Something exciting is stalking the bay! Since 1991, ADVENTURE CAT has been prowling the San Francisco Bay, giving world class tours, and delighting everyone who came aboard. Our Catamarans are 55’and 65′ with roomy enclosed cabins, and feature two large forward trampolines for those who love the wind in their hair.

We offer two family friendly Bay Cruises, and a romantic Sunset Cruise daily. We also invite you to charter the whole boat for private parties. Thousands of people young and old have enjoyed sailing on ADVENTURE CAT.

History

Established in 1991.

Adventure Cat is a catamaran built by hand except the aluminum mast and backup engines. The boat was a combined effort between owners Jay and Pam Gardener and partner Hans Korfin and others. Described as” fun without fear” the Adventure Cat deems a second hull to ensure a smoother and faster ride.

The moment you step onto Adventure Cat you feel like you’ve teleported into another reality. With every wave that passes you slowly sail away from the evidence of man’s dominance on this planet. All that’s remains is the breath taking views of the sea and sky and a few landmarks on your journey. Sail on !

One of my most favorite things about the City is that is surrounded by water. I love being near the water – I truly feel like it’s good for the soul! That being said, taking in the bay from the shores can be beautiful, but what’s better than actually getting out there on a boat? Look no further than Adventure Cat!
For a relatively cheap $ 40 you can sail around the bay for 90 minutes on a beautiful catamaran and sip on some wine with music in the background. Avoid the crowds on the ferries!
If you plan to go, I would definitely suggest booking in advance because they do sell out. I spent my big 3 – 0 sailing around with these guys and I couldn’t have asked for a better day so thank you Adventure Cat!

Come aboard the Adventure Cat and enjoy an amazing view of the San Francisco Bay and the Golden Gate Bridge… right from the water! The spacious catamaran leaves from the iconic Pier 39 and takes you around Alcatraz and under the Golden Gate Bridge. Experience the exhilaration of fresh air, wind, and waves while riding on this stable, safe boat. You have the option of hanging out on the deck or staying in the covered cabin.
The sailing experience can be enjoyed as a family activity or as a romantic date. Adventure Cat offers both a Bay Sail during the day or a Sunset Sail in the evening. I’d personally recommend the Sunset Sail, during which you can watch the city glows as the sun sets behind the Golden Gate Bridge.

My wife and I came to SF for our 10yr anniversary. She surprised me with this sailing trip. It was by far the highlight of our trip! Captain Tony and Michael made sure it was a terrific experience. If you go to SF make sure you do this. You sail under the Golden Gate Bridge and get to see the city from the bay. If we go back to SF we plan to do it again.

I went for a sunset cruise last night with my husband. An hour and a half cruise includes snacks (crudités, Brie, crackers, grapes, chips n salsa, artichoke dip, and sour dough bread) and drinks (beer, wine, soft drinks, water). It was super foggy most of the time, but we really enjoyed the fog. The sun broke through a couple of times as we sailed past Alcatraz.
Delightful captain and crew. It was the day after Halloween and the small crew were dressed as a little dragon and zombie hotdog.
Our short trip seemed less like a tourist attraction and more like a sail with friends.

Definitely recommend.
Went on a weekday at 1pm. There were only 6 others on the boat besides my friend and I. Having a smaller group on the boat was great because it ended up being quiet and relaxing. Easygoing music added to the cruising mood.
Gate to the dock is just to the left of the sea lions.
We didn’t reserve tickets online and were able to walk-​on (we just paid on board). I would recommend doing walk-​on especially if the day looks foggy or there is rain in the forecast. My friend and I had planned to go on Adventure Kat and then an hour before the launch it started to rain. It was so foggy you couldn’t see the Golden Gate Bridge. But then the rain let up and the sun broke through the clouds, so we decided to go for it.
The two crew members were friendly and easy to approach with questions.
We saw porpoises just past the GGB!

Such an amazing time on the water! The catamaran is totally unique in that you can actually sit on a net over the water. There’s also inside seating or you can walk around and just enjoy the gorgeous views. The crew was super sweet and they have an open bar and appetizers. They let my husband bring his service dog on noises and he loved it too lol. I like that they play music and just let you relax without having to listen to some corny tour guide. Next time were in SF we’ll def do it again!

Horrible customer service. Just booked a sailing trip through Unilocal,never received a confirmation email so emailed them to see what was up. Received a curt email informing me the tour I booked was sold out, but no apologies or information on how to get a refund. When I asked about this, they again did not apologize and simply copy and pasted the name of a third party vendor to call.
I then called, hoping to receive more detailed information or at least an apology, and again was simply referred to the third party vendor, the company acting like they hadn’t done anything wrong.
I’m sorry? How come I was able to book a trip that was sold out in the first place? And secondly, if it was sold out, why did I never receive an email apologizing and informing me. If I hadn’t reached out on my own, I would have had NO IDEA it was cancelled!
If you’re going to enable booking through Unilocal or any third party services, you need to take responsibility for the booking process regardless of who makes an error. And first rule of customer service, you always apologize, even if it’s not you who messed up.
Beyond lame! I’ll be taking my business elsewhere.

