.
I only wish they would open summer camp up to 4 years and up instead of 5 and up! She’d be there in a heartbeat!

This place is great… Whether you bring your child for exercise or to build skills, they will have a good time and come back to you out of breath and sweating with a smile on their face… The coaches are very knowledgeable and give each student their all… They have plenty of blocks and stations to accommodate the many classes…
The «Freestyle Gymnastics» class is a twist on traditional gymnastics that takes elements from Tumbling– Parkour — Martial arts — as well as break dancing to teach students how to climb-​up jump-​over and freestyle with the equipment.
THE ONLY negatives is they do not except students over 18… and the parent viewing area is shoved in a corner where you can only see half of the gym clearly, unless you stand against the wall by the bathrooms

I haven’t been in many such facilities, but I am very impressed with Victory’s. If you are a parent of a frees spirited toddler looking to carefully marry structured lessons with playful exercises, I highly recommend this venture’s Glow Worm program, and I most definitely recommend Dave. He is firm and understanding with new, um, rogues and keeps the class in a fun and balanced order. He is athletically creative with his courses, has plenty of profundities on child physical development & has many much appreciated activities that allow parents to participate & co-​coach. Tuition is 70US a month; certainly fair when I consider the quality of the instruction.

My daughter has been training at Victory Gymnastics for one year. The owners are so welcoming and go out of their way to help you out. The coaches all have impressive backgrounds and all really care about the girls. My daughter is on the team and we were able to go to a lot of meets including a fun weekend in Las Vegas. It’s awesome to watch how much all of the gymnasts have improved at our time here at Victory. The new facility is state of the art, I haven’t seen a nicer facility in San Diego. I recommend this gym for all ages and levels, your child will get the BEST gymnastics instruction here.

VGA is awesome! Kids – come flip, play and have fun while improving your strength, flexibility and coordination!
