Wear It Again Sam

Does anyone know if their online store is still in operation? I ordered something recently, which then disappeared off the site, but I have not heard anything in regards to my order… It is only now that I see it’s been closed!!!

Oh, I miss this place. Thank goodness they r still online though. Great selection of merch in excellent condition. Does not even compare to Frock U Clothing also in SD.
Staff is always pleasant and helpful.

THEY ARE CLOSED. Their shop on 5^th ave has a sign saying they’re now on line only. Confusing, since their website is still under construction and there’s no mention of the shop closing on it. Considering my long ago experience and other reviews, I’m not surprised… but still. Way to keep your customers informed.
Maybe they’re just playing hard to get, making us work for those expensive vintage clothes – oh wait, if I had time for a run around I would be happily browsing through thrift shops.
I went to this shop once before, ages ago to sell some clothes/​browse, and I remember attitude and not getting much for what I sold. In desperate search for a nice blouse/​dress for a special occasion, I decided to try them again. Fail. Hope I save someone else a futile trip.

This place is fantastic! My personal Disneyland. Everything that I have purchased from this store is fabulous and timeless. I have never had an issue with the service-​what is this with people wanting their ass kissed? As far as people complaining about the pricing-​you get what you pay for. Think of it as an investment. I’ll be wearing my dresses for years to come. Thank you oh fabulous boutique!

Okay apparently when the staff were becoming vintage enthusiasts they forgot that ladies had manners back then :)
Two things… I KNOW I’m fat AND I know my way around a vintage garment.
Sooo that being said, I found it laughable they felt the need to remind me I’m fat and that they didn’t cater to «my kind» and also that they would charge so many doll hairs for a 80’s does 40’s frock.
Such a pity too because the store does really have some darling pieces

It’s true the service is mediocre… you might get a «Hi» when you walk in to door, but that’s been about it for me after several visits. No one has ever helped me while I was browsing (they know their inventory best… they could be checking out your figure and bringing you potential outfits) and I’ve never been assisted while I was in the dressing room (crazy!). Why in the world would you not desire to give your customers an incredible shopping experience that only a boutique store can offer???
That being said… what great vintage (and some new) clothes this place has! Totally unique and fun… for both men & women. And, I can almost always find something to fit my skinny frame here… in fact, I just bought a dress there that I had to get let out (apparently from the closet of a no longer living anorexic woman).
I’m as excited to wear the three dresses I’ve bought here now as I was right after I bought them. No one will EVER be wearing anything like me when I have them on… and they are always a conversation piece!

Ugh. I can’t stand coming in here… horrible service, or lack thereof. I highly recommend high-​tailing it down to Flashbacks where the service is friendly and there is far more variety… and far more people costume shopping for Elvis sunglasses and afro wigs but whatevs;) bummer because there are so few vintage boutiques in san diego…
p. s. I’ve only ever had a bad experience with the gal who is the manager… not Amanda with the red hair a few reviews below. Just wanted to clarify to be fair!

I think I have always been in love with this place just based off of the two mannequins on display when you first walk in. They are dressed in all kinds of crazy fashions, and this keeps me coming back to see their creations. The employees were dressed in some crazy getup’s, but it’s also close to Halloween. They had a few racks for Halloween costume needs, and then the rest of the store got increasingly more expensive as it went further back. Absolutely beautiful pieces to be purchased, but only by people who have an excess of money to throw down. Something I sadly do not have the luxury for. The sixteen dollar rings were pretty cool actually and looked of a quality worth spending that much on for «costume» jewelry.

Been in here several times to check out clothes with the Ms. They seem to always have some nice stuff in that 1950’s Susie Homemaker style. The selection seems to be pretty good as long as you are into the 50’s thing.
Funny thing happened the last time we were in here tho.
As we were chatting with the counter girl my wife and I simultaneously caught a whiff of what had to be one of the most brutal fart odors ever. I mean, seriously paint-​peeling.
Hmmm…
We gave each other a quick sideways glance and a nonverbal «Did you, uh???» look which was met with a mutual and abbreviated shaking of the heads signaling a «no.»
Well, it was just us and the counter girl in the store. No potential stunt farters in the wings.
No sooner had the above millisecond sniff and culprit assessment taken place then a couple in their early sixties walked in eliciting a «MOM, DAD, OMG!» from the counter girl. Apparently this was a surprise visit. Our phantom farter excused herself to greet them and then explained to them that she was discussing vintage eyeglass frames with us. Mom and Dad, having just walked into a freshly busted and particularly pungent fart cloud courtesy of their daughter, looked at us in disgust and made a «ugghh» noise. Apparently their daughter’s gilded rectum could not have produced something so vile. It HAD to have been these wretched customers.

