Bonjour Patisserie

Nothing’s worse than driving all the way over here at 9.30 am and finding this place is CLOSED when their damn hours are listed as OPEN at 7am. Why can’t you keep your damn hours updated? TOTAL FAIL

Loved the pastries. But this morning was a nightmare. Me: «I’ll have one sausage and one bacon croissant sandwiches to go» guy:“one ham and.” Me: «no, one sausage and one bacon» Ten minutes later, guy:“here you go, this ones bacon and this ones ham” me:“you mean sausage” him: yes that’s right. Get home and it’s ham. Bring it back and they silently without apology change out the meat and hand me a cold sandwich in which I find this disgusting short curly hair. No words.

An average food location.
It’s hard to tell if this place is a bakery or a restaurant. We came here for lunch one day, and when we walked in was surprised to see a menu and a lot of cakes – it feels like a it’s trying to be a bakery and a restaurant, to be French and Vietnamese, at the same time! Not a big deal, but was hard to know what’s the best thing to get when we first got to this place.
We got the Phở, which unfortunately wasn’t that great. When they first served it up, it looked great with a lot of scallions on top, and the portions were big. You can also tell the food is served hot and freshly cooked. Unfortunately once you start eating it, you realize the taste is actually not that authentic – the broth is very watery without much flavor.
When we got served the food we ordered, the staff spilled a little of the Phở soup on us, so he gave us a free piece of spicy chocolate cake, which was nice! The cake tasted awesome, with a deep chocolate flavor and a spicy kick. It was the first time I’ve ever tried spicy cake.
Overall, this place is much better in terms of the bakery. The lunch menu is probably something they added just to cater to the lunch crowd, but is clearly not their specialty. If we had known better this is primarily a cake spot, we would have just all ordered the cakes, which were amazing!

Bought two of their desserts. When I pulled the raspberries off the top they were moldy underneath. The cake was also on the dry side. Makes me wonder how fresh the cakes were. The chocolate mousse was good, as well as the raspberry mousse, but the fruit needs to not be moldy!

Quiet, quick, quant and delicious. I recommend getting the phở, it’s very fresh and filling!

I don’t like it when businesses post their hours and close way before. I had a dinner party and was looking forward to stopping by after work to pick up some desserts. I arrived at 5:40pm, They claim to close at 6:00pm.

Was introduced to this place years ago and revisited a couple days ago. I came back for their delicious macaroons and was surprised to find none displayed. Turned out there were two flavors left, strange they weren’t shown… I remember they used to plate them neatly behind the glass.

Used to love coming here… But how dirty is a bakery/​café that it gets a health score as low as 71?! too bad because the pastries were delicious

I come here often for my lunch break at work and have tried a few items. This is a cute and small bakery with friendly staff. I prefer coming here for the croissants and muffins over the starbucks next door. The macarons here are excellent. A good chewy texture but not too chewy. My favorite are the mango flavored ones! There are lots of fancy looking desserts which I’m sad to say I have not tried.
Recently they added phở to the menu which is quite interesting. I tried the beef phở to-​go and spilt a bit of the soup on the way back to work. :/​Be careful carrying it. The total was $ 10.60 for a small bowl which was a bit hefty to me but prices around here are about that much. For the price, I would have preferred a larger portion with more beef and maybe some beef balls. Flavor of the soup was rich and savory. The leaves and beansprout were placed in a separate tray and a packet of sriracha and hoisin sauce were also included. I would say their sandwiches (not taken to go) tasted much better. Usually comes with a side of house salad as well. When ordered to go, it doesn’t taste as good because its not heated up.

Fabulous little snack… Excellent snack while waiting for a meeting to start next door. The best service, really… Impressive food and thoughtful guys behind the counter.

Their macaroon cakes are to die for. My favorite bakery.

So dangerous to know that I can find french macaroons within walking distance of my internship. Pretty good macaroons with nice service. I’ll be back!

Not bad! The atmosphere could be a little better for longer stays– wobbly tables and kind of worn out. I had a slice of a pistachio strawberry cake and an éclair. Delicious :3

