Worst service ever and they don’t solve the problem. I’m surprised at the 4.5 star review this place gets and I’m definitely going to find another place for my car. The customer service sucks here. They didn’t call us to let us know that the car was ready for pick up and didn’t call us for any updates. When we called in to check on the status of the car they apparently changed a sensor without our consent and charged us for it. On top of that they accidentally overcharge us $ 1000 more than they were supposed to. Even more aggravating is that they told us if the problem persists then they will then investigate further… Which means that they’re charging us something that may not have fixed the problem.

Eric has been working on my car for a few years now and he’s earned every one of the five stars I’m happily giving him. He does his best to accommodate my challenging schedule and takes care of the problem quickly. Every diagnosis he made so far has been the correct one. His prices seem fair to me and he’s even done some small adjustments for free a few times. I highly recommend Eric and his team at All Speed!

I have a ford 2010 and needed to get the car checked out. I went to an unrelated auto shop they told me I had 300 $ in damages. then I came here and all I needed was an oil change! They were super helpful and explained things thoroughly and answered all my questions. A+++

If you have a Volkswagen, don’t go here. I suspect the good reviews are for Asian imports, and the one stars are for European cars.
My car was smoking from the hood, and I brought it in. They said they couldn’t figure out what it was, that it was probably just that the car is old (it’s about 15 years old, I’ve ridden in 50 year old VWs that don’t smoke…) The best part, they told me that if I want to know more, I’d have to pay thousands for them to take apart my engine and then /​maybe/​they could give me an answer. What? They’ve never heard of dye tracing?
I also had a blinking engine light. They told me it was «fine». I took my poor car to a different mechanic today who said in no uncertain terms that my car is dangerous to drive in its current condition. That it could explode.
Okay, so the mechanics here are easygoing, and their rates are reasonable, I guess. I think they’re great for basics, or when you can tell them exactly what’s wrong with your car and what you want done about it. But if you have a mystery case, or you’re concerned about surviving, I’d suggest going elsewhere, especially if you have a European car.

Took my car here couple days ago to ask them to checkout what’s wrong with my car. They sent me right out the door and told me that everything is okay. Today after dropping my friend off home and it broke down. The car’s engine won’t even start. I called couple of my car friends to come here to check it out. Right away they figure out what’s wrong without any equipment. My friends were able to get my car engine to start with only a screw driver and a baseball bat. They hit my starter softly and it my car’s engine turn back on. This is so ridiculous that how can couple of well experience mechanics with all the equipment they have and can’t tell what’s wrong with my car. I will never come here ever again even tho I only live 10 blocks away from here

I am so glad to have found this hidden gem. Simon was awesome in checking me in, assessing my car’s issues and taking my car right away on a very hectic morning. Eric was awesome in fixing my car and having it ready when I needed it. Very affordable. No nonsense. So glad to have found a car repair shop that does not see a woman coming and gouge them.

Great job! We brought the car in on a Saturday, which is a very short day here, so I was concerned the car might not get finished in time. To make matters worse, they showed up around 9am instead of 8:30. Ordinarily I’d take a star off, but since they were able to assess and fix one problem, and replace brakes that another shop was unable to get open (rusted drums), and they finished both jobs in time, and arranged a no hastle way for us to get the car after closing, I’m sticking with the 5 star rating… but be on time next time, please.

Excellent service. Eric went above and beyond in assessing the issues with my car and thoroughly explaining the priorities and what could wait. Very fair pricing and fast work. My car has been running smoothly and worry free since they fixed the problems. Great to find a reliable auto repair in my neighborhood. Thanks so much Eric and All Speed Motors!

Found out about this place because I had work done by the folks that share the building. I needed to get some ignition coils changed out on my Acura and the servicewas top notch, the arrangement was hassle-​free, and the workmanship was excellent. My car is back purring like a kitten with no shakes or maintenance lights. Definitely recommend this shop for mechanical work. I’ll be returning next time I need something taken care of the right way the first time.

This unassuming garage off of clement street must have something in the air because the staff is super friendly and attentive.
We went in after smelling burning plastic while driving the car, and the team quickly isolated the issue to a broken gasket that was resulting in an oil leak. What could have been a 4 – 6 hour ordeal was a 30 minute repair with a a smile. Can’t tell you how hard it is to find a mechanic and how happy we were to find this place.

So my check engine light came on this week and as I have to drive to Tahoe this weekend, I felt I should get it checked out. Called the Honda dealer near me, who indicated that «the diagnostic process» would take 2 – 3 hours and would cost $ 159. F that.
Upon recommendation from a friend, ended up at All Speed. Nowhere near my house, but absolutely worth the drive. Ronnie helped me out — took him all of 5 minutes to check my car out (related to a smog sensor going out; not a big deal at all, fine to drive). He also checked my brake fluid and topped it off when I told him my brake light came on intermittently, too (and explained why it happens — related to the hills in SF tilting your fluids).
The charge for this work? $ 0. I *am* going to get that sensor fixed though, and All Speed will be doing it for me — I’m sure with the great level of service already experience.
Thanks All Speed for not screwing me over! So appreciated by a female who feels screwed over by mechanics 99% of the time!

