where do I begin? I walk in and see Armando arguing with a hijab wearing customer who was asking for a hair cut. Armando told her it would cost $ 70(!) for a trim and she obviously walked out. Then, as I go to sit in his chair, he starts by saying «these Arabs are always like this. Always want stuff for free. I don’t deal with Arabs.» Completely amazed at his lack of professionalism, I informed him that I was Arab and that he was being racist. I was trying to give him a chance to apologize. Instead he says «well you’re different.» Wow. Not even an apology. I can’t believe I was about to let this guy cut my hair. I walked out. 1 star for this racist d-​bag.

I’ve been on the lookout for a quality barber, with a casual demeanor and reasonable price. My search has ended! This place won’t excite the snobs and posh, but customer service is great, very relaxed with an an execution that’s obviously decades of experience in the hands of this true expert. Thank you Armando, you have a customer as long as I live in Bay Area.

The place isn’t fancy but you can always walk in and I don’t think the man has taken a day off in 30 years.
I love that he is there anytime I need a haircut.

I only let Armando cut my hair, and he’s been my exclusive haircutter for more than 10 years. His has a bright little shop in the TL, and he always does a really good job. He’s friendly and is easy to talk to, and he’s very skillful and detail oriented. He always cuts my hair just right, and I’m usually in and out pretty quick.

I’m glad I found this salon. He’s fast, courteous, clean and gave me a great haircut. His shampoo chairs are a little ripped and things look a little cluttered but he listens and does a wonderful job. His work is comparable to the $ 100+ haircuts I’ve had before. I’m planning to come again.

I’ve been walking past Armando’s shop for months now and finally stopped off for a buzz cut. It’s a pretty distinctive and small shop; looks like he has been there for years. It’s also easy to see from the street who else is in there and if there is a wait.
Armando was a very nice guy and did a good job on my buzzcut. My only issue would be the cost; $ 20 for a buzzcut seems a bit steep to me. Still not sure if I will go back to not.

I have fine hair and always have a hard time getting a good hair cut. For years I went from one stylist/​barber to another, without much luck. One night, about 12 years ago, I was walking home from a bar, saw this place on Sutter, thought I’d give it a shot, and have not been to any other stylist since, I swear.

Armando is very polite, courteous, and does a Fantastic job. I used to live in the city so it was no problem getting to him, but now I live in Vallejo and make the trek out to see him every few weeks, it’s worth the drive, time, gas, and bridge tolls!
I can’t say enough good things about the guy. He’s always smiling, happy, and gives one great hair cut…

The guy that works here has been cutting my hair for 6 years. He knows exactly how to make it look thicker. I need all the help I can get.
The place has a great plant vine that hangs around and you can look right outside to a street that is usually sunny. Plus it is just a block from all the shops on Polk.

I went there today for a trim and I was satisfied with the service. It is a cozy place. 3 Chairs for a workstation. A large vanity mirror in front. Large open balcony type entrance that slides open. I could breathe! =)
Any case the young lady by the name of «Lula» was working in the salon. It was not busy there so I was helped on right away. She was very polite and very cool to talk with. She is very atriculant hairdresser. She cut my hair well. She has her own hair studio right next door but she helps out with this «Armando For Hair Salon» which I think is very cool of her.
Any case I brought in a picture of what style I wanted. It took 15 min.
Normally there are two guys that run the place.