Time: 11:21am/66°F intermittent cloud
Purpose: Had a meeting across the street came out for brief break on phone with next client. Saw a client of mines in this area is weird. Got together for a chat afterwards before I knew it, I was lead into Bonjour. I’ve been here couple of times for coffee nothing big. Client ask me to go ahead and order, so I went with cheap simple eats so it won’t be a burden on them. At first I didn’t want anything till I see those macarons.
Ambiance: A café with 7 tables inside at most nine outside. Just ordinary enough to do just what’s intentions are. Pretty airy and cold at times but, if you huddle up in corner away from entrance you’ll be okay. The doors are close and drafts makes it in with no problem somehow. Few display case an drake pedestal rounds up the place. Couple of display cases one for dessert, one for premade sandwiches/​salads. IPad payment system, tip jar, samples on tray, leaning menu board, LCD screen for kitchen staff. Can hold an average conversation with raising voice. There aren’t much to choose from here, mostly premade. The sounds from coffee grinders can be annoying but it last only around 10 seconds or less, if you must then take it outside.
Staff: A lady and man probably owners not too friendly just said what do you need. A bit of a turn when you hear that tone being said to you. The lady worker didn’t really want to be there at the moment walks into kitchen area avoiding eye contact not just me but, a few other customers. Should’ve said, be right back!
Cleanliness: Grade B, some areas especially the utensils needs to be more organized. I did see oil stains on seats how can that be? Did all the people eat the same item smears it purposely?
Eats/​Drinks: Tuna sandwich with egg $ 7.99 and 2 macarons $ 1.85 ea. Sando was like any other just tomato and egg for garnish. The bottom bread was kinda hard even with the tuna on top. This leads me to believe process bread was definitely use and can’t be denied. However they get points for having enough tuna with just the right amount of mayo mixed in. Crack pepper and sea salt makes it a bit tastier but, not enough of a difference to bring out the best factor. Tasted like something you can make in office at work provided that all equipment and ingredients are available. Macarons weren’t as good as other places especially Tout. These were definitely vendor bought and deliver. Tasted very chewy no slight crunch on exterior. Some on display even have moisture separating actual color to darker hue. Thank goodness I didn’t have to pay for this meal.
Products/​Services: Coffee, hot/​cold drinks, danishes/​pastries, bagels, fruit salads, pastries, salad, soup, paninis, chips, cakes, quiches, pre made croissants/​sandwiches, wraps, hummus, macarons, combos, whole cakes/​slices.
Punch Lines: Macarons, fresh baked goods, strong coffee, minimal seating, so-​so wait time, no music/​TV, telling me to buy more than I should, pretentious, overpriced, nothing inspiring, free Wi-​Fi, budget watchers, kitschy décor, light bites, snooty service, occasional spotty service, nothing out of the ordinary, sleeper, quite bland, not as good.
Tradeoffs: Now if your work has a cafeteria, I suggest you go ahead with it saving yourself some time and money.
Final Thoughts: There is absolutely nothing worth the price you’re paying for. Biggest disappointment was the fruit salad that came with tuna sando. It was the kind that hotel industry uses like Bi-​Rite and Sysco were the fruits are cut spray with preservatives to browning. Sadly, I was even told they just made it couple of hours ago. This review hurts me to write about it than any other. I guess the ones that has 4 – 5 stars are the ones that works nearby gets differential treatment. Not saying I won’t be back but, I’ll just be on the safe side sticking with coffee.

We used Bonjour Patisserie to help us with our macaroon wedding favors for our July 2014 wedding. We had been researching different bakeries within San Francisco, and chose Bonjour based on price and location. Felecia who helped us was fantastic throughout the whole process, very communicative over phone and email and was a joy to work with.
She helped us select flavors based on our wedding color palate, and not only baked, but packaged the macaroons and delivered them to the venue as well. They were very high quality, tasted delicious, and all of our guests were talking about how much they loved them.
Favorite flavors were the rose, vanilla and espresso. Highly recommend for a wedding or special event favor.

Was wandering the streets in search of a late lunch and was lured in by the Italian Sausage sandwich on the sidewalk sign.
Kitchen was closed so I got the pre-​made Chicken & Mozzarella sandwich ($ 7.50) which came with a simple side salad (

Fillings were good, but I’m undecided on the bread which was firm, a little crunchy and slightly flakey; it was like the bastard child of a croissant and ciabatta bread (

Came by the other day and surprised at the mediocre experienced.
Started off with the Salmon Quiche w/​o the salad… Surprisingly, the price was the same w/​o the salad?!? The quiche was «heated up» but still came out cold?!? The salmon quiche was odd as it had some nut-​like paste between the egg and the crust?!? …there were only minimal portions of salmon too.
The mocha was huge… chocolate was bland… tasted more like a huge glass of milk with some light bland chocolate?!?
Saw an employee hanging out on break inside the café with his latex glove still on, and playing with his phone… I hope he changes/​washes his glove before going back to work… as his glove was already all yellow… at least at the fingers?!?

My go-​to French bakery is on vacation for a few weeks… uh oh! I needed a birthday cake!
So I spent yesterday driving around the Bay Area tasting cakes which was so tragic. :)
In the end only 2 cakes made the cut, and Bonjour Patisserie’s Opera cake was one of them. The taste was incredible, and it was really beautiful. Bonjour Patisserie might end up replacing my go-​to French bakery…
My only complaint is that they don’t post their closing time, which seems a little flakey and definitely inconvenienced me. Discussion with the café next door revealed that they usually leave around five, and don’t reopen in the evenings. So don’t believe anything you read about them being open until ten…

After my user research experience at ModCloth, I wanted to find some pastries to bring back to the boyfriend. I walked over to Bonjour Patisserie which is surrounded by Adobe (the company) buildings. Good thing I don’t work there because I would be here every morning for their almond croissants. It is crispy and flaky outside and chewy and almond pasty inside. Really good.
The place is fairly small, but good for a grab of goodies. I bought some macarons, but yet to taste them. I’m sure they will be fantastic. The service was a little weird though. The guy that served me felt… a little um… aloof and a bit… um…how you say…“I don’t care about you, but I’ll serve you because you want something” feel.
