While it’s nice to see a produce market in a stretch of Geary with a dearth of grocery stores, it is frustrating that they do not have even one scale for customers to use. I’d prefer to shop at a produce market where I can check the weight of my string beans before bringing them up to the check-out counter. Fortunately, every other produce store I’ve ever visited has at least one scale, out in the aisles, for customers to use.

5-Star Market. Tons of organic, local produce, mushrooms, goat cheeses, breads, beans, teas, wines, pasture-raised organic eggs, and sustainably-ranched meats. Smart, friendly, and knowledgeable farmers and crew at the helm. Super stoked to contribute to the stewardship of local soils and sustainable ag-business without the corporate destruction/distribution. Setting the standard!

really good farmer’s market. great prices, fresh produce. And the really neat thing is that they are there everyday, not just a weekend thing. I now buy most of my fresh vegetables from here, and am thrilled to have found them.

I will go across the City just to shop here. Great selection and cheap pricing. Love this place!

Rude staff. Never said hello, never told me my total, never said thank you or goodbye. This is a sad place. First time and last time shopping here.

I love this market! They have a nice variety of fruits and vegetables! Reasonable prices, great staff. They have moved shelves so we can get through in our wheelchairs. I left my wallet at home today and the lady was nice enough to ring it up, put it to the side with the receipt in the bag, therefore I only had to pay when I made it back. I was starving and one of the staff was kind enough to wash my grapes. Fruit salad for dinner!!! Thank you!!!

This is my Go-To for produce. I juice, so I’m here a couple times a week. They’re nice, well-stocked and it seems cleaner than other places in the area. They have some of the things I can’t find at the other markets, like Kale and Jicama. Also, the prices are definitely the best of all the markets I’ve been to.

This is a pretty decent fruit and veg store. Best thing is the prices — super cheap. I bought whole squash, eggplant, cabbage, parsnip, two grapefruits, some wild rice for the grand total of $ 6. It’s not as ‘nice’ as Whole Foods or even TJ’s, and not all the produce out is ‘perfect’, but price can’t be beaten. They also have a range of other items: pasta, tinned goods, tortillas, cheese, yoghurt, dried pulses and legumes.

Cheap groceries!!! The quality may be a little lower than Whole Foods, and the displays not so nice, but when it comes down to it, I just want to save money on my produce. They sell beat-up /dejected produce here at super discounted prices, which is perfect for me when I want to stew /bake /smoothie-up my items. – 4 lbs of bananas for $ 1(perfect for banana bread!) – pre-bagged random bags of potatoes, onions, carrots, etc for less than $ 1(perfect for soups!) And their regular produce is cheap too! Ok fine, maybe equivalent to the stores on Clement street. Look at how much I was able to buy for $ 6.60: They take credit cards if your purchase is over $ 10.

After shopping at Safeway on 7th and Cabrillo and Trader Joes on Masonic and Geary, it is safe to say that I will no longer be buying fruit and vegetables at either store. I would instead prefer to get two huge bags of fruits and veggies for half(or less than half the price) of what Safeway or TJ’s charges. Great selection. Greater price.

Ive been going here 2 – 3 times a week for years now but had a really frustrating experience that really makes me not want to go back. Picture the 2 checkstands, left and right. A line forms down the aisle in front of each. I came in last week and got 2 items and noticed the left register was open but there was a line of 3 people waiting down the right aisle for the left register. I guess I could have been a jerk and pretended I didn’t see them and try to go next, but I obviously saw they were waiting so I waited my turn. When I was next, I noticed a woman with a banana get in line in the left aisle. She looked directly at me and I said«The line is over here» and she smirked and looked away. So as the last person finished I walked up to the counter and put my food down, and she came behind me and put her banana in front of my food, closer to the cashier. The cashier took the banana and pushed my food aside, and rang her up. I said excuse me, I was next, and they both 100% ignored me. I then directly adressed the woman and said«Excuse me, why are you cutting the line» and she looked at me and rolled her eyes. I then addressed the cashier and said«Why are you letting her cut the line» and was totally ignored. The woman left and the cashier then rang my food up without a word. I asked her why she is ignoring me and why she let that woman cut the line. She says«Sorry I didnt know you were next, the line starts there» and she points to the left aisle. I told her look, there are 5 people in the right aisle waiting for your register. I don’t know why, but I got in line and waited my turn. Silent stare. That is not a way to treat a customer that shops there 2 – 3 times a week. I have no interest in going back. They aren’t the only cheap produce gig in the neighborhood.

