Not sure what happened over the years with this place? My grandfather brought me here as a young boy and I recall the bread always was fresh and tasty. Best of all the prices didn’t change much over the years but this is not the way it is today. Prices have gone up, variety down and service is no longer with a smile. I must admit I still go in on occasion and purchase a bread or two for old times sake but this is not the institution that served the community with a smile and great price it once was. Sad to see is change.

This is one of a few Mexican bakeries in the neighborhood. Everything we have tried from here has been great; from pan dulce to the cookies and other pastries, it’s all good. My favorite are the almond cookies/biscotti! I looove to dip them in my coffee. I haven’t tried any beverages from here yet, but I will!

The Las Palmas Bakery has a great variety of Mexican bread. The place is inviting and clean, except their bread is a lil’ expensive. So why not go to Porto’s Bakery in Burbank/Glendale or even Vallarta’s and Panaderia Mexico in San Fernando or Gallo Giro.

I have memories of buying pan dulce for my family on Sunday mornings with my grandfather. The pan dulce here is so fresh. The pastries are so fluffy. When I visit Cali I always make a stop here for fresh pan dulce and take it home. My family’s favorite is the chilindrina pan dulce.(Not sure if I spelled it correct).

My new favorite bakery in San Fernando. I loved the bread, and the younger that helped us was very nice :)

Let me start by saying I love La Palma’s chorizo and egg sandwiches. They are amazing! I have been to La Palma bakery 4 different times. The older woman that works the counter is very rude every time I go. I thought it was because of the language barrier so I started to speak to her in Spanish. Didn’t help. The gentleman that works the counter is a very nice and helpful. If she wasn’t at the counter I would eat there more often.

We were on our way home and decided to stop for gas in San Fernando and im so glad we did. Saw this bakery and decided to check it out since im a bakery freak. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by the friendly girl behind the counter. The store was very clean and their displays were full of different choices. We decided to go with a cannoli and OMG!!! it was so delicious that after we got on the freeway we wished we would of grabbed more! We also got a slice of tiramisu and it was good cake but it was missing more flavor, so I only had a couple bites. Overall I was very pleased with all the different options We will definitely be back for more cannoli’s! And next time I will also try their cookies. So glad I found this place!

I was across the street getting my car smog checked and decided to have a sweet as I waited. What a nice surprise to find this wonderful little bakery. I could to try everything because there were so many choices. But what I had was very good. They bake with real butter not vegetable shortening. You can taste is. They make this little cookie which looks like a cinnamon rolls on there side. They are soft and buttery and so so good. I have no problem recommending this store. Enjoy yourself.

I am not expert on the bakeries of San Fernando. I can tell you La Palma products were the staple for family members through two owners. Most people are happy. It’s usually been closed when I’m in the area, or I blazed through on journeys to the four directions. I went in early this week and found bran muffins, not a common item in any kind of bakery these days. I bought two, and they were good later in the day. In general I find Mexican pastries un poco dulce para mi gusto. These too were sweet and sticky. I finished them. No complaints. They also had our favorites, marranitos. I did not buy any of La Palma’s little pigs. I’ll get some on my way out of town if they’re open. There’s a variety of conchas, empanadas, etc. Marcial was unloading trays of bollilos from the oven as I stood at the counter. They sure looked good to me. They were nicely risen, brown and fresh. A hot bollilo y mantequilla sounds really good right now. Maybe well try La Palma’s next time. The case was full of artistic cakes. I’ll definitely try La Palma again and report back.

Back in the day when my dad used to take me as a little girl the line used to go out the door cuz their bread was the bomb! But since the transfer of ownership this place has gone downhill bigtime! The difference is so noticeable that my entire family has completely stopped going to the bakery. SAD! I want the old La Palma back!

I have mix feelings about this place. The cakes and pastries taste great however; when it comes to serious business, I don’t think I could ever trust them again. After meeting with the baker regarding design, pricing, contract and etc., I was really looking forward to our next appointment for cake tasting and contract. Keep in mind that I confirmed our next appointment TWICE prior to our meeting JUST to make sure there would be cakes to taste as he promised. When I arrived to my appointment(not to mention with my fiancé, maid of honor and mother), I was told that they were unaware of my appointment. The person who attended me said she could help, but only to contradict everything the baker noted the prior week(she increased the price by $ 300, disagreed on the design the baker and I selected, and had NOTHING for us to taste. She was RUDE and just shut me down.