I love the guys at All Speed Motors. I’ve been taking my cars there for the last couple years; they are always helpful, honest and speedy. On a couple different occasions, Eric has checked out my car, gave me a run down of things that could be done with price estimates, and charged me nothing! He’s even showed me things under the hood that I can do myself at no cost. I highly recommend this business.

My aunt has been bringing her cars to Eric for years, so naturally I have thought of Eric as a go to when it came to my car. When I first got my 1996 Acura Integra from my sister I had some reservations because I thought that the person who sold it to her was a street racer. The car was missing the back seat and was lowered to the ground so low it was kind of annoying just getting in and out of the car. Knowing that at the time I was not in a position to spend hundreds of dollars or even thousands I asked Eric to take a look. Not only did he check the car out for free he even got it back to me earlier then we both expected. I no longer have that Acura but I know as soon as i have the ability to get another car I know where and who to speak with. See you soon Eric. Also I don’t even live in the city so that must speak volumes as to how much my family and I trust Eric and his crew.

Love these guys. Friendly, reasonably priced and fast. They did a great job on my brothers crappy Hyundai Santa Fe and my GFs BMW. Will definitely keep going back to these guys whenever necessary.

My go to auto mechanic shop. They are fast and friendly and most importantly not Shady!!! They tell you off the bat what is needed and what isn’t.

I went there twice.
First time: my old saab had the battery discharging too quickly. He checked the alternator, the battery, and concluded that everything was fine and I had to drive it for a longer time. The car was just too old.
After some investigation on the web and on the car, I found that the compartment glove was not closing well, and so the light would stay on. And that the central closing was draining a bit more that what it should. I just removed the fuse for it, and that was done.
Second time: check engine light of my mitsubishi went on. He checked the computer code, it was the sparkling plugs. He started to explain me that it was complicated to find the right spark plugs, so he would re-​initialize the computer, and maybe the light will not come back.
The light came back, but I went somewhere else.

So it’s been a year since I’ve returned to this mechanic, and I’m still experiencing troubles as a result of their poor work. Somebody needs to rectify their overwhelmingly strong reviews, IF YOU ARE SEARCHING FOR A GOOD MECHANIC IN SAN FRANCISCO KEEP SEARCHING. (If you own a BMW, go hit up Euro Motorcars, best mechanics I’ve ever met)

I own a ’99 BMW 323i. I do most of my own work on the car, but occasionally need a shop to help with the more challenging repairs. It is possible that these guys just don’t do well with German cars, many auto shops specialize and it’s understandable. That said, when you don’t know what you’re doing with a car, send it the customer to another shop.
Simon is the lead mechanic at All Speed, an old Asian man who speaks broken English. That said, I’m a San Francisco native and no stranger to having to decipher a few accents — my experience combined with glowing Unilocal reviews led me to give the man the benefit of the doubt over a few encounters.
My first trip to All Speed involved a pothole that led to a broken control arm. Simon replaced one control arm and sent me on my way. I now have a second broken control arm, as I’ve learned recently that proper procedure on my generation of BMWs is to replace both control arms in sync, otherwise you risk the uneven distribution causing additional damage. Thanks for doing your homework Simon.
My second trip to All Speed required me to replace my clutch that had finally blown. Simon seemed particularly confused on the inner workings of a clutch as I explained the problem to him, and again as he explained the estimate to me. Almost as though my car were a guinea pig for him to learn to work on clutches.
No less than a month later, my clutch died again. That is obscene. 1 clutch lasts 11 years and the next that he confusedly installed dies a month later? Bullshit. I went right back and demanded they fix it. They charged me for parts this time, but not labor (a slight consolation), and once again replaced the clutch.
Something around two and a half thousand dollars later, I am still recovering from their repairs, as I’ll be taking my car in Friday to my new mechanic deal with the second control arm issue.
It’s a shame they perform so poorly, as Phil, owner of the body shop that shares the same lot is great and runs a very professional business. Avoid All Speed Motors at any and all costs — this is not a trustworthy shop. If I wanted to experiment on my car, I’d do it myself.

I have been meaning to write this review for sooo long! But this place is absoulutly amazing! My car ended up Running out of battery about 10 or 15 blocks from my house (which was pretty close to All Speed Motors). It was on a Monday night so I decided to wait till the morning before I would do anything about it.
The next morning I find all speed motors, I call them and they are really great! Instead of me having to get my car towed and brought to there location they drive me to my car, switch my battery and I follow them back (at no extra cost to me)
Then on top of that they do all the work at a really reasonable rate!!! And have it done that day!
They did a fantastic job fixing my alternator (I believe that’s the spelling) on my Honda civic that if I ever have another car trouble I will defiently be going back to them for there help!!!

First of all, yeah– it’s dirty. But then again, this isn’t to be a hospital waiting room. For many, it can be offsetting, but I see it as the more grime, the more charm– and this place has plenty of it. Cars are dealt with quickly and effectively, as most of the wait is based on how long it takes for parts to arrive. They always make sure to explain the problem, as well as showing you the parts they replaced so that you have a better understanding of what exactly it is that is/​was going on, which is good for the customer, since many don’t have a clue about their cars. Simon and Eric are both very good to work with. I agree with the review before mine– Eric is great to talk to, if you have the time, but it also depends on how busy they are. They definitely have the customers’ best interest at heart.
Also, the location is swell– there’s a few restaurants and coffee shops nearby, good for those oil changes that take a while but not long enough to go home.