4th Ave. & Geary isn’t really a farmers market but they do carry a lot of veggies and produce. just a glance at the bananas(.69) and ginger(1.45) gave me a hint the pricing may be above reasonable but not cheap. they also carry dairy products, dried nuts/fruits, juices, etc. drink: hansen’s mango juice(.99) –not as flavorful as i remembered. tasted mostly water… notes: –cash only

Came by with my dad because the apples on Clement didn’t look too good. They have a pretty decent selection of fruits and vegetables as well as basic grocery store staple. Everything was pretty well priced and in most cases a little bit cheaper than the stores on Clement. Some of the produce didn’t look so good but like anywhere else you pick and choose what you want to buy. We got some great apples for $.89/lb that were crisp and slightly tart. 2 bunches of radishes with the tops still on for $ 1 and a handful of limes. All of that for $ 3 and change! Since my dad and I go out to Clement once a week for groceries, we’ll definitely be back to check out what they have here.

Happened to be walking in the area and decided to check out this market after driving by many times. This farmers market has a pretty extensive selection of fruits and vegetables. The prices for most produce items are reasonable to what you might find at a typical supermarket. You do have to check for the freshness of the item you are buying as some things appear to be at the«use it today or by tomorrow» stage.

Long overdue review. This market is better than the ones on Clement, they carry a wider variety of fruit and produce. The prices are affordable. Do keep in mind it’s a cash only place. It’s conveniently located right at the corner of 4th and Geary so you don’t have to take a long trek to a supermarket if you’re not in the heart of SF. Definitely at least check it out to see if it’s for you.

It’s hit or miss with the geary farmers market shop. Sometimes you’ll get fruit that looks smell and feels perfect but its terribly rotten or mealy inside! Sometimes you’ll get stuff that feels good and its abrasively tart and underripe. And on those very rare chances you’ll hit it on the sweet spot and in that case you’d better gobble it up fast because it won’t last more than 24 hours. Dude I tell you, conventional produce farming just SuCKs plain and simple. The proof is in the mealy plum pudding. I shop here anyway because everything looks beautiful, there’s always a lot of it, and its always rock bottom prices. Cash only. Bring your own bag!

Fresh produce and very convenient. Too bad parking sucks on Clement and in the Richmond District. The prices are really good too, and perfect for a nice veggie dinner with all the variety they have here. Old school chinese owned place with old chinese ladies cutting up them veggies for you too.

So far, so good. Really cheap produce. Makes me wonder sometimes if it’s fresh but haven’t gotten sick or anything yet. I just pick out the veggies that look & feel okay. If not, don’t get it. Kale, eggplant, bell peppers, artichokes, swiss chard, portabello mushrooms all g. From now on, my go-to market to buy veggies!

Some days the produce is great. But some days they’re rotten and flies are swarming like vultures around a dead carcass. I haven’t figured out which days they get their fresh produce but I think this is an important piece of info for future references. The prices are great and the selection is also a little bit better than some of the produce places in the neighborhood. One of my major concerns about this place is the way management treats their employees. I’ve witnessed the cashiers being yelled at on several occasions without any disregard for the customers watching in horror. So sad…

Definitely one of the cheaper produce stands in the area, with a decent array of seasonal fruit. The quality is hit or miss– the outdoor fruit in particular seems to be over-ripe, but usually the quality is «just» adequate. I didn’t expect much more than a Chinese semi-outdoor fruit stand… and that’s exactly what this is. Prices are usually 99 cents/lb or cheaper, and usually about 25% cheaper than the grocery store. Just be extra choosey with the quality. It’s also open later than most of the fruit stands, which is nice. Also: cash only(the closest banks, Wells Fargo and Chase, are at least a few blocks away), and street parking is hit or miss.
