Andrew Komashko, DDS & Barry Burstein, DDS

Dr. Komashko helped me when I was in need of an emergency root canal. I am terrified of dental visits/​work, but he was friendly, knowledgable, and accommodating. He was not condescending or scolding, which I’ve found can be traits of many dentists. The front office receptionist was very understanding and compassionate as well. I’ve finally found a dental office that doesn’t terrify me.

I went for my 6 month check up and cleaning. My smile is amazing if I say so myself. Dr. Komashko is gentle, friendly and trustworthy. You will be very happy with him as your dentist.

Dr. Komashko is the best dentist. You won’t regret to come and see him! Very friendly, very professional, he knows what exactly your teeth needs. No necessary procedure. Very very reasonable price. Dr. Komashko is great! Super friendly, willing to listen and takes time to do things right. I came in with major jaw pain caused by a filling done incorrectly by another dentist and he took a look and fixed it in no time. His whole staff is super friendly, knowing me by name only the second time I dropped by the office. I highly recommend Dr. Komashko to anyone looking for a friendly, knowledgable and professional DDS!

Probably like most people, I’m not super fond is going to the dentist.
But Dr. Komashko is one of the kindest, gentlest souls. He is very encouraging. Listens to my concerns and does everything in his power to make me comfortable.
He also is not gung-​ho to do unnecessary procedures which I really appreciate. There are some things that we have been watching for years, without having to jump straight into treatment.
The office could use some updating, but don’t let that turn you off. It’s top quality care from people who truly care about their patients.

Hands down, Dr. Komashko is the BEST dentist I have seen in San Francisco, and I have seen many – let me tell you! I originally found him when I woke up with a major toothache one morning and was frantically looking for a dentist who could squeeze me in asap. Low and behold his wonderfully kind receptionist made an appointment for me later that day, and my experience was surprisingly smooth and comfortable. Dr. Komashko has an incredibly gentle and kind demeanor, which makes all the difference in the world when sitting in the dentist chair. I am so appreciative and grateful to have found him!

Okay so I’m re-​writing this as apparently the office is going to call me everyday until I fix it. I’ve never been harassed by a company because I wrote an angry Unilocal review. Here’s how it went I made an appointment and asked them to please verify that everything was covered by insurance (otherwise I can just go to my old dentist but I just wanted to try here since I can walk practically across the street) Apparently I was given a comprehensive new patient exam which was done two months prior to me being eligible for it. I am upset because I asked them to please verify with insurance previous to me coming in to be sure everything is good. I received bills every month and I understand this office is upset with my insurance company after 6 months the insurance decided not to cover the comprehensive exam. But the customer service is very upsetting to me. I have always had amazing dentists assts who make sure the services rendered are covered. I’ve never had to pay a dental bill since I’ve had BCBS I now owe them $ 86 because of some contracted office rate they charged instead of billing my insurance $ 26 for a regular exam it was $ 55 for comprehensive. So I’m pretty annoyed won’t be going back because this could have been handled way way better. I don’t like being told my Unilocal review is a lie and I need to remove it. After talking to the insurance company it seems this could have all been prevented if the Dentist had simply checked if I was eligible for a Comprehensive exam and they would have found out I needed to wait two months which I would have happily done.

Yeah, me either. Until I started going to Dr. Komashko. I felt comfortable from the moment I walked into the office because of its small size/​cozy feel – almost as if you’re walking into someone’s living room – and because of the warm receptionist, Ana (hopefully I spelled that right). In terms of the cleaning itself, Dr. Komashko was thorough without inflicting extreme pain that has caused me to hate going to the dentist in the past. He made sure to ask how I was feeling throughout the process, and made pleasant conversation before and after the cleaning that put me at ease.
In short, Dr. Komashko’s service is (in the words of Unilocal): Woohoo! As good as it gets!

I’ve been seeing Dr. Burstein since the stone age. He’s fantastic, kind, and professional.

I have been going to Barry Burnstein for years and have always found him and his staff a 5 star experience. I wasn’t sure what to think about this «new guy» — Andrew Komashko DDS. I went and needed a crown done, and he was going to my dentist for the procedure. I was a bit nervous but I have to say he was awesome. He was fast, efficient and very caring. He even called me later that day (after the office was closed, no less) to make sure I was doing OK. I highly recommend this crew. They are nice, professional and caring.

After visiting another dentist who told me I had four cavities I decided to get a second opinion and glad I stepped into this office 7 years ago. The care here is honest, friendly, and quality work. I originally saw Barry Burstein who has since handed over most of the practice to Andrew Kamashko. Both are wonderful practitioners, so much so that I now make a one hour drive down from Sebastopol to their office. Highly recommended!

I hadn’t been to the dentist in SEVERAL years and had even developed a phobia of going because I was embarrassed over the lack of attention that I was giving to my teeth. Then I had no choice but to go the dentist because of my need for an emergency root canal! The worst pain of my life and I had never been so happy to see a dentist who could take care of the problem. Dr Komashko is awesome. He did not make me feel at all uncomfortable or shy over the state of my teeth. He is kind and communicative with every appointment I’ve had. His staff are equally friendly and understanding. He has worked well with my insurance coverage so that I have owed very little out of my own pocket. Most importantly I have gotten results… and its been pain free every time I’ve gone for an appointment. I HIGHLY recommend his practice and people think I am crazy when I get excited about my dentist appointment. My whole family uses this practice, its kid friendly. We all have wonderful teeth and feel appreciated and respected by the entire staff.

I’ve seen many different dentists and Dr Komashko is definitely one of the best dentists in the Bay Area. He is very detailed oriented. He removed all the amalgam fillings in my teeth and replaced them with porcelain fillings. He cleaned my teeth many times and my teeth are as healthy as can be. He is very knowledgeable and makes very good decisions. He explains all the work he is doing and makes sure you’re at ease. He is definitely one of the top dentists available.

Andrew has been our dentist for many years and we are so happy he finally has his own practice! He is the best dentist we’ve had. He takes great care of our teeth and would never push us to do additional dental work for things we don’t really need. My husband and I both had wisdom tooth extraction done by him and we recovered really well! He also has a really nice fishtank and some toys in his office that will help keep your little one occupied while he works on your teeth!

I have (unfortunately) have had many dentists over the years. Dr. Burstein is far and away the best dentist I’ve ever had. He has a great «chair-​side manner» and does excellent and PAIN-​FREE work. He’s just the best.

I’ve been going to Barry for about 30 years now and can’t say enough wonderful things about him and everyone in the office. It’s a very relaxed, «family» environment and always reassuring. I believe he started off as primarily a pediatric dentist and as far as I can tell, many of the kids he treated are still seeing him as adults.

Dr. Burstein and his staff are all amazing — professional, good-​natured, knowledgeable and helpful. Dr. Burstein himself is very gentle and calming, which I really, really appreciate. Everyone here is so nice. How nice? The patient next to me brought flowers. He brought FLOWERS for the dentist and the excellent staff. Yeah, Dr. Burstein’s that good.
