Zia Threading

I have had nothing but bad experiences here since Maggie left the shop. I think if you need a little clean-​up, then maybe this place is for you. Shaping and arching – not their thing. Even if you communicate what you want done, they won’t listen.

I absolutely LOVE zia threading! I am extremely picky about my brows and the wonderful women at zia get it right every time. The price is great too and they offer punch cards so you get discounts as well. I believe the woman I always see is named Mina or Nina… forgive me for I can’t remember. Anyways, she is SO sweet and does an amazing job. I would definitely recommend this salon especially to someone who is picky about their brows and is nervous to try a new place!

I’ve tried so many places in San Diego county but these girls are the best ones so far. Hadis is my favorite but if she is not there I don’t mind getting my eye brows done with others. Never had a bad experience. Always get compliments about my brows too!

So the news is Maggie and the guy who used to work here no longer work here since they reopened at their new location in UTC. This makes me really sad! I hope these girls can do a great job!

I think hadis (I hope that’s how you spell) is really really good. Even though I’m a sucker when it comes to pain but she is excellent. I really love Zia threading.

I used to do my eyebrows and lips in benefit… After I did in here… I will never go back to benefit too… It takes me more than 30 – 45 minutes to wait in benefit but here… No way! The staff is really in here and the price is cheaper too! Nice try and find a new place for my eyebrows and lips!

I have been to Zia Threading several times and the ladies have done such a great job! But until last week, the lady who threaded my brows stated she would lightly clean up my brows. I have medium full brows and unfortunately came out with much thinner brows and one brow thinner than the other. I stray from writing negative reviews (this being the first), but after this recent service, I will no longer be returning.

I used to get my eyebrows waxed at the Benefit Brow Bar for $ 20. But after this first threading experience, I can safely say that I will never go back to waxing! It only costs $ 10 here! They also give you a rewards card. One free threading after you get 10 stamps.
Service was fast. I was in and out of this place within 15 – 20 mins compared to 30 – 45 mins at Benefit. I legit was late to my flight because McKenzie talked on and on. Although it was my fault for poor planning but I thought it would only take 15 mins. From then on, I knew I wouldn’t be coming back to Benefit…
One thing I don’t like is they don’t ask how you like your eyebrows right away. They had me sit down on the chair and immediately started working on me without asking what I wanted. I had to remind them that I wanted it not too thin and not too arched.
Roma and Time both worked on my eyebrows. They were nice and got the job done. Time however did forget to put rose water on my eyebrows after the threading session. :(

Girl Trip and shopping at UTC. Brows only $ 10. Elsewhere in the mall $ 12. Both girls did great! Definitely recommended!

This place has the best threading I’ve ever had. It’s cheap and painless. Once, the person doing my eyebrows accidentally cut me under my brow somehow with the thread, but I have been at least 10 times and it hasn’t happened again so no big deal.
I always come out having flawless brows, but my favorite girl by far is Kim. She was very courteous and friendly and did my brows super quick and painlessly. And I had always had a problem with one brow being more arched than the other, and she fixed it!
I never have to wait long and the price is right!

Omg! I got my brows threaded by a new girl and she was AMAZING !! Super detail oriented and sweet. Her English was not the best but who cares my brows and face look beautiful! I have been to many threaders and she was gentle. I really like her, she told me she was Persian and her name was Hadis. If your looking for good work try her.

My eyebrows came out so uneven. After she was done, she had me take a look and I can see it was VERY uneven just by glancing in a tiny mirror so I asked for the right side to also have an arch (left had an arch, right was curved)… She literally just thinned out my right side even more with the same shape; it’s still curved. She also made it so thin that if I tried to do something about it, I wouldn’t have an eyebrow…
This is only my second time threading (first time was at Beauty by Dolly in Hillcrest) but I could DEFINITELY tell this place was not for me.
The lady’s hands were pressing/​touching all over my face where I would flinch because she would press down on my eyes. The first place I had my eyebrows threaded, NOT A FINGER was on my face, all I felt was the thread. It also didn’t hurt the first time but it stung when I got it done at Zia.
I was only here because my friend recommended I come with her to do it together since we were in the area. I can confidently say, I will not be back.

I’ve been to Grace’s, Dolly’s, and Zia’s, but I still can’t find the perfect threading place for me. I’m currently going to Zia’s because it’s in a convenient location and for $ 26 ($ 21 service, $ 5 tip), I can get my eyebrows, upper lip, and chin threaded. However, it’s usually a ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ chance that I get the threader I want. I know this is partially my fault, but I don’t want to be rude and request a specific threader. I feel like I would be hurting their feelings.
Cam and I arrived early on Saturday to UTC since I just needed to get threading out of the way in order to prepare for my friend’s wedding. Unfortunately, there was a woman right outside the door, so she got my favorite threader. The person I got was very nice and listened to all of my requests, but she just didn’t get it quite like other experiences. I was a little disappointed, but I really appreciated her patience with all of my requests.
Overall, the staff here is very friendly and accommodating. The salon is clean and they offer rosewater to help with the irritation after the threading. Zia’s is definitely worth a try and I’ve never had a terrible experience. Unfortunately, I just think I’m looking for something different.

