Awesome surfboard repair in SF! Had an FSC box crushed when I surfed too long on low tide: o and called these guys up, dropped off the board and less than 2 weeks later my board looked brand new again: D

As if this wonderful couple needed another 5 star review. I dropped off two boards, and the repair that Alex did was literally the best job I have ever seen. He even went the extra mile and fixed other parts of the board I had not realized needed repair.
The turnaround time is well worth the wait. I wouldn’t take my boards anywhere else.

Alex’s repairs and service really are the best in SF. High quality craftmanship, honest pricing, reliable, great service. Alex takes the time to explain stuff in his mellow, kind, logical way. A while ago he (or his wife?) did a really amazing job colormatching, but they may not offer that service anymore…
I’ve had mediocre quality repairs done by others guys in SF that were cheeper and had a quicker turn around time than Alex. If you just want a quick, cheep fix for a junker board, Alex may not be your guy, but but If you have a board that you really like, treat it right and bring it Alex.

Alex was extremely helpful in my board repair. My swallow tail was dropped badly in a move. Not only did Alex repair the tail he strengthened it as well. It rode great and he charged me a minimal repair fee. Thank you!

Alex and Sarah are the best. Very easy to work with and to schedule a drop off with. Sarah is super accommodating and even tolerated my lateness in dropping my board off (sorry Sarah!) Alex works very quickly and is extremely professional. His repairs are impeccable. It was also thrilling to watch him surf in the finals at Mavericks this year. San Francisco surfers are lucky to have them here.

I’m a big Fan! I’ve brought 2 surfboards and 2 kiteboards to Martin with some knarly damage. One board rolled around in the rocks at Fort Point for several hours before I recovered it (kinda like a multiple gun shot wound victim with a severed nose and missing toes). On another board, the nose/​foam had turned into a sponge after I had continuined to surf it too long after it had cracked. All are solid now and sweet after his repair.
On another occasion I tried getting him to repair a favorite surfboard, a sweet Fineline egg I picked up from Mollusk several years ago, that had some delamination issues (user error), and like a trusted doctor he explained why he wouldn’t recommend going through the effort of fixing it. I really appreciated the explanation and sound advice.
He’s consistent, reliable and repairs are top notch (I feel qualified saying that only because I’ve built a handful of amateur boards and know what the difference is between sealing up a ding and going through the effort to properly re-​glass a nose, set a new fin box, etc.). Honestly my biggest gripe with board repairers isn’t so much quality as it is actually getting someone to do it in a timely manner. With most repair guys, (bless their hearts) you drop off in the summer and don’t get them back til the fall. Martin is consistent, relatively fast, and efficient.
Can’t speak to the price range except to the extent that I would never pay for a repair that cost more than a repaired board is worth. I’ve happily had him fix four boards for me.

Alex was a pleasure to work with, did a fantastic repair job, and worked on an expedited schedule for a reasonable price. What more could you ask for?

For years I have been going to Alex and Sarah for my board repair. I cannot say enough about the level of service I receive. I have never asked to have the dings paint matched and yet they come back looking sharp and perfectly clean, never over sanded and I am always pleased. Twice Alex has taken my boards that are totally snapped and put them back together. Both times the rocker has been great and the boards still work well. Thank you Alex and Sarah for the great service! If I am seeing you soon it’s because the waves have improved or I have returned from a trip with work for you. I am hoping for the later. Aloha!

After a trip to Nicaragua I had two boards in need of serious repairs — one on the rail and one on the bottom of the deck. I was very pleased with service, price, and quality of repair on both boards. Another 5 star review.

Did an awesome job. After an unfortunate fall while climbing up HMB jetty. My surfboard suffered a few dings. Alex came highly recommended. Starting from the beginning it was easy to schedule an appointment for drop off and one week later my board is in great shape again. Thank you Sarah and Alex.

Just had another repair done by alex, this time a ding to the nose. Again, Alex and Sarah turned the repair around in 1 week and did a perfect job! Will never go anywhere else, these guys are great!

Found Alex originally on Unilocal and he has definitely lived up to the hype. I’ve now had a couple of repairs done by Alex and both times the quality of the repair and the price were great and he delivered the board on time. After years of ding repairs that took weeks (or months) longer than originally estimated Alex’s timeliness is a breath of fresh air. He’s even got a «rush» rate if you’re in a hurry. Only real drawback is that he doesn’t work out of a shop so you just call him up to coordinate a time for drop off/​pick up. He’s flexible with the times though so I haven’t had a problem with it so far.
Both of the repairs Alex fixed for me were pretty challenging including a large tail repair on on a swallow tail fish and a broken out fin box from a rock I met in Mexico. Both repairs came back like new.
FYI — Don’t let his mellow vibe fool you, he’s also an amazing surfer. He was an alternate in the 2010 Mavericks surf contest and caught some amazing ones out there.

ditto what everyone else said. Alex is not only a super nice guy, his work is amazing and his prices are reasonable.
He’s very conscientious and makes the extra effort to work with you to get your board back in the water as soon as possible. Plus he rips out there!

Alex did a great job on my board last year. After falling on top of the nose and breaking it off (OUCH!), he was able to fix it cleanly and within a reasonable amount of time.
If you got some dings on your board, definitely check out Alex.

I highly recommend Alex for surfboard repair. I’ve had him fix three different boards over the last couple years and all of his jobs have been flawless.
He repaired a bad rail ding on an epoxy board, and two dings on the tail and nose of a polyurethane boards. All were perfect fixes. I’ve seen him fix boards split in half and box fins that were ripped out.
His prices are fair and you can usually expect your board by two weeks time.
