AITC Immunization & Travel Clinic

Kaiser apparently doesn’t do quantitative hepatitis B titers (another item on my long list of problems with Kaiser…), so I came here. Glad I stumbled upon this place! The nurses and staff are friendly, competent and efficient, and it’s conveniently located near BART/​Muni. Titer was more than I was expecting ($ 50 for titer and $ 30 for the blood draw) but the results came back in a day!

I have been to AITC a few times now and I am very happy with the service I have received there. Nicole Copeland and Robin Allen-​Contreras have helped me with vaccinations for my trip, and they have both been very sweet. They go the extra mile. The staff at the front desk are always nice and polite. I appreciate the people that work at AITC because I feel very secure in going on this trip.

They were extremely knowledgeable and very informative. The nurse said if I had more questions to feel free to give her a call… umm…ok.
So a week later… I had more questions and gave her a call expecting the visit to not be the same as in person… since this was a «free» conversation. Ring… ring…and GUESS WHAT… she was SUPER FRIENDLY and took just as patient on the phone. i will defiantly be going back before any major trips to get advice and prescriptions.

Fantastic! I recently went to get my immunizations for Southeast Asia. Robin was the expert who helped me get everything in order for my trip. She was beyond helpful and I couldn’t recommend her more. Great info! Great staff! Very friendly. I’m really glad I found this place.

MMR 1&2 and Hepatitis Vaccines.
My health is making good progress. And the «cooties» are mostly all gone. At 39 I feel better prepared for life and hope to be in the Bay Area soon to live work study travel and hike with my service animal.
Stayed mostly alone during the process and took frequent baths and avoided the health clubs.
It is in healing mode now.

Um, this place rocks. One-​stop shop for all your travel health needs. Got my yellow fever and typhoid vax for Brazil, along with a bottle of cipro in case I have traveler’s diarrhea (they fill the script on the premises!!), plus the best insect repellent out there. No need for a drug store trip.
Also whoever runs the clinic is an operations badass, because the whole thing runs so smoothly and precisely. I was in and out — including forms, health history with a nurse, vaccines, products, prescription filled, and payment complete — in under 30 minutes. How’s that for government services?
Also they’re really nice. And getting an appointment was easy.

I have been to this clinic multiple times for routine immunization and tests. They prioritize people who are traveling and allow them to make appointments. Otherwise all services are on a walk-​in basis and you could wait a couple of hours, as I have had to do. Prices are also much higher than at other public health clinics around the Bay Area.

I am above 26 and decided to get a HPV vaccine since I never had any beforehand. I asked my doctor’s office and they were hesitant since it would be off-​label use. I called planned parenthood and they rejected outright even though i insisted I would pay out of pocket. I stumbled upon this place by accident and the experience was very pleasant. I think the nurse’s name is Muriel. She was very nice. It’s $ 195 per shot but even if there is a 0.01% chance that I won’t catch anything HPV related, it’s absolutely worth it. I will go back again for my next shot.

One Medical Group referred me here for travel shots (Yellow Fever). All the people I interacted with were incredibly sharp. Lisa, who used to work in embassy infirmaries around the world, was extraordinarily knowledgeable about the subtleties of each vaccine and how to best protect yourself against diseases for which there are no vaccines. They also vaccinate for non-​travel-​related illnesses so this is a great place for one stop shopping.

If you don’t know this already, KEEP YOUR IMMUNIZATION CARDS. Apparently my mother didn’t know this since she said she threw it away years ago. I spent a good chunk of change getting titers and new immunizations. I was literally sitting there with tears in my eyes watching my rent money go down the drain. Don’t let this happen to you.
Almost everyone here is personable. While they stick needles in your arms and give you dead organisms or draw your blood, they really try to get to know you. Like it says on the website, it’s walk in only. I waited maybe 10 – 15 minutes each time I went it. They got my blood test back within 3 days and called me to pick it up. They did everything they promised and then some. Thank gosh this place exists.

I didn’t consider the fact that I might need a Hepatitis A and typhoid vaccine before traveling to Costa Rica but you probably should according to the CDC. My name is not Mary and my doctor, like most, does not give typhoid shots so it was off to the clinic for me. I made an appointment about a week in advance and they provided the paperwork for filling out ahead of time.
You must be interviewed before receiving the vaccinations. It’s $ 50 and each vaccine is about $ 100 but they accept it insurance. The nurse was very knowledgeable and went through various risks and benefits. They also sell helpful travel products like mosquito repellent and she provided me with a Cipro prescription just in case. I was in and out in less than 30 minutes. My arm is sore but my digestive system is more likely to enjoy the trip.

