Walked a mile to get the breakfast burritos since Unilocal adversities a 6 am opening. The door was locked and the lady said it opens at 7. Disappointing. Please update the hours.

Friendly and quick service. Every time I have been here, I end up feeling fat and happy. The burritos are awesome. It is a great little spot that does not get the love it deserves.

Being unable to give ZERO stars. The owners(husband/wife?) are terrible. Mainly the RUDE wife. She cooks(combines) everything and all he seems to do is ring up orders(no matter how long the line) Today I ordered the ONLY nachos option on the board. Not«super» or «regular”– there was one listing: Nachos: cheese; beans, salsa, sour cream, Guac I ordered that. I was asked«super?» And I said«no» because I didn’t want meat(and that was the only addition to the otherwise basic nachos I could imagine). When I said no. She seemed exasperated and slopped on gross nacho cheese(like at a little league game) NOTFRESH cheese. And then one scoop of salsa. No beans. Nothing. I was happy to except the nachos as they were but I was curious as to what they were going to cost because I could not believe they would be charging $ 6.90 for what she just prepared for me. when I got to the register I asked the husband(?) What the cost of the nachos were because they were not up on the board(at least not this abbreviated version) The wife then seemed very irritated that I was asking her husband how much the nachos are going to cost me and I pointed out that they were not in fact listed on the menu board. she then informed him not to serve me and then looked at me and said we don’t need your business –I have a line of people. There was not a lot of people-! Anyone in line seemed equally petrified that a woman would get so enraged for me simply asking how much something cost. Avoid this place! There are many other options nearby

Wow– all I can say is two words: Breakfast burritos. The potatoes in these beloved breakfast burritos are out of control delicious. A little bit of spice and a little bit of crispy, flash fried to golden delicious. When they run out, I will wait however long it takes for the next batch to cook up as they are that good. I found Alex’a by making slow concentric circles out of my office in FiDi looking for the best breakfast. Since I found Alex’s the search is over. When I carry the burrito up to the office, everyone in the elevator asks me where? My colleagues all go to Alex’s now and I bring friends in from out of town. If you are looking for a breakfast burrito I’m FiDi, put down your phone and run to Alex’s and get these golden potato filled burritos STAT.

Really, really nice guy behind the counter! Plus my burrito was delicious and cheap. What more can you ask for?

I have has several burritos from this place and they have always been decent. Certainly far from the best and they do use the microwave for things like the wet burrito, but I have never had them use it on my food. There is no real salsa option(as far as a salsa bar for instance) and it’s not the spiciest place I have ever been to, but it was good. Under ten bucks for a large burrito with al pastor(not really though, it was chicken, but was pretty good), cheese, sour cream and guac. Like I said, far from the best but worth the $ 9 I paid.

Fish tacos were delicious, but kinda disrupted the flow of the checkout line(they take awhile). While I waited the place hit the lunch rush and 100% of people were getting burritos and those were made fast and fat. They looked terrific.

Did you hear that«ding?» Yes, that was them microwaving my carne asada, not for a burrito, but for the two tacos I ordered. Though you couldn’t tell from my photo that I ordered two tacos. Looks more like a salad. There’s nothing worse than overcooked microwaved meat. Oh yeah, they microwaved the meat for my tacos and piled a ton of lettuce to cover up the evidence! And at around $ 9 this place has me scratching my head wondering why I set foot in here instead of going to Chipotle down the street.

Some of the better Mexican food in the FiDi. Not superb, but pretty good. And Mrs. Alex is very nice. I am also told that they have breakfast, and though I haven’t partaken of it, a co-worker of mine has and loves it.

I’m sitting here as I write this review, making this my last visit, sadly. Hands down the chicken verde here is pretty delicious, but that’s about it. The owners use a microwave, which is quite concerning, hence why I have only gotten salads here. The chips taste like they’re tostitos, and the corn is straight out of a can. Not to mention the rice is just plain bland. And yes, the woman has a bad attitude, especially towards other women I’ve witnessed. Reason I decided to stop coming here is because I feel like they pocket some hidden costs. How does a salad shoot up from 6.44 to 11.50 after adding a water? Doesn’t make much sense. I’d rather wait in line at mixt greens and pay the same price. Don’t waste your time.

The 4 stars is context-specific. 4 Stars for a FiDi burrito place. I just went here for the first time and the price isn’t too bad, the options are pretty varied, and it tastes better than many other options in the area(not necessarily the single BEST burrito in the area, but quick, close, and tasty). Also, the folks behind the counter were both very nice. I’m sure I’ll be back in the future.

MAKESUREYOUGETCHARGEDCORRECTLY I barely write reviews anymore, but this one got me back into it. I looked up and a regular burrito is $ 6.90. I get to the counter and your wife says its a Regular burrito. I give you a $ 20. You give me $ 11.35 in change. I even skipped on the paper bag just to be nice Got back to my office, eating my burrito when it dawned on me, your charged me for a Super Burrito. That’s not nice alex… Keep the $ 1 you scammed from me. I will never give you business again.

Great tasting Buritto at a good price! I come here several times a week and the food is consistently yummy! The owner’s are warm and friendly and make the food fresh each morning. So nice to have a mom and pop place in the financial district that makes REAL good food!

