So sad to see this places closed. It was such a nice place. It’s been closed for a while now, but everything in the shop is still there as if they will reopen again. I check frequently to see if it reopened, but nothing so far. Wonder why it closed, it appeared to be going well. I hope this coffee shop reopens soon I really miss it.

Itsa Mexican-​American café. Very modern and full of charm. It’s a feast for my eyes. Both food and structure-​wise. Move on over, Porto’s and Bottega Louie. Finally paid this place a visit. It’s the cutest, charming little coffee shop/​eatery in SFV. My boyfriend lives close by here, so I’m one happy chick! I wanted to take pictures of everything in there! The place is so very detail oriented, the tiles, pastry case, the plethora of decorations are what makes this place so unique and inviting! Like what another Unilocaler called it, it sort of is that Mexican Bottega Louie. I heard that the pastry designer from bottega designs the dessert here, hence the prettiness.
I came in on a Friday after New Years night awhile back, and it was PACKED. People were ordering still, left and right. I gotta try their Horchata Latte next time.
I can’t help but obsess about this place. I kind of wished they didn’t expand or build more chains so they can garner Angelians to this part of town. But i think they already opened up a branch in south gate. I’m excited to try more of their items and look forward to being somewhat of a regular here!

So what’s he real story here? First they were coming back the end of 2015, then January, and now March?!? Is the store ever gonna re-​open?

I absolutely love this place! I have been patiently waiting for them to reopen and I’m slowly losing faith in humanity. As a graduate student, I love having a place to study. This place had a perfect vibe! The music was great, the environment was calm, and the drinks were yummy. I’ve been a semester without my favorite study spot and I’m dying for it to come back! Hopefully soon!

Why are you closed??? I loved you guys. Can we expect to re-​open it’s just what SF needs — trendy mom & pop shops to help promote business in the area! Pls re-​open your lattes and empanadas where soooo yummy! Not to mention the wonderful

I’ve heard… there’s been whispers of compañia opening back up in December, apparent this isn’t the case anymore. I’m very sad because this is a 5 star coffee joint however only one star when it’s been closed for 5 months straight. Please bring back the Compañia.

I been DYING to come here for forever and yesterday I finally had some time. I drove down there with my bestie to realize it happened to been closed down !! My heart honestly dropped. Absolutely devastated that I missed out on a place that seems it would have been my favorite place in the valley ! Inside seem visually stunning

My sister and I used to come all the time, and even brought our families with us a couple times. So many memories here, my sister and I would get our usual and rent out Scrabble (I would always win) and when we came with our family of course we had to rent out Loteria! The games really make this place something special, along with the every single tile, pastry/​sandwhich/​drink on the menu, and their awesome employees. A few of the girls knew us already and were super nice, because of one of them I finally tried the Al Pastor sandwich and it was AMAZING. I still crave it, and the chips it came with were so good!
The horchata coffee Iced is what we always used to get, for some reason to go always tasted better. I got the abuelita cake which they changed but the new one was good too. My sister would get the chocolate scone.
I really hope this place opens up again, my nephew misses it just as much as we do and he only go to go there once!
I’ll be a volunteer worker if necessary, would be cool to learn to be a barista at a really good coffee shop where the workers seem happy and not at a chain *cough cough, starbucks, cough*

I just saw that this place is temporarily closed, this is so upsetting. I’m praying and asking if you need any ideas, please reach out. Your business is amazing.
Perhaps have venues, open to business meetings, sell art, and just one word of advice the deserts need to be bigger and a price point for this community. Think Portos! I’m rooting for you.

What a gem! Beautiful interior, amazing pastries, and decent espresso.
Visited this picturesque café after numerous recommendations and loved it! The Valley rarely is graced with spots like this so I’m really glad to have it. The place is huge– plenty of tables to meet with friends over coffee or study– even some lovely outdoor tables if you want to read under the sun.
Their menu has your standard espresso stuff, some signature lattes, and a full menu of food from desserts to some light lunch items. I was feeling like a mid-​afternoon pick me up so I ordered a vanilla latte and their raspberry rose empanada. The latte was okay– the espresso was a little weak for my taste– but the empanada was AMAZING. A lot of people add rose to their pastries but you can’t really taste it but it really pairs well with the raspberry in this pastry. So good!
I’ll definitely be back to study or catch up with some Valley pals!

