I am an architect and have used So Cal on a number of big jobs in the past, even though there is never any paperwork and they always rush you to just pick something. The products aren’t bad and they are stunningly cheap. I have even recommended them to others, something I now regret. However, I will never use them again and suggest that they be avoided. The wrong fixtures were sent in the last order and as the job was a rush I had them send the correct fixtures(and paid for them in addition) and they simply will not refund my money for the wrong ones even though I sent the wrong ones back to them almost a year ago. First they had to wait until their supplier refunded them, like that was my problem, and now they just ignore all my email requests. If I get them on the phone they say they will send me a credit but they never do. They have cheated me and wasted my time pestering them. It was so long ago that i can not dispute the charge with the credit card company. I did not jump on this immediately because I mistakenly believed that they would issue a credit. It is clear that they will not. They are thieves!

Scarey… found them through a web search– prices are so low I was super skeptical. The web page is all peaches and rainbows, they even have a BBB review area, and a link to Unilocal(filtered reviews of course– 4 stars by their relatives, no doubt). Can’t understand if they are a distributor or a manufacturer– made in america? At those prices? Puh-leese. Buyer beware, and it seems from the REAL reviews a company to be avoided or suffer the consequences.

If you’re looking for a place where the customer is always WRONG, you’ve found it. Writing poorly, and in all caps, email from the place told me that the reason I got twice as many lights as I had ordered was my fault. Gosh, I don’t know how to order stuff on the Internet — imagine my surprise! They dragged their feet on responding to my returned shipment, and I got a credit via my credit card issuer. I won’t be back.

If I could give zero stars, I would. I started a project last week to replace my fluorescent lighting in the Kitchen with some nice recessed lighting. After looking around online, I found a place that was semi-local to me that had some really nice prices. I saw some disclaimers that there was a minimum order of $ 100; if that wasn’t met, the online system would automatically add $ 5-$ 10 extra to my cart. I figured that isn’t too bad since the prices were still nice. This must mean they do a lot of bulk-orders. I placed the order Tuesday night, got an immediate e-mail confirmation and thought all was well. The next day I never received a tracking number so I decided to call them. The guy that answers is polite and states that it should be here Thursday, Friday at the latest since we’re pretty close(but not close enough to make me want to drive to Chatsworth.) Friday rolls around, UPS just left and there was no package. I call them up and this is where it goes down-hill. Some guy answers the phone and I can tell he’s got a chip on his shoulder. He’s extremely rude and cuts me off every time I start to talk. Essentially he’s stating that because of how small my order was, that I wasn’t significant enough to have my order processed yet and instead of reasoning with me, he just blurts out that he was going to cancel the order and goodbye. At this point I hadn’t even gotten a word in, no kidding! I was left speechless! I run a technical support department and no one would ever speak to a customer like that. I tried to get a word in and he just got even more rude. At this point I felt it wasn’t worth the effort and then hung up. Talk about strange… treating a new customer this way. The testimonials on their site have to be fake…
