Attorney Walter A. Haynes, IV focuses on catastrophic injury and death cases. Walter’s experience as a California Highway Patrolman, an accident reconstructionist, and a licensed private investigator contribute to our client’s success. While serving as a member of the California Highway Patrol, Walt trained as an accident reconstructionist. Walt has investigated over 3,000 motor vehicle accidents for both the Highway Patrol and allied agencies. Walt has served as both an expert accident reconstructionist and a licensed private investigator, consulting on investigations and issues of case theory for lawyers specializing in personal injury and product liability litigation. Walt regularly litigates a broad variety of cases including wrongful death, multi-​vehicle car crashes, vehicle crashworthiness, pedestrian injuries, motorcycle and bicycle accidents, dangerous roads and intersections, product liability cases in addition to standing up for the rights of neglected elders.

Walt Haynes is a partner in this firm, and THE person to go to if you or a loved one is in an auto accident. Walt is the only lawyer in California who is a former highway patrolman, and a certified accident re-​constructionist. He really gets to the bottom of cases and figures out what really happened — going out to the scene himself, using investigators if he needs to — and then goes after the other guy (and the other guy’s insurer) relentlessly. You hope that you never need to hire a personal injury lawyer, but when you need one, Walt is tops.

I did a web search (DuckDuckGo) for positive responses and help in SF for someone to assist in Estate Planning/​Living Will provisions via «Thumbnail» (which is a great resource, btw). I got an immediate response from Attorney Michael Bland, and after reading a few reviews on line, I elected to set up an appointment after reading information he sent me online. All my online contacts and phone conversations prior to my initial first personal contact face to face, was extremely polite, caring and professional. I didn’t feel any time constraints as I had with previous dealings with other attorneys. The whole process was truly a breath of fresh air. I will be picking up my completed Living will packet (after 2 meetings already) and I have had a great experience thus far, and trust this firm with handling my affairs implicitly. I can’t say enough kind things about M. Bland and his staff. They are very welcoming and professional.

I was involved in a personal injury case that had dragged on for years. Al Stoll picked up my case about halfway through after being referred to the case by my previous attorney and was able to get the case wrapped up in a manner that i was really pretty happy with. My impression of Al from working with him on this issue is that he’s very professional, approachable, available and capable, throughout the case Al and the staff at his office have been really thorough and helpful and I’d honestly recommend him to anyone in the same situation I was in.

One day I attended a deposition conducted by Al Stoll at the office of the opposing attorney. Case involved determining damages arising out of a doctor admittedly giving eight people Hepatitis C. I was terribly ill from both the hepatitis C and the side effects of interferon and other potent drugs at the time. These drugs were my only hope of curing my infected liver from the scourge of the MD, doctor given virus. If I caught just a common cold, I would have to discontinue my accumulated months of drug therapy, thereby eliminating any possible cure; I could not start over. Opposing counsel knew this fact, despite his having a horrible cold with coughing and extremely hoarse voice. Still, he tried to force us to have the deposition in an extremely small room since his conference room was not available. Al Stoll tried to obtain another room in the building or nearby without success. Unhesitatingly, Al Stoll cancelled the deposition out of care for his client. Al cares about people more than his pocketbook. I hope you still consider this rating objective and derived from a true, lasting experience of mine, despite the fact that Al Stoll is my son. [Oh yes, in the end, Al obtained 100% of the available insurance coverage.]

I was involved in a very serious car accident after being hit by an underinsured driver. Despite having health insurance, my medical bills neared $ 100,000. I realized I was in over my head and turned to Al Stoll. Al was instrumental in guiding me through the process of dealing with insurance companies, the hospital and the at-​fault driver. You really need an expert to make sense of the process, and Al made a painful process much less so. I can recommend him without hesitation to anyone involved in a personal injury situation. Five stars.

Unfortunately, I had nothing but trouble when hiring this firm to represent me in my severance agreement negotiations. The attorney admitted to having a personal relationship with opposing counsel; apparently, opposing council did not feel the same way, as they were aggressive with us right from the start. Immediately thereafter my attorney’s disposition changed, refusing to ask any clarifying questions that I had; they were paid to review my severance agreement, but they «didn’t notice» a big mistake that had been made on the health benefits (I found it myself); they made my severance agreement worse, not better — a key contingency item that I originally had negotiated off the table was put back on less than 24 hours before the deadline, and again, my attorney would not ask why; I asked what the percentage of tax would be taken out if I agreed to a lump sum, but my attorney would only say,“I am not a tax attorney”, even though alI was asking for was a number, not how or if I should use it. I could not get through; they confirmed that my check would come to me directly but they had it delivered to their office and did not inform me, causing a three day delay; they contacted opposing counsel after I had terminated our agreement; when I asked for my files to be sent to me they sent me files with someone else’s name on it (after making me ask three times to have the files sent to me). I attempted to reach out to Al Stoll himself three times, thinking he would not approve of this attorney’s conduct, but was ignored each time. I can only assume then that he condones this type of behavior. I simply could not believe how bizarre my experience was. These types of things should never happen.
