ArtZone 461’s mission focuses on Art as Experience, Art as more than a two or three-​dimensional object. We recognize the intangible invitation to a reality Experience: Living with original Art and nurturing a relationship with it. We assist institutions and all levels of collectors in developing a personal style and articulating private space — through the Art Experience.

History

Established in 1972.

ArtZone 461 Gallery closed its doors on Valencia Street in October, 2014. We continue to operate as an on-​line gallery, featuring works from most of the artist we had been showing. Check us out online and if you’re interested in our artists’ works please send us an e-​mail or call.

The former Charles Campbell Gallery is now ArtZone 461 and located on Valencia Street in one of San Francisco’s most vibrant neighborhoods with a stock of art-​related venues including performance, educational and visual arts.

ArtZone 461 features over 3,000 square feet of exhibition space, 14 ft. ceilings, a 100 ft. long brick wall, an extensive Art library, a generous flat file area, plenty of natural light and a friendly, knowledgeable and professional staff.

Steven Lopez and Eric Koehler bring to this venture a generation of experience as collectors, gallery owners and partners (since 1982). Lopez formerly owned the historic Charles Campbell Gallery. Building on this foundation, ArtZone 461 promises a continued, noteworthy contribution to the Bay Area cultural landscape

I came here to see Gage Opdenbrouw in the Main Gallery and Jose Ramon Lerma in the side gallery. The show was paired and curated by director Steve Lopez. The contrast between young Opdenbrouw’s huge canvases filled with arboreal imagery and Jose Ramon Lerma’s decades-​long career working in collage and assemblage was sublime… well done!
Opdenbrouw is one to watch, he’s beyond talented and dedicated to his art. Lerma has been on the scene for over 50 years, and should not be missed. I heartily recommend you support artists like Gage Opdenbrouw, and you definitely need to get in there and purchase some art by Jose Ramon Lerma.

ArtZone 461 is an eclectic art gallery located in the Mission district. It is run by three personable, generous, and knowledgeable men. On very short notice, we put together an event for a children’s art program, and the space was perfect for our event. Rent for the space was extremely reasonable for our three hour event, and Steve, Mark, and Antonio went above and beyond to have the gallery set up perfectly for our party! They greeted guests, helped the hosts, and made sure that the event was flawless! This is more than just a great gallery, if you need a unique space for an unforgettable event, this is just the place to rent! I cannot recommend ArtZone enough!

I shall agree with the previous posters. The artwork in there is fantastic, I especially liked the wealth of local art (ists). Needless to say, I am neither an expert nor a collector.
However, Eric at ArtZone 461 could easily turn me into me one. His appreciation for both art and individual can clearly be felt as soon as you walk in. And as you walk out you do it with a big smile — wondering where you could hang that great piece on the left wall…

This place may very well be the best gallery I’ve ever been in. The work which they showcase is interesting, but what really impressed me was the attitude of the owners. Most galleries tend to be a little on the stiff and uncomfortable side: Everyone in there expects you to know what’s going on, to be impressed, and if you’re worth their time, to want to buy something. Not so for these fine folks.
As soon as you walk in, they’ll say hi. If you look interested in the work, they’ll make sure you know everything you want to know about it. If you seem interested in a certain style, they’ll point you to where you can find more of it. They’re not there to enforce a certain type of culture, or to intimidate you into either buying or leaving. They’re there to help, to teach, and to be your friend if you’re interested. It makes me happy.