Such a cute place I found through Unilocal!Yay, Unilocal!
We were out in the valley area to run some errands and had little bit of time to kill. Not knowing the neighborhood at all Unilocal was the only thing we could rely on. This place was awesome. It was big and airy. Very bright. Well decorated. I even loved the skylight in the bathroom. Iced horchata coffee was delicious and one of the pastries we shared was just as good (sorry I don’t remember the name of it).
I don’t know if I’d ever be in the neighborhood again, but if I’m ever out there again, I’d make a point to stop at Compania de Café.

This by far surpasses any other coffee selling café, store, or shack.
Their store display is quite appealing but once you step in, it’s a whole other level.
Their design, the ambiance, the customer service, their food and drinks, the culture is all quite impressive for a café that just has a month being open. The only thing that’d probably bum you is only 2 hours of wifi. Other than that, the place is great, their food is even better, and the customer service is over the top.
Companía De Café is the place to be!

Beautiful décor, amazing pastries/​desserts, and coffee galore!
The abuelita mocha and diablo mocha (spicy) are Choco coffee goodness.
The guava/​queso fresco empanadas and rose raspberry empanadas are tasty tasty!

I absolutely love Compañía de Café. I love how large the space is, how authentically helpful and informative the barista we spoke to was, the striking patterns and vibrant colors, savory empanadas that were made especially FOR ME (my initials CO, duh!) and most of all. I love that THIS café is in the San Fernando valley. This café that has been mentioned numerously in LA food guides/​articles and earlier this year named one of the 44 great coffee bars in Los Angeles in a post on LA Eater. This is a gem in the valley. The valley that has been represented in media culture (THINK: dumb Cher’s «This is an Alaia» situation at Circus Liquor or Drama’s disgusting overactive sweat glands in Entourage) as LA’s ugly stepchild. So I’m elated that gem hunters are seeking out and typing away and putting valley gems on their lists.

I love Compania! It’s a cute coffee shop where you can catch up with friends or study. There’s plenty of tables both indoor/​outdoor, a lot of street parking and there’s free wifi for 2 hours.
For coffee, I highly recommend the compania latte with almond milk or the cajeta latte with goat’s milk. Both are delicious!
I love this café and it’s a nice alternative to Starbucks. I just wish they close later than 10pm on weekdays!

I guess you could say that I’m a bit biased towards Compania — in that I wrote the last paper of my undergraduate career during my first and only (though certainly not last!) visit here (so of course the place has some fond memories in my heart!). Nostalgia aside, this place is many paces ahead of your average mega-​chain coffee shop.
Compania de Café has a whimsical, unique aesthetic that exudes character and warmth. There’s plenty of color to look at, and the artsy décor (eclectic furniture combinations, even bird cages on the walls!) come across as fashionable, but not snooty/​off-​putting. A hefty variety of pastries and baked goods (even gluten-​free goodies!) were proudly and neatly organized in the the café’s display cases, and I’d imagine that it would be hard for those with a sweet tooth to not give in to temptation left and right. These same pastries & snacks are served on genuine ceramic plates, as opposed to the grease-​stained, messy paper bags utilized at franchised coffee establishments. Again, the attention to detail here is the real deal.
There’s ample space here to unpack your things and engage in some productivity; I had no trouble at all with locking down a table for hours (in the name of conquering my final collegiate essay, once and for all!).
To help get my brain into gear, I ordered an Abuelita Mocha, which consisted of iced Abuelita Chocolate Ganache infused with some cinnamon. In contrast to the overbearing sweetness of coffee drinks offered at lesser cafes, this concoction had a wonderful depth of flavors, striking a balance between outright sweetness and that classic, distinct mocha taste. Also, the portion size was more than reasonable; my iced drink easily lasted me for the 2+ hours of my stay.
I also ordered a slice of Chorizo-​Spinach Quiche to go with my drink. The serving size was pretty generous, and was full of flavor. My Quiche came with a little packet of Tapatio on the side. Much like the café’s decision to use ceramic plating, little touches like this were ultimately what converted me into a fan. Like any quality quiche, the pastry’s crust was deliciously flaky, and the fluffy filling paired off well with the Tapatio sauce. It was just the right snack to fuel a serious paper-​writing crunch.
It’s unfortunate that Compania’s located so far from where I live here on the Westside. I’ll forever associate this place with fantastic memories, and while I’d be very much happy to have them expand their way over to my part of town, I also know that there’s no point in messing with a good thing. Hopefully, they’ll continue to stick to their winning formula, and will excel well into the future. I wish them all the best, and I’ll definitely be back!

