Adventures In Dog Walking

A follow up to my note above:
Adventures in Dog Walking has taken care of Lucca, our 5 year old mini golden doodle, for nearly three years. We moved to San Francisco from Atlanta and immediately started demanding jobs. Obviously, as anyone with a pet knows, we are pretty smitten with our dog and want her to have the best nutrition, exercise, and care available. We quickly found Adventures and were impressed with Justin’s kindness and the fact that he and his team are all extensively trained. He and his wife are both former vet techs, and we were comforted knowing that if anything happened to Lucca or she was sick (more on this later), she would be qualified hands. Lucca is a friendly and playful dog, but it was clear that she felt comfortable with Justin during our «interview» process. We signed up.
In the past three years, Justin and his team have been no less than lifesavers, both to us and to Lucca. She has never been healthier. She has food allergies, and before finding Adventures, we tried many food options to find something that would work for her sensitive tummy. Justin recommended a food that has greatly reduced all of her symptoms and helped her maintain a healthy weight. She gets a ton of exercise each day, as the team takes her to the beach and other areas where she can run and play with the other dogs off leash (if off leash isn’t right for your dog, they will keep him or her on a leash or help train them to play safety off leash). She has built a lot of lean muscle due to the activity, and looks better than ever (we call this her California figure).
Lucca also adores the AiDW team. On the occasional day when my husband or I work from home, we witness her excitement when one of the team members arrives. She runs to the door, and after several hours, returns home tired and happy.
Her daily happiness and health are obviously priorities for us, but also for AiDW. They take care of her as if she is their own dog. When the AiDW team notices that she’s scratching her ear or shaking her head a lot, symptoms of an ear infection, they let us know. When she’s scratching on spot on her belly a lot, evidence of a hot spot, they let us know. When she gets sick to her stomach during play time, meaning she might have eaten something funny on a walk with me, they let us know. They are very conscious of and helpful with all kinds of ailments and always have a recommendation for healing.
Another obvious reason why we love AiDW is for the convenience. If we book a last minute weekend trip and need a sitter, Justin has always been available to keep Lucca overnight. This was especially handy of late. The morning that my husband and I were leaving on a two week vacation to Australia and Bali, Lucca was attacked and bitten quite badly in two areas. This attack required a minor procedure (enough to require anesthesia), sutures, 6 drains, bandages, the works. We were obviously incredibly shaken, as was Lucca, as the wounds were so bad that we could have lost her if she’d become septic. We would have cancelled our trip had it not been for AiDW. Not only did we book them incredibly last minute, but they took care of Lucca perhaps even better than we could have. They took her to the vet for a check up, changed bandages, answered my incessant text messages inquiring on her recovery (and those from my mother, who was also very concerned about her granddog), sent us photos of her, and kept her strong. She recovered beautifully. When she wasn’t eating well due to the antibiotics, they gave her probiotics to keep her healthy. In short, they loved her as if she was their own. We could not be more grateful for this care. We were able to relax and enjoy our trip because we knew she was in the very best hands.
These are kind, compassionate, and knowledgeable people. We trust them deeply and are so grateful for their service. We cannot recommend highly enough.

We just started with Adventures in Dog Walking last week and I can not express how awesome they are. A few things that amazed me: Justin agreed to do a meet & greet with us on a Sunday and was immediately in tune with my dog, Lyle. They have on line bill pay /​invoicing which makes it SO much easier to keep things in check. Lyle has come home every day tuckered out and I know he’s getting a good workout when out with the pack. Our dog loves Adventures in Dog Walking!!! My husband and I have used them for 6 months and couldn’t be happier. I have met Justin and most of his staff and they are reliable, friendly and our dog loves them. Cece is exhausted when we get home from work and we’ve even noticed she’s much better off leash since we’ve started walks with AIDW. I highly recommend AIDW to other dog owners.

Justin & Erin have been taking care of my dog, Dexter, for over 2 years now and I couldn’t be happier with the continued decision to work with them. They have a great group of dog walkers, are incredibly friendly, and really care about the dogs that they are walking.

We are very fortunate to have been referred to the Adventures team prior to bringing Chewy home at 8 weeks. From the very beginning, they invested alot of time in his well-​being. They went the extra mile with personal attention and training that was crucial for both him (and me)! Three years later, the team has continued to be an integral part of his entire life and played a huge role in his development and happiness. Justin (and team) are extremely responsible, reliable, and responsive. Two paws up!