I walked in here window shopping last December. I was instantly drawn to a black lace 50’s dress on the mannequin. The sweet lady working there got it down and helped me zip it up. It was/​is the most adorable dress I own. (Talk about flattering to a woman with some curves… none of that paper bag fashion that is all the rave now.)
Needless to say, I bought the dress and this place is on my shopping rotation! :)

Meh. The concept is great, the execution weak.
I agree with other reviewers that the lack of customer service puts an instant negative twist on the first seconds in the store. I have been in numerous times, with different people there at the front to «greet you», and even with my usual bubbly hello, I RARELY get a response… the nerve!
The selection is fun to look through and imagine your gramma at 23 strolling around in big skirts and embellished cardigans, but apparently I am obese according to 50’s standards, because rarely could I even zip a dress or skirt.
The good news is, with the high price on almost everything in the store, I guess its good that nothing fits…

I’m going to send a letter to the BBB about this place. I have never seen a lady so rude! If you look up HAG in the dictionary you will see her picture next to it. We walk in and she dosent say a word but then some gray hair man walks in and she greets him. I asked her «Do you buy authentic fur» and she gave me a dirty look saying «maybe but i dont know if im interested in yours is it from mexico?» hahaha im not mexican! I was going to take in a 1950’s long mink coat from italy but too bad she is not getting anything. My boyfriend asked if she would be interested in Khalua skin boots and she snarls and said «oh god no what do you think this is a chula vista thrift store»
My mink coat and khalua boots are worth more than everything in that store! They have cool stuff if your into that style but its so overpriced. I honestly have never been so insulted in my life. It’s just funny she was trying to inforce we are mexican because we have dark hair and a summer tan. Pathedic.

My husband and I were strolling around, looking for some new threads, and we came across this store. I walked in and was ignored by both people working there who were way more interested in talking to each other. Boo. The clothes here, though, are beautiful and wonderful. The prices are on the higher side but are higher end vintage clothing. So i guess you’re getting what you pay for. If you’re getting dolled up for a special night, this place is great to fine a unique dress. Just don’t mind the people who work there.

I’ve visited this store a few times while cruising Hillcrest, and I must say I was very impressed. I have recently developed an appreciation for vintage clothing and this store was a testament to the wonders of old clothing.
Their selection is meticulously picked. I found my shopping experiences in this store to be very enjoyable, even when I did not make a purchase here.
Why only 4 stars? Generally speaking I like more colorful clothing. Though the clothes here have a lot of character, many of them are more on the plain side, as far as colors go. Also, it is a little pricy.
I frequent Flashbacks a little more often than here for these reasons. But still, Wear It Again Sam deserves a good review.

I used to come in once in a while when I lived in SD. I love that they have such a great selection of quality vintage clothing except that they don’t carry any big girl clothes :(
But They have gorgeous Mexican hand painted skirts, Capris, Dresses, Shoes… and they have adorable Vintage clothes for little boys !!! man I need to make a trip down there…

Well, it’s official. America is getting fatter.
This is a fact I’ve known for a long while but have denied because, well, who wants to admit to being part of a fat culture, but today while shopping at this store, I was definitely reminded. It’s all vintage and it’s hard to believe that at one point in history, women actually hit these tiny waist clothes. I mean, seriously, perfectly normal looking dress top, A-​line on the bottom and a waist so small, with a little effort, you might be able to get an arm through it. Bananas.
As for the stuff in this store, it’s definitely not on the cheap side, but the quality is all very nice and above the stuff you would find at your average thrift/​vintage store. I especially enjoyed the delightful selection of purses, shoes and hats and while I didn’t buy anything today, it is a store that I would throw on my list of pop ins in the future.

This vintage boutique is heaven. I have not come across one like it in San Diego. Its delightful.
The variety of vintage finds in this boutique are divine.
I only wish I could park my bed in the middle of this store and call it home, and wake up every morning and have this be my closet, it would be a dream come true.
PS. the music that plays in this place is wonderful, and relaxing and enjoyable to shop to.

First things first: The window displays are to die for. Right now, for Halloween, there is a magician and a floating woman going through a hoop (both wearing gorgeous one-​of-​a-​kind pieces.) Who thinks of something so grand, one may ask? The glorious masterminds behind the looks, grace, and unmistakeable class of Wear It Again Sam, are none other than Barbara and Amanda. Immediately greeted by one of the two lovely ladies, you feel welcome. Upon further inspection of the store, you are transported to whatever era that belongs to the pieces you peruse. Everything is priced according to quality. You can complain all you want about the prices in your reviews, but you really do get what you pay for here. Like one of my fellow fans has said, it is a fraction of what you could pay in SF or NYC.

–the beautiful, flowing, and brilliantly colored kimonoes on the back rack.
(Seriously ladies, if you pay $ 150 for jeans that look like everyone else’s, why not splurge on something that could be yours and yours alone?)

I LOVE their window displays and the majority of their clothes. But there’s a problem with their pricing. They seem to price most of their items waaay too high, especially for the quality of some of the pieces.
Quite often I swing by here for ideas, then go hit flashbacks or one of the other close by vintage stores

Ahhhh vintage, how I do love thee. Especially when it’s semi-​affordable and still in decent shape, which is exactly the kind of stuff you’ll find at Wear it Again Sam. They have a tremendous selection of dresses, hats and pointy, white vintage sunglasses.
They also get extra stars for pretty window displays.
