Amazing Nails

I heavily rely on Unilocal reviews when it comes to hygiene. But I am so glad I went with my instinct and decided to get a mani pedi at Amazing Nails. Definitely one of the better mani pedis I had received when we lived in the city.
Appointment was a breeze to make on a Sunday afternoon. And they were very welcoming as well. I was asked to pick a color when I walked in and they carry a vast range of nail paints, from OPI to Zoya to Essie.
Because it was a Sunday afternoon, there weren’t very many patrons, which resulted in yours truly getting very good attention. I had requested a massage along with my manicure. And it was ridiculously good for the amount I paid for it (which was next to nothing). The technician massaged the rights spots on my arm and even went on to give me a great neck massage. She then proceeded to work my nails and prettified them. No leaking outside bounds or chipping for over 3 weeks (and it was just good old nail polish!!). The tech who did my toenails was also great. And the pedicure lasted a while as well.
They are pretty hygenic, using disposable foot scrubs and equipment. They do ask for feedback on whether everything is okay, which is a rarity. I paid about $ 60 including my mani-​pedi, massage and tips. That’s how much I would pay for my mani pedi ALONE in some salons in SOMA that barely touch your feet and barely massage them and barely soak them. O_​o
All in all, it was one hour of bliss.
PS: The only reason I am giving them 4 stars instead of 5 is because the tech who worked on my toe nails was pushing me to get a foot massage as well. I didn’t like that.

I love Amazing Nails from just stopping here once. This location is super convenient in Mission Bay. If you are coming off the caltrain or muni you can easily walk here. I just dropped in and they took me right away. I got my glitter gel nail mani done and after a two week asia trip been back for over a week and my gel nails are STILL ON! the back has grown out a bit naturally and I’ve picked at it a bit, but other than that it looks amazing still. Haven’t had this experience at any other nail salon yet except for at Sensi Nails in sunset. I will definitely be coming by for my nail appts.

Got a gel mani-​pedi here. My toes are fine but they seriously messed up my hands. I told them I don’t want my fingernails cut short. They instead filed them so much that now it looks like they were cut. They are not the same shape, some of them look weird, and the gel is visibly uneven. Only positive thing is that they fit me in as a walk-​in.

This would be my tenth visit. They have very reasonable prices for the city and a huge selection of polishes. I got the hello kitty line of OPI with shellac/​gel for my mani. I also paid an extra $ 10 for 10 minutes of foot massage.
I was super lucky to have a good manicurist. There isn’t any space — not even 1 mm on my nails. I love it! It’s best to com when not busy to get both the mani and pedi done at the same time :)

I only go for waxing because they have screwed up on my nails so much. Rude, old machines, and lack of quality in every way. Even their waxing is dirty, but luckily it’s just my eyebrows. If you want a decent manicure go across the street to Mizu Spa. This place needs their own makeover.

This place has gone downhill. Really disappointing since I live right around the corner. Today I just had a shellac manicure done. They lady was super aggressive with my cuticles and made a finger bleed, then rushed the manicure and looking at my nails now they look awful and incomplete, she also gave me a maybe 2 second «hand massage.» Meanwhile, my friend next to me got the same manicure and received a hand massage and shoulder massage. The lady doing my nails was very rude and was pissed when I didn’t give her a substantial tip. Um hello?! What do you expect when you are so rude, rushing and cut my finger? Take your money elsewhere.

I decided to have a pedi during my lunch break and found this spot down the street from work. Very convenient. However, the pedicure given to me by May was not so great. She didn’t cut my cuticles or took out my ingrown which I requested twice. All she did was clean underneath my nails, cut down and file. The pedi includes a nice Orange/​Tangerine scent foot scrub, which I did like and a nice foot massage which seems to be their primary focus. They offer massages and reflexology for an extra charge or added services. The massage chair is what made me rate this a 3 star. I actually fell asleep. $ 25 instead of the $ 18 I am use to paying in Alameda for a Pedi, well the $ 8 difference paid seemed more for the convenience of getting it done while at lunch. Bummer! On to the next.

Great ladies. Great service. Gray location. Great price. Will definitely revisit when in the area for a ballgame.

I took my mom for a quick mani-​pedi today and was worried because of the mixed reviews. We were pleasantly surprised. Nothing pretentious, everything was straightforward. You are paying $ 35 and get the value for your money. The massage that comes with the service was pretty good.
Plus: they use foot scrubs only once and I saw a few patrons ask for theirs to take home (for free).
A tip is for people to take notice and give feedback as they are working on your nails. This will ensure that the inconsistencies are addressed while you there.
I will be coming back for sure.

I go to amazing nails often for waxing’s and I have to say that they do an AMAZING job. My eyebrows always look perfectly shaped every time. My other waxing lady moved away and I needed to start going to them for everything and they were super professional, nice and made it very comfortable for me. They ROCK!

