Cant stand this place. They have many problems here. Firstly their phones stay off well after their lunch break which makes getting a hold of then difficult when your hours and lunch break is similar. Secondly the receptionist is clueless. She is so frustrating to ask questions or get info from. She appears to not listen at all. Shes very nice, but not helpful. Worst of all is dr wickes. His demeanor is rude and uncaring while you are there and he gives judge mental looks and eye rolls. He is very old school and opinionated.

Worst beside manner I have ever experienced! I switched doctors after just two visits with Dr. Wickes due to unprofessional care and cold demeanour.

Dr Wickes was recommend to us by my husbands HR person. Being new to SD, I had no idea how far id have to drive. I just needed a quick appt so I thought I’d change PCP next time.
Dr Wickes was worth the drive. He’s attentive and thorough. He’s like an old fashioned Dr which was refreshing. I have no plans to change.

This doctors office is the best office I have ever been to. I find Dr. Wickes to be extremely thorough and professional with great bedside manner! On two separate occasions I needed to get in to see him and was seen within a day of calling. Other doctors offices sometimes have voice automated answering systems before even putting you through to a real person along with long complex registering for a simple appointment. I was unofficially diagnosed with Cancer by another doctor. I then called Dr. Wickes office for a second opinion. Dr. Wickes truly cares about his patients and assisted in calming me down and educating me that I could have just enlarged glands or be sick. He assisted in reading my MRI scan which would have taken another week with the original doctor. Thinking you may have Cancer with a lump the size of an egg and not being told for two weeks can be very stressful. Dr. Wickes performed a physical exam and had a blood test taken immediately which the other doctor didn’t even think of. I am so grateful for his thorough care. I also need to mention that his staff is very kind and caring. I feel like the care at this office is very personalized and customer service is beyond my expectations of a doctors office! I look forward to coming here in the future to handle my medical issues.

Quack, quack, quack…
This doctor does not follow common practices of his profession. There was an extra $ 35 charge (undisclosed ahead of time) on top of the medical visit charges for filling out Workers Comp forms of about 10 – 14 fields that only needed check marks, his name, and the diagnosis. Every other person I know of that has ever needed a Workers Comp form filled out by their doctor has had it completed as part of the visit. When asked about this extra charge it was explained that the doctor needed to spend a lot of time filling the form out. If it too more than 5 minutes then he is incompetent in my opinion. Once a complaint was filled about his unusual billing practice he sent a letter advising that patient had created an environment in which he could not provide care and asking patient to find a new provider while explaining that the governmental workers comp forms were additional work that he should be compensated and that the forms had nothing to do with a medical treatment or condition. What?! The reason work was missed for an expended period was due illness, so how are the state forms to document that condition not considered part of the visit. The doctors letter also stated that patient wanted these forms on demand. However the doctor did not complete the forms for three business days after having faxed them to the practices office, and then they refused to fax the completed forms back and said they would have to be picked up in person as fax machines are «too unreliable». To make it even worse, a Workers Comp agent eventually called to advise that the doctor had failed to accurately and completely fill out the forms… Maybe the patients should charge him $ 35 to fill out their new patient paperwork and annual privacy disclosures, after all that is more work and intensive than the simple fill in the blanks for that he could not even complete accurately!
Besides the doctors poor business practices, he also has a poor bedside manner. At the few visits made to his practice (before finding a new doctor), he acted in a cold, uncaring, and detached manner. His office staff woman was also cold and uncaring on all interactions for the appointments that were treated here as well. Not sure how this doctor passed his evaluations of bedside manner and professionalism at medical school, guess some people are only in it for the money.

I saw Dr. Wickes after being injured in a car accident. He poked at me for 5 minutes, then gave me painkillers and a follow-​up appointment. No explanation of what could be hurting me or why. At the follow up, he poked 5 minutes more, said «lumbar injury, you need physical therapy.»
When I asked if we should do more testing before sending me to physical therapy, to rule out more serious injuries, «It’s time to accept that bad things happen to good people, and deal with it» were his warm and caring words.
Smug bastard.
