Established in 2000.

A successful sports massage practice for over 12 years and originally located in Atlanta, GA, A Touch Of The Specific is now open in the Financial District in San Francisco. My focus has always been that I blend many different massage techniques in concert with your needs as my client to create a customized and focused session that addresses those issues that are most important to you. You will find the sessions deep but not painful and that you will have much less pain and stiffness long after the work is completed. It is my goal to help you do better and not to be on my table all the time.

I was hit by a car 18 months ago. Kathryn (Kate) Woodford with A Touch of the Specific, has been working on me to helping me heal. She is amazing, knowledgable, intuitive, excellent, and deeply compassionate. Her skills are beyond measure. I had broken bones and bruises and she knew what to do. She specializes in sports massage, she has worked with athletes & dancers, and me — who is just an office worker. Kate came highly recommended to me and it is evident why. She is the most amazing, thorough, and healing massage therapist I have ever experienced.

Kate loves her work, she loves making your body feel better and be better. She focussed on my areas, she worked me over – always careful and sensitive to any discomfort I might feel. No hurt, deep feeling and movement! I felt so loose and good walking out of there and it lasted me for days! Kate is really smart and sensitive to the whole person.

I am an Ironman triathlete. I just returned from competing in the Ironman World Championship race in Hawaii and I am preparting for another race — two ironman triathlons, only a few weeks apart. I couldn’t do this without Kate’s help. It is a little difficult to explain exactly but her massages are strong but NOT hard! I like a super-​deep massage so I typically have to go to a male masseur; however his massages just feel hard, and hurt. Kate is able to go deep without «hard» or «hurt». She really teases the «crap» out of my muscles. So I can hit the road again. It is definitely worth giving Kate a try.

Kate is a gifted massage therapist. She focuses on sports massage which is perfect for the stress I put on my body with intense dance classes. After the first massage my alignment improved and the effects of the massage lasted for over a week. After 3 massages I no longer have the nagging tightness in my hip when I dance. My dancing has actually improved over the last few months since I have started seeing Kate.
The amazing thing about Kate is her sensitivity and skill. I’m a wimp when it comes to massage. Kate is able to go deep into the muscles without causing pain or discomfort. I never feel sore after a massage, just wonderfully loose and relaxed. Thank you Kate!
