I give credit where credit is due and this place lacks A LOT of things in the food/taste department. I’ve given this spot a try a couple of times just to see if my first experience was a mishap but nope I know now what I got is their norm. First I ordered a double bacon cheeseburger. The bacon was almost raw(I went through the drive thru so I didn’t realize this until I was home.) I literally pulled out two ultra softish bacon slices almost as if I got them from my fridge. Second the burger meat was dry with no dam flavor. Third I swear they tried to get rid of all their lettuce because it was ridiculously loaded with the chopped kind. No joke picture the palm of your hand full of chopped lettuce AND the burger still had lettuce inside! Fourth the mayo secret sauce had some weird after taste. Fifth the FRIES for the love of god were hard. Not the crispy kind with the soft center. Just straight up hard. I know what keeps this place going is being the only burger spot that’s not a fast food chain in San Fernando. However, I can only imagine those that frequent this place are parents who force their kids to eat here or the older generation with a loss of the taste buds. The guys that work here have been super cool and I give them props! Hey, it’s a job and it’s another open business in San Fernando! As for me though, I’ll get my burger fix in Pacoima when I’m in the area. Yes, the drive thru works. Cash only establishment. Free parking on the lot or street.

This is literally my #1 place to eat. It doesn’t get any better than their chili cheese fries. The workers are friendly. The place is clean. And those chili cheese fries are worth billions!

Very good hamburger that has size and taste. Very good daily specials too. Try the pastrami sandwich

Regret coming! Why did I think this place was going to be any good. I would have rather used my money some where else. Honestly. I ordered a steak sandwich. Instead I got a sandwich that was overloaded with mayo, the meat was super dry and absolutely had no flavor, one small slice of tomato. Absolutely disgusting. Never again

Rude and incompetent staff. Quality is now garbage and again staff should really all be fired. Sadly the clowns running it have turned this place into a real life«chum-bucket». The burgers are not half as good as they were before. I still frequented this place once in a while just for the nostalgia of it all, since I ate here for about 25 years but not anymore. I waited for 5 minutes waiting to place an order at the drive thru and the staff would peak out to see me and ignore the fact I was there. I was confused and thought the machine was broken. So I waited another 15 to pull up to the window just to be told by the incompetent cashier to go around to place my order and wait another 30 minutes for my food. NEVER waste your time eating this garbage.

The most disgusting chili I have ever tasted. Oily and void of flavor. Kids said it tasted like play-do. Drive a little further and go to In and Out. Trust me.

Perhaps Tommy was once ran a famous drive in, but there is little to commend this place, other than the name on the sign. This is a short-order burger joint with a big menu. Plenty there to take away your hunger pangs, but nothing there to bring you back for more. Think of it as Tommy’s Drive By, and roll on down the road to something better.

Meh… used to like this place, til I went to the little burger joint a half a block up. But this place has been here forever, and the portions are large. I threw away half of my order of fries. Great foo… no. For that go to Old Fashion about a half a block up.

They had great food up until about a couple months ago where they all of sudden were or have been roach infested… I found a live roach in my fries and a dead one in my burger. .brought it to the workers attention and he said that they know but the owner hasn’t done anything to fix the problem. I haven’t been back nor will I return. So be careful of what you eat.

Place is low quality. Chili looked like apple sauce. I paid 27 dollars for two combos. Never coming back

I used to love coming here but it’s changed so much. The quality is not the same. I can look past the fact that it’s cash only but now there’s nothing to come back for. If I’m hard up I’ll make the drive to queens in Pacoima.

My family has been eating here for over 30 years. The owner always greets my entire family. He even knows exactly what we like to order. The burgers are great. The pastrami sandwiches are also good. Great place.

Had a cheese burger, and it was amazing. It is only cash that’s a downside, but the burgers made up for that.

I like this place but it could be better with shredded beef tacos and burritos The reason you order then pay makes it easy for any worker to take the order but when you pay the owner handles the register It kinda makes sense if you think about it But it’s a cool looking place with pretty good food

Wow tommys how dispointing. i agree with alot of the reviewers on here the food is bland, the bland food doesnt explain the $ 8.00 i paid for a «tommys world famous drive through» bacon and cheese chili burger. First of the chilli was bland flavorless which is the whole point of a chilliburger im suppose to get heartburn damit. Next i didnt taste the cheese at all, as for the bacon it was crispy and good but i didnt get a first bite until half way through the burger. The fries were ehh ok. Tommys heres the facts youve got a burger place next to the library that is serving great burgers, offers wi-fi, ac, and takes credit cards. Do i need to say anymore? Here is some advice for you tommys when i came in i thought wow a 50s style burger joint must meen great food nope. When i walked in i noticed you have alot of soecials of the week going on but i cant see the full price main menu. My advice remove the weekly specials from the ordering are a so people can see the menu. Another thing close that second pay here window and charge only at one window believe me your not bussy enough to have two windows. Thirdly accept all major plastic devit, credit its 2014 we dont carry cash anymore. Good luck hope you make some changes and accept the advice or youlle be closed in 2 years.

What happened to this place? I remember eating here in the late 80s and early 90s and I always wanted to return. Now this place is a shadow of what it once was, and to make it worse it is more expensive! All the old cooks are gone and the product makes it evident that the quality went along with them. Case in point: I ordered a cheeseburger special(in other words, the drive-thru special) and the guy taking my order asked if I wanted cheese with that. Come on, now!

Nope, not the Original Tommy’s; it’s way better! I’ve been going to this burger joint since forever, pretty much. I’ve only ordered the special they have(all these years) and their chilly cheese fries… BOMB! I always tell myself I’ll order something different next time, I’ll let you know when I do. This place has not change, I kind of love that! The down side is that it’s CASHONLY! The employees do their work, not real friendly, but they’ve never been Aholes; plus this seems to be the place that never gets my order wrong(then again it would be kind of weird if they did get the special wrong) and they have never forgotten anything when going through the drive thru, like other fast food places -.- Don’t knock it down till you try it.