I have come here many times to get my eyebrows threaded. I work at Nordstrom across the way, so I usually go when I’m off work. Today I went in on my lunch break and there was a long wait. I asked when they closed so I could come back when I was off. They told me seven because it was Sunday. I was back at the store at 6:35 and was told they were closed. Having an in store event tomorrow and working in Cosmetics, I like to make sure I look my very best. Because they decided to go home early instead of stay until their business closes, shows me how little they care about their clients. They have lost a very loyal customer.

Coming from an area where Cerritos is a 10 minute drive and threading salons line the streets (literally) I have yet to find my go to place in SD for threading. I’ve been to Beauty by Dolly and although good work, it isn’t comparable to the work that has been done to me at home.
For years now, I’ve had to deal with uneven eyebrows that were a result of a very bad waxing job done at a place that shall not be named. And whether I’m home, or here in SD, many have tried to help me even it out with results not working out in my favor. Some better than others but still, eyebrows should be sisters and not distant cousins. But alas, the lady I went to somehow was able to get my shape just right to the point where the distant cousins that used to be my eyebrows are now beautiful sisters~
TL; DR
Do you know that feeling of staring at yourself in the mirror after getting your eyebrows done because it just looks so clean and «on fleek» or because you feel like someone screwed up somewhere but you can’t point your finger to it? I can almost guarantee you’ll be staring at yourself because your eyebrows will be on point even a week and a half later. Seriously.

Time after time I am blown away by Zia’s attention to detail when it comes to threading my eyebrows.
Let me start by saying. If you are on the fence about threading (over alternatives like waxing and tweezing yourself) threading is 150% the way to go. No alternative gives you the same shape and texture for your eyebrows without the side effects of weakening surrounding facial skin (like with waxing). And, if you have sensitive skin, threading can leave you with short term puffiness but nothing compared to waxing.
Anyways, when coming to San Diego I was nervous about finding a place that did my brows to my standards, but Zia’s has left me satisfied every time. All of the ladies there know what they are doing and will personalize your service however you need it. They end by offering rose water for your brows to reduce puffiness — all for 10 $. Worth it! As far as I’m concerned, best threading salon in the area.

I love this place. They have a great henna design. The best part is they are located in the mall. I tried different places but the lady there is so polite and fast. No wait time. She will listen what u want and will suggest u about the arches. I have done henna art once and it lasted for like 2 – 3 weeks. Prices are reasonable.

I FINALLY gave threading a chance! I am not a fan of waxing because it irritates my skin and I break out and plucking is so time consuming and annoying, so when I heard of threading I wanted to try it! My mom was in town and has also been wanting to try so we looked up some places close by and we found Zia Threading. They take walk ins and is solely a brow bar. It can be a little tough to find because it is in the mall, so I recommend to park in the Ocean Parking Garage and walk through Nordstroms and you’ll be right there.
Even with 3 people ahead of us, my mom and I were in and out in about 25 minutes and both of us were very pleased. It hurts a little more than I thought, but it’s not worse than waxing or plucking. I only got my eyebrows done, but there were some women there who were getting their entire faces threaded! The girls there didn’t speak English well, but were very nice and understood exactly what my mom and I were wanting. My stylist did not ruin my natural shape or make them too thin… I am VERY happy with the results.
It’s only $ 10 plus tip, which isn’t bad at all and I do plan to make this a regular addition to my ‘beauty routine”.

If your eyebrows are perfect and just need a slight trim maybe this is the place for you. I came in to just have a clean-​up and let the woman know. She trimmed a quarter inch of my eyebrow so it could match better with the other one. I didn’t realize I had to let a threader know not to trim so much without asking, especially after asking for a slight clean-​up. Both eyebrows look more uneven and thinner than ever, it’s going to be a pain to let them grow out again.
A three because she was nice and does know how to thread, even if it’s not shapely.

Zia Threading is located on the bottom floor of UTC next to Godiva. The place itself is small in size but nicely decorated. It has three salon chairs, really big mirrors, and a small seating area for folks to sit.
I walked in, signed in, and was escorted to a salon chair right away. The lady who threaded my eyebrows took her time to make sure my eyebrows were even and wonderful before letting me go. Overall experience was great and my eyebrows look amazing.