I am 89% sure a ninja just gave me my shots. So was so quick at administering my vaccines for Africa that walked out the door in a confused stumble. The only likely conclusion is I am now immune to every disease known to man. I am invincible. Whose the ninja now!!!

This experience was fast and easy. I had to get the TB QuantiFERON blood test for medical school admission (which unfortunately for me does not accept TB skin tests) and I am deathly afraid of getting my blood drawn – like I would rather sky dive from the moon to earth than get blood drawn. My nurse, I wish I could remember her name, was sooooooooo friendly and nice, making the whole experience as pleasant as possible. Since I thought I might faint for this blood draw, they had me lay down on a table which helped cuz I just got to lay back and relax while listing to music. I barely felt the prick of the needle and the whole thing took 30 seconds. After that experience – my first blood draw – I am no longer scared because it was nothing!
I arrived at 11:40am on a Tuesday and only waited 10 minutes before being called. I had printed out all my forms online and had them filled out already which made the wait shorter. The test cost $ 136 and they take credit cards. Everyone here, from the front desk staff to the nurses were so nice and accommodating of my fear of blood draws – which now I feel I conquered because it was pretty much painless and super fast! I called and waited on hold for 45 minutes and nobody ever picked up, never gave me an estimate of how much longer I’d have to wait in their hellish loop where a guys voice tells you that they’re still busy every 10 seconds. Maybe I’ll update my review if they ever get back to me but I was forced to quit and leave a voicemail after wasting 45 minutes of my life and 50% of my phone battery.

This was pretty painless. The building is nice, there’s usually no problem with street parking (on Grove), and the wait wasn’t too bad. They have most everything you need for your international trip, and even flu shots etc.

I just got back from here and I can say that my visit here went way beyond my expectations. I saw Robbie, and she was amazing! Not only did she administer my shots painlessly, but she was a wealth of information on all things diseasy and new all about what and how to avoid in Southeast Asia.
I left there with a smile on my face and sense of well being in regards to my upcoming travels.
This is the place to go for vaccinations and immunizations.

Even after all the reviews… I wasn’t expected to be as blown away by their wealth of knowledge and service as I was. I booked an appt really last minute after my doctor couldn’t provide me with a yellow fever shot. I participated in their insurance coverage test and found out nothing was covered under my plan, booo. But, hey, they did all the work for me… so I really can’t complain.
The nurse that saw me was VERY knowledgeable about all the cities that I was visiting in Peru and Bolivia… down to the altitude of each city. They asked to see what my doctor had already prescribed me, from name to dosage, etc. and gave me additional recommendations, as well as recommendations for insect repellant, etc. When I went on my trip, all my friends benefitted from my trip to the travel clinic, because they’re that awesome.
Also, when my last minute prescriptions didn’t seem to be coming through, they were extremely prompt and called Costco on my behalf to reconfirm everything. I know it might be a little bit more, $ 50 at least is their flat fee, but really, you will rest easy knowing that all your bases are covered here.

I came in on a Wednesday around 1pm for a Quantiferon Gold blood test. No appointment was necessary. Although there were a couple of people ahead of me, I was in and out in 25 minutes! The nurse was nice and she knew exactly what she was doing. Trust me, I’ve had my share of bad nurses who had to try a couple times to find a «good vein».
Just a heads up! There was a phlebotomy fee of $ 29 that was added to my total. The Quantiferon Gold blood test itself is $ 105. The total cost was $ 134. Good thing I brought enough money because I had no idea the there was going to be an extra fee!
If you want to avoid a longer wait time, print out the required forms on their site ahead of time!

I don’t write all that many reviews, only if something was exceptional and AITC certainly was for me. All the other 5-​star reviews are accurate. They’re quick, efficient, knowledgeable and above all their customer service is top-​notch.
Someone noted below that the DMV could learn from AITC and I would even go as far as saying that pretty much any government branch as well as banks and other customer-​facing institutions should come and have a look here to see how things are being done. It’s really that good.
I had an appointment at 9am and was requested to come in at 8.45am and bring forms that our downloadable from their website. Even though the actual clinic opens at 9am, they checked me in and went through all the paperwork before than and I was out o there by 9.30am. Plenty of parking in front of civic center too if you have the early appointment slot.
If you need vaccinations, look no further my friends, AITC is the way to go.

Went to get my tb test and was greeted by friendly staff and a wait of 25 minutes as a walk-​in.
My nurse really cared about what she was doing and I appreciated her enthusiasm! (I was just getting a tb test).
They seem to prefer walk-​ins which is understandable for the services they offer. Total time for the appointment was 45 minutes.
