This place is always tasty and reliable. The pupusas, carne asada, yuca, sopa de gallina are amazing. Even their bfast will have you full thru out the day. I highly recommended this family owned and operated place.

The good here is real down to earth home cooked El Salvadorian food! You will not leave here dissatisfied. They really put love into the meals. Gonna be back here soon. Plates are full and tasty. Service is great. But he ready to wait at time this little shop is busy.

Whole in the wall eateries? What to think of them? Well, a lot of them often serve the best food! I would classify this pupuseria as one of the good ones. The review is for the pupusas. This place can easily be missed as it’s not located on the street. Located inside mission markets, in the center of the market, is where this location aid located. I love pupusas. For those of you who do not know what they are, it is a corn tortilla filled with either cheese, or pork or a combination of them or with beans and cheese. Sometimes the tortilla is too thick and not much filling at other pupuserias. Not at this location! Possibly the best pupusa I’ve had in the city. First off, made to order pupusas! Fresh and how it should be! What I love about theirs, is the tortilla is shaped thin and it is full of cheese! Thin is great! It’s not to thick which would then make it really hard to taste what’s on the inside. I hate that. They are very consistent in how they make theirs. It’s always the perfect ratio of tortilla to filling. I love the cheese pupusas. It has a really nice buttery crispness on the outside and lots of gooey cheese on the inside! So good! Combine that with the Curtido(a vinegar based cabbage slaw) and makes an even better flavor combination. I bit of sour and sweet and salt all in one…

So easily overlooked! This little gem is tucked away inside a Latin shopping center. The Pupuseria sign lured me in. There it was, an island restaurant in the middle of the center. I did have friendly service but then some communication breakdown when I did not see them cooking. Little did I know the kitchen is actually on the side. The pupusas are large and the cheese is flavorful. I did get a good corny taste too. The cole slaw is terrific, actually perfect spice and crunch. I wish the bean and pork had made a bigger impression on me but I will certainly return. As I sat waiting for my order I notice a guy pulling apart and enjoying a lacy looking item. I asked and was shown on the menu a tripe platter. Ooh I love me some tripe. I will come back on a chilly day for the stew.

Disorganized. Ordered some pupusas and i think they were being made in front of us… but we waited… and waited… and everyone else got some sort of bag filled with food, but we didnt. When I asked about my order? Oh yeah, we’ll make it now. then they were packaged and given to someone else. BAH! I would recommend La Santaneca for some really REALLY yummy pupusas any day. I came here to try something new and learned my lesson :/

Came here on a Mission Loc@l recommendation~ Our food was tasty and service was great~So why only 1 star? Food~Health Sanitation= Our waiter handled money~ touched food with her hands~ grabbed a rag and proceeded to garnish food afterwards ~This went for the rest of the staff~This place is eventually gonna get someone sick or dead!!! Will not be coming back here.

Get the plato tipico. It includes a corn fried tamale with chicken inside, a couple of yucca fries, chicharron, one pupusa, and a banana thing with crème inside. YUM! All for $ 11.50. Can’t beat it,

I miss this place so much. 100% Salvadorean. This is not your typical taqueria or some other version of what most people would like to call Latin cuisine. You feel like you are outside when you are inside, your taste buds are dancing because the food is too good to be true, your mouth is smiling, your eyes are shining. Come here to enjoy some futbol and the best platos de comida Salvadoreno! Hint(pupusas) OLE! OYE! OLE!

fantastic place to just chill. the people who run this place are absolutely the friendliest! the length of time to bring out your order is a little long but they are building a new kitchen which may speed up the process. ill be back here to try more than the papusas(which in themselves were pretty decent). i just love to come back and give them my business because of the atmosphere they create in this shack like island and their ultra friendly staff. i feel like part of the family

I went here with my friend once and tried their tamales. It was huge! and good not better than my mothers tamales lol but It was pretty good my friend had the pan con pavo and she loved it. Only bad thing is they do take a very long time to serve you but they are very friendly and funny.

The amazing pupusas here are definitely worth the long wait. I like to think that they take so long because they cook them fresh, but i didn’t see if that was true or not. Anyhow, the service was friendly and, at $ 2/pupusa, it wasn’t too pricey.

The only thing bad that i can say about this location is that they take a long time to bring your order. But it’s worth the wait. I like the pupusas and the sopa the gallina, which it not the same as sopa de pollo. It’s better. i will go there today and get some pupusas.

Went down Mission the otherday My dad saw this little whole in the wall place and wanted to try it(your dont argue with a 76 year old and a cain) The pupusas were pretty good they had flavor, my son who is a picky eater liked it and at the whole thing. Cool looking little spot looks like the type of place you would find near the beach in El Salvador. next that I am in the area I will go back

a small counter in the middle of the mall unfortunately, their guanabana drink was just too milky and missing the fruit flavor. maybe having pupusas in miami has spoiled it a bit for me in sf while sf has superior mexican cuisine to miami, sf can’t hold up to the latin places. i think i’ll look around some more.

The pupusas and tamales are pretty fab here… and only $ 2 each. I had a loroco tamale that had an olive in it… that still had the pit in it, so be careful. You’ve been warned.

We’re cruising along Mission looking for Pupusas and landed at Antojitos. I was disappointed about the service. The restaurant was empty and we was the only customer at that time and seems like they are not happy to see us customers. No one even say Hi and it took long for them to come to our table and take our order. The Pupusas tasted completely like a plain flour or undercooked and I know that at least they did us a favor of not putting much salt on the sauce. My, its completely a disaster experience… On the other hand, the bathroom was very clean!!!

Mariscada for $ 12 sounds expensive for an informal shack of a restaurant but when came, hoo boy. Half a crab, half a catfish, a pile of shrimp, random octopus tentacles, too many whole clams to count, deliciously seasoned, all in a thick fishy stew with all the bones, shells, heads, limes to squeeze and crab crackers, yellow crab stuff. As messy as a meal can get. Tortilla chips were homemade. Chilli relleno was full of potatoes instead of cheese, tamale had green beans, pea and carrot rice was delicious… Salvadoran food must be like Mexican, only healthy. Service was friendly but food took a long while to come, and not everything is explained or available in English. Ensalada drink consists of canned juice with tiny little cubes of fresh apple and pinapple. Not gourmet but kind of fun.

I had the plato tipico and boy was I stuffed. For $ 7.95 you can have a pupusa, yuca frita, pastel(meat and vegetables wrapped in a fried dough), curtido(vinegar doesn’t over power,) chicharron, and an empanada. We’re talkin about a feast here people. Here’s a list of other things they have: Chilate Salvadoreno Atole de Elote(corn), Pina(pineapple) and Shuco(has a bland taste, thats why its served with other flavorful foods) Milk or bean empanadas Chicken, rib, pork or pisque tamales Fried yuca Variety of soups Meat pasteles Turkey sandwiches. gah one of my favorites and reason to come back. And the tortillas are handmade Drinks: Horchata, cebada and melon, ensalada de fruta(fruit salad,) tamarindo, arrayan and maranon Milkshakes of strawberry, papaya, banana, zapote, mamey They also sell turkeys and chicken for the Holidays.