This is my go-to place for the mornings that I need a Venti Soy Latte(Startbucks is right next door) and a big breakfast burrito. You can get it with sausage, chorizo, or bacon and it just hits the spot every time. It’s a small shop. You can eat in or take out. Service is always very friendly and quick. I have yet to try the other items on the menu, but trust I’ll be back for more!

I came to give a guest lecture at AcademyX and happened to visit this joint. The lebanese music playing here brought me in along with the music in the park. Alex Gourmet Burrito has a really good location with the park and music playing to its advantage. However the food wasn’t flavourful at all. The level of spice wasn’t appropriate. The ingredients loose the flavour when all put together. The tofu was the saving grace in the vegetarian burrito. Not worth coming again.

This place liberally uses Ye Old Microwave, and let me tell you, Gordon Ramsay and Robert Irvine are right when they say you can taste it. I ordered the wet burrito, and the poor thing was pretty much nuked in the microwave. It’s a very strange experience to see a burrito being freshly made-to-order right in front of your eyes and then watch it get tossed in a microwave in plain sight. Any of you who have tried to eat burrito leftovers know the simple microwave truths: if you microwave a burrito, the tortilla will get soggy and sad, the cheese(on the outside of the burrito, all one tablespoon of it) will turn on you and fossilize, and the meat, chicken, and beans will dry out like the Sahara. If you attempt to put sour cream on your steaming hot burrito, it will melt and mournfully slide away, just like your dreams of having a tasty Mexican meal. On top of that, the red wet sauce was almost tasteless and the avocado was completely liquified, which was a little worrying. The burrito was also microwaved in a bio degradable take out box, which became limp and painfully hot to hold. Not a great take-out system if I have to walk three blocks back to my work with a steaming cardboard inferno in my hands. The couple running the place were very friendly and I desperately wanted to like this place, but unfortunately eating my burrito from here was a joyless experience. Get rid of the microwave and I may reconsider it!

My first time and I thought a good breakfast burrito would hit the spot for a good morning meal so I ordered their ‘Breakfast Burrito’ which mine was scrambled eggs, chorizo, salsa, and cheese. The woman behind the counter(who seemed already irritated this morning) grabbed a tortilla then opened up the eggs which looked really dry, and so did the chorizo. She put the eggs, chorizo, salsa, and then cheese on the tortilla. I was really disappointed that she sprinkled so little cheese so I asked her if I could have more. She then sprinkled a tiny bit more cheese and placed the whole thing in the microwave. The microwave? Really? No steaming the tortilla first like other burrito places do? Or even putting on the flat top to heat up? Okay, I’ll still go with this I guess. After all, I placed my order not knowing. When it came out of the microwave the cheese still looked skimpy and I asked if she would please still put more cheese on it(which irritated her even more) and then she threw it back in the microwave. She tells me that she is going to leave it in there longer. She walks over to the register and charges me .92 for the extra cheese. I didn’t mind paying that, but really, ITWASNOTTHATMUCHMORE of a sprinkling of extra cheese. Cost of the medium sized breakfast burrito? $ 5.06 + .92 = $ 5.98(and with an UGLYATTITUDE at 9AM in the morning). As she hands me my wrapped burrito she says«Have a nice day». Really? Why even try lady. When I finally unwrapped my breakfast burrito the tortilla was hard(nuked for too long) and the eggs were dry still. Not coming back so no thanks to you lady and your business. No wonder the place is empty.

Disappointed to say the least — I’ve come here for Breakfast burritos, and was hankering for one this morning. I decided however to push my hunger out and get a burrito for lunch. The verde chicken sounded good, however when looking at it, the verde sauce was completely dried up, but I figured maybe what I was looking at wasn’t the verde chicken. Well sadly it was and I now know the reason why it was dried up — it’s because the person making the burrito uses the chicken SPARINGLY. That is to say, I ordered a super burrito and when I got back to my office to eat it, what I really got was a large portion of bland rice & beans, a few, I mean FEW pieces of thinly cut chicken and a teeny tiny amount of guacamole, cheese and sour cream. ??? I was surprised how blatantly parsimonious the burrito maker was. Needless to say, there was nothing GOURMET about my burrito and I was not at all surprised that the burrito was DRY and tasteless and every bite I took seemed to be mostly RICE&BEANS. Would I recommend this place to others, not at all!

I was not expecting to find such delicious authentic Mexican food in the Financial District, of all places! The outside of this burrito shop is pretty nondescript, I was in kind of a hurry to grab lunch, and my expectations weren’t too high… However, this place turned out to be pretty awesome! They have a wide variety of fresh-cooked ingredients to choose from, including four different kinds of chicken alone. The verde chicken was a delightful addition to my burrito– just spicy enough, and very flavorful! The woman(owner?) at the counter was very friendly and provided great customer service, warmly explaining the different topping choices, and also letting me know that they don’t use lard in any of their beans. Yay! Anyway, my burrito ended up being delicious and very filling, and I came back again a week later with the same great results. I will definitely be back again if I’m craving a good burrito. The only bad thing is they close pretty early, at 3pm, so don’t plan on stopping by for dinner.