What a surprise find! We were headed up north to Mammoth for the weekend and as the sun set, the idea of driving 5 hours uncaffeinated, started to daunt the driver. A quick Unilocal search, led us here, and we were completely blown away by the the décor and the menu.
Who knew that the San Fernando Valley was so hip? This shop belongs on the Westide of La or in the Arts district of downtown. Every little detail of the décor and packaging has been thoughtfully designed. We were enamored with the hand drawn tiles that lined the back wall. Artisanal to the Max!
Lattes that feature a goat milk caramel? Say what?! Discovering their innovative use of Tajin (the salty spicy stuff you rim your michelada with or eat with fruit) in their frostings and desserts was awesome. Major props all around for celebrating the Mexican culture in every facet of your business and being innovative and modern with your menu.

This has to be one of the finer untapped resources in the San Fernando Valley.
This place seems to offer 3 things: Coffee, pastries & a space to hang out. Compañia de Café excels at 2 out of 3.
Their coffees are delicious. I’ve tried the iced coffee & the compañia latte. Both were amazing. The latte was honey sweetened. I definitely enjoyed it on the chilly afternoon I was there. Their agua fresca de melon was also very refreshing.
The space is beautiful. Aesthetically pleasing. A perfect set up for you & a friend to catch up or if you got some brainstorming on your laptop. There’s a couch, some comfy chairs, a few tables (indoor & out) or you can sit at the bar.
The pastries, however, leave a lot to be desired. I got to taste a few & not a single one was finished. They all lacked flavor. When I think of pastries, I’m expecting something sweet, to indulge in sugar. The scone was bitter almost! Can you guys taste them before they go on display!?! I’m serious. Pastries should be so good, you want to order one to-​go for your sister stuck at home. Not these though. Compañia, I say this to you with el apoyo as a customer, revamp those pastry recipes.
For the people complaining this place is too pricey, why is it that if it’s some hipster establishment, it’s allowed but Compañia can’t get away with it!?! I didn’t have a problem with the price. It outta keep the riff raff out. Yeah, that means you.

La Novia Del San Fer!

My brother told me about this place and expressed how surprised he was at how big the café was. I didn’t believe him but once we parked in front of Compania I fell in love. The décor was so cute with modern and touches of vintage pieces. I really enjoyed dining here just because of the environment. It was so spacious and inviting. Once you enter the café you see a pastry bar that looks a lot like bottega louie’s dessert bar.
It’s a great place to sit and study. They have large and small tables and free wifi. It might even be easier to find a place to study here than at Starbucks.
I tried the Abuelita Mocha and it was a nice blend of mocha and chocolate. It was a little too concentrated for me but it had a rich chocolate taste. I think I would have been happy with a little more milk added. And I also tried the chorizo quiche, chicken salsa verde empanada and the sweet chicken chipotle empanada. I really enjoyed the empanadas. It had lots of flavor and the dough was flaky and delicious. The quiche on the other hand was a little bland for me. It had a huge layer of egg at the top and the chorizo mixture at the bottom. I think if it had more chorizo I would have liked it more. But the tapatio helped enhance the taste of the quiche.
The service was great. The girls behind the counter were extremely helpful, welcoming and nice. I don’t know if I would come back… I didn’t try anything that was amazing.

First off the décor here is lovely! I love everything about the décor here.
Now for the food, I got the Chida Guanjilla salad. Alone without the dressing it’s still pretty flavorful. The dressing is pretty spicy with a kick but it’s still good.
I tried their Horchata latte, it’s delicious but pretty strong for a not avid coffee drinker. This place is really a hidden gem!