Justin, Erin and Michelle have been walking Gumbo for nearly two years now and they are awesome. He always comes back happy and exhausted — you can’t ask for more! In addition to his daily walks, they have helped me out every time I have been in a pinch and could not make it home to walk Gumbo after work. It is so nice knowing I have someone who I can count on if the work day consumes me. He also stays over at their house when I go away for weekends and holidays, which is so nice to know my dog is being well taken care of and loved. I have even heard he makes his way in to the bed! Thanks for everything!

Justin, Erin and Doug (among all of the other walkers) are phenomenal. I have a rambunctious pit mix who is very weary of strangers, especially men. When Doug comes to pick him up, he cannot contain his excitement (I think he likes him more than me ;)). It gives me so much joy that I can trust them with my pup. They also provide simple training and it really does show. Justin is always very prompt and responsive if I have a question and has helped Jackson become a better leash walker. I truly cannot say enough good things about this company! They’re also the most reasonable priced dog walker I’ve found in the Bay Area.

We’ve been with Adventures in Dog Walking for over a year and originally hired them when our previous dog walker raised their fee drastically. I wish we had been with them all along. Justin and Erin are both great with our dog Oscar, and they’re great business people as well. Oscar looks forward to his walks, and this is evidenced by the fact that if I’m home when they come to pick him up, he runs to the door in his crooked way (when he’s super excited). He is typically hesitant to go with anyone if I’m home at the time he gets picked up.
I trust this company explicitly and am very happy to have found them.

Justin, Erin, Michelle and the gang have been taking out our dog Jack for almost six months now — he loves them! This dog has a serious amount of energy per pound — all 10 pounds of his Chihuahua craziness — and it takes a lot to tire him out. Luckily the day with Adventures in Dog Walking seems to do it. We come home from work to a relaxed and happy dog :-) Thanks to the ADW team for taking such good care of our little guy!

Justin + Erin having been taking care of my little man for almost a year and he loves them! He is a mini Labradoodle named Turtle :) They truly take him on an adventure everyday and I am very thankful as I have a full time job. Definitely check them out!

ADW has looked after our golden retriever for the last 2+ years, and I can’t say enough about Justin, Erin and team. Our dog gets picked up like clockwork each weekday and spends 2 – 2.5 hours out having fun. She’s always wiped out when my wife and I get home from work. In addition to the daily walks, ADW has been a great boarding option — reasonably priced, and she gets to stay with people she knows well. Justin’s always been just terrific to deal with as well. The whole team is flexible, responsive and reliable.

Honestly we probably would not have been able to keep our dog if it hadn’t been for the incredible work Justin and team have done to help us with his training and socialization. Bullwinkle was a rescue, and was pretty nuts when we got him. He has a LOT of energy, and he needs a LOT of attention, and Justin has been unbelievably accommodating and absolutely integral to Bully’s general development. It’s great that he gets to go out and play with other dogs every day (necessary, in fact), and that’s what Adventures provides. I highly recommend these folks to anyone looking for a full-​time mid-​day energy expenditure during the week for their dog.

Justin, Erin and the rest of the Adventures in Dog Walking staff are amazing. You can tell that this is not just a job for them, but that they really love and enjoy working with dogs. My husband and I work full time and I commute to the south bay which makes it a struggle to get our puppy the exercise she needs during the week. Knowing that she is out with Justin and Erin for a few hours M-​F running, hiking and playing with her doggie friends means we don’t have to worry that she isn’t getting the exercise she needs. They are friendly, flexible and just all around nice people. Also, they don’t just walk the dogs, but they «run» them. I can tell when I come home in the evening to a happy, dirty, tired pup :-)
They also do some training with the dogs while they are out on walks which is evident by the good behavior our golden exhibits when we walk her on the weekends. They also offer private training and dog sitting as well. I’ve never been a fan of kennels, so it’s great to know that we can leave our dog with someone she knows and trusts when we are in a bind for dog care.
This is our second dog that we have sent out on walks with Adventures in Dog Walking and the level of service they offer can’t be beat. I really can’t recommend them enough! Whether you need someone to stop by and let your elderly dog out for a bathroom break, or you need someone to wear out a rambunctious 8 month old Golden Retriever puppy :-)

Couldn’t be happier with Justin, Erin and crew! We found them via Unilocal in January 2011 when we first moved to the city. They continue to keep Charleston, our 3yr old english bullie, happy and well exercised. They obviously love what they do for a living and it shows when Charlie starts his bulldog wiggle when he hears the front door opening around 1pm every day. We also appreciate their dog sitting services so that when we are out of town our pups get to stay with folks they know, rather than with strangers. Can’t say enough good things about Adventures in Dog Walking. Thanks for taking care such excellent care of our fur baby.

