History
Established in 1996.
The YMCA of San Francisco first began offering programs in the Bayview Hunters Point community through its Mission YMCA Branchy. In 1997, the Bayview Hunters Point YMCA proudly opened its own facility in rented space in the Bayview Plaza on Third Street. In 1998, the first Board of Managers was appointed to oversee the branch operating and programs implementations.
In 2001, The Bayview Hunters Point YMCA moved to its current home at the former All Hallows Catholic School at 1601 Lane Street.
In 2006, Gina Fromer, a native of the Bayview Hunters Point community, bacame Executive Director of the branch. The executive Director and trusted Board of Managers share passion to enhance and expand its current programs, services and community partnerships to best meet the needs od the diverse and dynamic community it serves.
