Esmeralda is the best. I usually cut my own hair,(YES myself) however I was pregnant, feeling down and wanted a instant boost and something different. So, I waddled in and was seated within 5 mins, Esmeralda got to work. She used the usual scissors plus a blade I was in and out and she totally transformed my hair effortlessly.
However, after it grew out I went back and she was off that day (Monday) and I had someone else cut it. Worse haircut ever.
So point is story is ask for Esmeralda.
Also, their voicemail is always full so its hard to make an appt with them.

I really wish I can give this dump a zero star rating for their poor excuse of customer service. I made my appointment a little over a month before to get my hair done for my wedding. My appointment was on a Monday at 10am (which is the time they open) with Helen.
I was outside of the business at 9:50am and was waiting. 10:05am still waiting, 10:10am…10:15am still waiting!!! I called them at 10:15am and told them I was waiting outside and that the salon was still closed.
I went across the street and luckily there was someone who was available to do my hair. 11:30am comes around and still no phone call from Access Salon.
So, I called them and the front desk chick informed me that Helen had called out sick (which is completely fine) however, a PHONE CALL would have been appreciated or they should of booked me with someone else for my time slot! The only thing that the front desk person could say was «I am so sorry, we got here at 10:25, I don’t know what to say». Pathetic.
I told her I would never come back. They lost a good client.

I have been going to this hair salon for about 8 years. I get my hair done by Esmeralda and she is amazing!!! I damaged my hair really bad twice and she has brought it back to life. She listens to what you want and makes sure you are happy, I have gotten hair cuts, highlights, ombré, etc and I am ALWAYS 100% satisfied with her. I live all the way in Antioch and drive to San Francisco just to get my hair done with Esmeralda. Helen does my sisters hair and it always looks amazing as well. Very welcoming place, always clean. I always recommend it to all my family and friends.

This place is only good for a haircut, not to friendly, I was here to get a relaxer in my hair, all that weekend before I could wash it, nappy tangled hair, when washed not only did my hair get burned, came back lady had attitude but did get another deep conditioning & money back, never coming back, back to my first good experience in Chinatown

Monica and Hellen are the best!!!

Been going there for maybe about a year. Monica is meticulous! I always get compliments. She is my go-​to, but also had a cut by a couple other gals and always a good job. Try to make an appointment and get there a bit before. If a big color job comes in before you, you might be waiting. Also great with kids cuts and very affordable. Tip big because you can!

worst service ever!!! they mess up ur hair once then go back to «try» to get it fixed the make it worst by cutting ur hair and one side is longer than the other! then they start tell ing me what to do like you are not the boss of me. i ask you one thing they go off saying something else! if i can giving then a negative infinity i would!!!

This space is always clean and well lit and airy. They have a great display of products and a comfortable waiting area with seating for you while you wait. The staff is friendly and talkative and welcoming. I’ve always been greeted nicely and treated well. I’ve also always observed the staff being kind to everyone else that has walked in. Overall this place is great for me and I haven’t wanted to go anywhere else since I found out about it through a friend at work about a year ago.

After coming here for years I wouldn’t of seen this day coming! Went in there knowing exactly what I wanted and Helen didn’t give it to me. Totally messed my hair color up. I went in with a washed out red wanting a honey brown color. Not to mention had another client come in half in hour after I did to do color cut and all of the above. How can you be working on two people’s hair at the same time? I can see if it was just a cut but no. I would have lliked to be the only one she’s working on but no. Not only that but she had to dye it twice to get the ridiculous color to look not even good the second time around! Told me I didn’t have to pay and at the end still ended up charging me! Ain’t that something.

I have been coming to this salon for 3 years now. My hair is really curly and Helen does a great job straightening, Helen is a great stylist, my hair has never looked better color and keratin are perfect.
If you are looking for the perfect person to give you perfect hair — Helen L. is the best… She is a true talent … she is a sweetheart.

Love this place friendly staff I have been getting my hair done at access for a while now and I love it… Most def recommend it…

If possible I would give this place a zero. I came in with elbow length hair looking to get a cut a little below shoulder length at all one length. I showed the lady (a young girl about 23) a picture of what I wanted and she assured me it would look the same. A few cuts later I was looking at at shoulder length hair. I asked her to stop. She had already cut too much. Then she told me I needed layers or else I was going to look like a mushroom and asked if she was going to do layers on just the ends or more. I asked for her to thin and she cut layers. But not modest layers, she cut huge chunks from my hair and when I asked for her to stop she said «Well its not even so I have to keep going» and proceeded to cut more. Long story short I now have chin length hair and very hideous looking short layers that are uneven and went home and cried. P. S. They did not donate my hair