Ive been on adventure cat sailing charters twice now. I did a day trip and also the sunset sail. I liked the sunset sail much better. The views are gorgeous with the sun setting and also the staff provides drinks and snack for the guests. The only downside is it might be a little more cooler in the evening. The day trip is fun as well you can purchase things on board and its great seeing the bay this way. Overall the price and quality of what you get is really great. You don’t hear your typical touristy discussion so its a fun option if you live in this area. Great staff always willing to answer questions!

Just took the sunset cruise tonight with my wife and two daughters this evening.
This was the most enjoyable thing we have done as s family ever. Amazing sights and a very accommodating crew.
We dressed for the trip but if some came unprepared, they even had coats for them to wear.
Would highly recommend any visitor to San Francisco to put this trip on top of their to do list
I’d like to have one of their shirts. They should sell shirts, hats and jackets with their logo on them.
Can’t wait to do it again.

Adventure Cat Sailing Charters is successful not only because they take people sailing in one of the most beautiful places in the world, but also because of the crew! I’m not sure if Captain Hans is still with Adventure Cat, but he makes the Adventure. They have been in business for years and years (at least 15 that I know of, maybe 20). It’s a true sailing experience. The crew makes you feel welcome and comfortable. Whether the Captain is Hans or Jay, you will be blessed with the presence of overwhelming experience and knowledge of not just the Bay but of life, which as I say, makes the experience of the Adventure Cat such an amazing one. If you go in the summer (anytime that is not late September or October) bring warm clothes. I was born in SF and lived there as an adult for many years, so listen to a professional! ;) Happy Sailing!

Jacob was really nice, helpful, and was able to get us on from standby which was lucky for us because this tour is amazing.
Beautiful views, plenty of space to move around (though I never really moved), and of course a bar.
Complementary jackets on board for the ride in case you thought San Francisco would be 80 degrees in June like I did.
Good music, funny captain, well behaved guests, couldn’t ask for a better time.

AMAZING. Catamarans are the way to go for a chill smooth ride around the bay. The crew is super chill & fun. They have extra jackets in case your own clothing isn’t cutting the wind/​cold air. There are snacks & drinks available to help calm edgy tummies. They pick fun/​chill music to play as we glide over the waves. Definitely fit for dancing.
For an hour & a half ride around our bay landmarks (Alcatraz, golden gate, Sausalito) it was a great price.
We had so much fun & wanted to stay on for the next tour. I highly recommend adventure cats especially for first time sailors & tourists.

This was an amazing experience. I’ve been on a few other boat tours around the bay, and this one is my favorite so far. It was very relaxing and low-​key. The captain played music the entire time, rather than playing a site-​seeing recording. If you prefer to hear information about the various places the boat travels, they provide audio cassettes for you to listen to. My boyfriend and I chose to just lay on the nets and enjoy the music/​views. Although beware, you will probably get splashed a little if you lay on the nets. We did, but it was sort of fun!
They were experiencing some technical difficulties, and so our boat didn’t end up leaving until ~25 after the scheduled time. The crew was extremely apologetic, made sure to update us every 5 minutes with what the status was, provided drinks/​snacks on the house as an apology, and made sure we still got our entire 90 minutes on the bay in. I was very impressed. There were only about 7 people on our tour, so it felt very intimate which I liked.
They have plenty of warm jackets for you to use if you get cold. They also had a table set up with complimentary chips, dip, nut assortments, etc.
The entire crew was extremely friendly the whole time. They offered to take pictures for us, offered jackets when we were cold, took our finished drinks to throw away so we wouldn’t have to leave the front of the boat.
Overall, very laid back and relaxing charter. Would definitely go again!

Absolutely must do it! It is thrilling. Do yourself a favor, though: don’t wear shorts. When the wind is up it is REALLY brisk. Wearing something to cover your ears is also a good idea.
The boat flies over the water, under the GG bridge, near Sausalito, with great views of the City and Alcatraz. Way too many camera opportunities!
This is definitely something I’ll recommend to my out-​of-​town visitors.

AMAZING crew & trip! Im glad I checked Unilocal prior to choosing a larger ship, this is the way to go! Amazing views of the bay, Golden Gate, and of course Alcatraz. Wear layers or if you forget, they have huge warm coats to throw on! Be brave and sit out front… you wont regret it!
Nice surprise we had 2 drinks also included, but FYI… multiply the drinks x2 if you do have any, the catamaran never stops moving once you get off!

What an experience. Best scenery you can imagine. You will never see another scenery that is equal to cruising the bay just before sunset and seeing San Francisco from a 60ft catamaran.
Going under the Golden Gate Bridge was breathtaking. The views of the San Francisco skyline at night is amazing. I will warn you to please take a warm jacket. It gets very nippy on the bay. The sail crew was outstanding and very accommodating. I will definitely be back to take another cruise the next time I visit the bay area. 5-​stars.