We started with Adventures on the recommendation of a friend who used them, and now, just about one year into it, we’d definitely recommend them to other friends looking for a dog walker/​trainer/​sitter/​whatever else. Buster and Lucy get lots & lots of needed exercise on their walks, they come home tired but happy, and I can’t say enough good things about the ADW crew. Justin was great about helping us when we first got our two pups, and he spent time with us helping us to learn how to handle our two sibling doggies. He’s still great when we have questions or concerns, and both he and Erin have been more than accommodating when we’ve had last-​minute doggie-​sitter requests.
Two Thumbs Up! (Or, I guess 5 Stars would be more appropriate…)

Since I found Adventures in Dog Walking on Unilocal,it’s only fair that I provide a review myself. My dog Otto has been playing with Justin, Erin and gang once he finished his last round of puppy shots. Since then, they have become an extended member of my family.
My dog Otto has a fabulous life that I know very little about. Everyday, Teresa comes to get Otto and takes him to an undisclosed location and brings him back somewhere between 2 – 2.5 hours later. Since Otto can’t talk to me (despite how many questions I ask him) I have no idea what kind of adventure he had that day. What I do know is that he is happy, tired, and certainly knows his way around Chrissy Field. Everyone talks in their reviews about Justin and Erin… so you know they are great. But I want to give a shout out to Teresa — Otto loves you! I happened to be home one day when she came to drop him off. As she left, Otto did not take his eyes off her until she was completely out of sight. It must be love.
I mentioned that ADW is like family and they really are! They have been involved in Otto growing up into an awesome little guy. In the ~year we’ve been a family Otto they have helped with Otto’s training, helped care for him when he was sick, looked after him when I was away, and even taught him some circus tricks. :) This is not just a team of dog walkers, they are my dog everything!

Adventures in Dog Walking is great! While my dog, Pixie, has always been excellent with other dogs she’s very nervous around people she doesn’t know and is generally weary of city life. Realizing that she craved more exercise I contacted Justin and asked if he’d consider walking a dog who’s afraid of people and cars.
Justin was extremely helpful and accommodating and his background as a vet tech and dog trainer was immediately evident. He met Pixie and me in our home and after she started to acclimate to his presence he walked her in our neighborhood to get a better sense for her personality. Because Pixie’s so shy with strangers, Justin offered to take her on a free second walk every day for the first couple weeks to speed up the bonding process.
It’s been a week since Justin added Pixie to the pack and she’s loving it. She warmed up to him quickly and gets to play like a «real» dog, running around in the woods every day despite the fact that she lives in a busy city. Thanks Justin!

Justin and Erin have been walking Pepper for a year and a half now and I am still very happy about their service and I wouldn’t change it for anything! Pepper loves them and she always comes back tired and happy. They are very flexible and reliable and they don’t take a lot of vacation! I have used their boarding service as well and it was very relaxing for me to leave pepper with them knowing that she will be in very good hands.
I feel very lucky to have found them!

Adventures In Dog Walking… EXCELLENT. I’ve recommended several good friends. Justin, Erin and the team have been taking care of our dog Hank since Justin starting the business over 7 years ago. Hank just loves Adventures in Dog Walking and can’t wait for his daily outing. We have never had one single problem, complaint or a no show all this time. We totally trust the Adventure In Dog Walking Crew and know that Hank is in good hands. Justin is an excellent trainer and runs the business with great client focus. He has low turnover and when a new person is added to the team he personally trains them.

This is the BEST dog walking service ever! They are not just dog walkers but they are caretakers. My JOJO has been with this Justin, Erin and staff for the past 3.5 years. Justin worked as a vet tech and he has an ENORMOUS amount of free tips for when my dog becomes sick. He has saved me hundreds of dollars in vet bills. GO JUSTIN! They are professional and my JOJO LOVES staying overnight for slumber parties. Their training and commands are next to magic. When I see them in action with my dog, I’m flabbergasted. I’m like «What the heck?» Why doesn’t my dog do that with me?
Anyway, if you want unconditional love, great medical advice and professionalism. This is the dog walking and care taking service you want!