Super clean, reasonably priced, lots of colors to choose from, and very quiet and calm!
For me, it’s usually just a pedicure. So I can’t speak to other aspects or services, but the pedicure was solid for $ 25. A decent amount of massage, good cuticle trimming, and a good paint job.
A few things to note:
*Seriously, they have a HUGE collection of colors to choose from! And it’s so neat and tidy!
*Everything is very well organized and it’s apparent there was some effort put into the little touches. Magazines arranged in the middle coffee table. Little water bottles and candy put out.
*I’ve never seen this before, but they have this plastic tray/​liner for the pedicure chairs! Not really sure if I really think it makes it cleaner, but I appreciate the effort.
*This is the quietest nail salon I have ever been to! There were about 5 of us in there getting our nails done and 5 – 7 ladies politely working away. There’s no music or tv on either. It was a little weird to me, but also a very welcome and relaxing environment. Great for after work unwinding! I think I may have found my go-​to nail salon!

I’ve been here at least 7 – 10 times for a manicure, I keep coming back only because it’s close by, but I just can’t anymore, at least not for a manicure. Consistently they do not do a good job with nail polish compared to most SF salons I’ve been too. I leave with bubbles in my nails, strands of thread or something else, and streaks from the first coat showing on the sides where they didn’t do a good job on the second coat. I even had guy friends commenting on how bad my nails had looked right after the manicure.
I’ve also come with a friend before during which we both started regular manicures at the exact same time and they finished mine nearly 5 – 7 mins AFTER hers. She complained they didn’t spend enough time on her. We realized she didn’t get the same complimentary arm /​hand massage. Again, they are usually not consistent.
They do however do a good job with pedicures and full arm wax. They are neat and efficient and I’d come back for those. But I’ve tried too many times to go for a regular manicure again.
Also they have scolded me for asking for sun block for my fingers for a gel manicure. Again, most decent places in SF do this when you ask, or even if you don’t.

Susan is my girl. I have been getting my acrylics done by her for a couple of months now and i never leave less than satisfied. I do not do the fake tips, just acrylics over my real nails since they are weak and tends to break all the time. The acrylic is never too thick or too thin, and i come back for a fill or a brand new set every two weeks. Super convenient since it’s right across the street from my work. I have not tried their waxing services yet, but i think i might on my next visit !

Have been here a few times. It’s great service and quality for the price. It’s also right next to Caltrain so I love coming here if I get off work early and have sometime to kill before my train.
Eyebrow waxing: $ 12
I come here regularly to tame my brows. The lady that does it is very thorough and it hurts a lot less than threading IMO. She even remembered me my second time back because my brows were so overgrown the first time. When she tore the first wax strip off she was like «Look! So much hair» as I silently hated myself for neglecting them.
Everyday mani: $ 12
Very good! Didn’t chip for me for about a week and they have a great color selection
French mani: $ 17
This was a little more expensive than I thought. I saw a menu of services on here where it said $ 15 but it must have been outdated. Nevertheless they look great and I am pleased.

The lady cut two of my fingers. One of my fingers continued to bleed throughout the entire manicure. I politely complained and asked for some sort of a discount. The lady gave me a $ 2 discount.
I’m typing this review with blood still on my fingers. I’m probably going to have an infection but no worries, I got a $ 2 discount.

Just finished getting one of the worst looking full sets of my life. I showed the woman a picture of exactly what I wanted, a basic longish smooth set with squared tips… Received what look like play doh blocks on top of my finger tips. Before they were finished being filed and shaped I asked if she could smooth a little out here and there and she said that comes later… Well it never came and she began to rush through my appointment.
The files, buffers and cuticle scissors used on me were not new or cleaned, they came from a basket sitting on the desk to my left, and it didn’t occur to me until after I finished zoning out on the infomercials continuously playing on the tv above me.
The countless number of women who came in for mani pedis were headed like cattle into chairs I don’t recall being cleaned from the previous occupants.
To top it all off, the technician rudely ask me if I was sure for the color I chose, when I asked why, she smugly said it was because it was $ 5 more because it was newer than the others… I’m sorry, but it was on the same wall as all the other OPI Polish. That wasn’t the bad part, the worst was when I actually agreed to pay the extra $ 5 for that color, she asked if I was sure because it, again, was much more money. So I asked her if she thought I couldn’t afford it, then why would I agree to the extra $ 5. Then I asked her if she was serious and did she think i can’t afford her services. She then let out a nervous laugh and ended up having someone else finish my nails.
I’ve never been treated like this is San Francisco, I should have walked out… that’s my bad judgement.

I had Gina for my pedi and Nina for my mani. The pedi was much more thorough and the paint job was better. It was $ 35 which is a good price for SF. I would come back. Call ahead for an appointment. They have a lot of great Zoya colors.

Ouch! Came in for a pedicure. I was in a rush and did not come in here with a picky frame of mind. Very aggressive. Cut my toe. It’s clean, the ladies are nice. And they do a good job. Quintessential quicky nail salon. 3 stars is very accurate as far as the «nail salon» scale. I like the toe blower to dry your toes.
Updating review as I’m leaving: she asked me if I’d like to pay $ 1 for the little disposable flip flops. I said «no» then she offered me «free» ones.
