FOOD: 3 SERVICE: 2 AMBIANCE: 3 VALUE: 4 What can I say? A low cost Dim Sum place that taste OK, but the portions are smaller. If you eat at a regular Dim Sum restaurant, you get more per order. For example, a normal order of Har Gow(shrimp dumpling) you get 4 pieces, here you only get 3 pieces; thus if you have a family/group of 4, you will need 2 orders and then, will you really be saving any money? Their steamed and baked buns looked OK. But I think their fried food will be greasy because they just look that way. Overall like mall/fast food, OK for something quick but not where I would willingly return.

I was motivated to write this special review not about their delicious food, but rather because I witness an act of kindness and exceptional customer service by this young lady working there.
I bought this one big item to eat and just finish paying for it, so I decided to throw in $ 1 into the tips cup. She ask me if I’m getting anything to drink? I reply«sure» and grab one of the small vita soy drink. Next she took that $ 1 from her cup and was going to pay for my drink for me! Thought that was unusual, I graciously refused and paid for my drink and thank her anyway. I sat down to eat but later there was a young guy and a young lady with a guitar had came in and said something to her. They didn’t stay long but I saw that the cashier gave the cash from her tips cup to them. I found out later that guy and lady was going to sing Christmas songs for donations to charity. Too bad she sent them away with her donation without letting them sing first, I would have enjoyed it. There was other people eating and talking, perhaps she didn’t want them interrupted by them? The foods there are great just like any other dim sum place out there. I don’t write about dim sum take out because many of them are the same too me.

I’ve come to this place countless times. Don’t let the health score fool you, I don’t know what goes on behind the scenes but the dim sum itself it’s pretty tasty. Great place if you’re looking for a bite on the go, they got spare ribs over rice for under $ 4 bucks, pretty good deal! This is not a destination place by any means, however if you’re near by and want cheap dim sum this is it. Some of the things I like here are: Fried dumplings Bbq pork dumplings Sweet rice cake(runs out quickly) Siu mai I haven’t tried the porridge, and will try in the near future. All in all this is a great place for a quick bite or for lunch.

Booming Dim Sum is the place to go if you’re having the dim sum craving but you don’t want to wait 2 hours outside for Hong Kong Lounge. This is a place to go for take out dim sum. Its located on Noriega and 22nd-ish in a small restaurants seating about 10 people. Most of the people here are locals that order take out although they do offer wifi if there are customers that want to enjoy their food while surfing the web. Prices are relatively cheap. It’s definitely a lot less than Hong Kong Lounge and the quality of it is a little lower. For the price and convenience(no wait time), I say its worth it. Stand out dishes: –Turnip Cake –Congee –Mango pudding Good dishes: –Egg Tart –Shu Mai –Glutinous rice wrapped in banana leaves Okay dishes: –Shrimp Dumplings(Ha Gao) Cash Only

I would give this place 0 stars. I got served a cold egg roll and the pork dumplings tasted gross and where over stuffed with nasty meat. I was very in happy and being that I was due for dinner at the time I over ordered. I couldn’t finish my dumplings because they were so nasty. Never going back to that place again. I’ll keep going to Shang hai house on balboa street :) gladly

3 steam BBQ pork buns 3 «dog doesn’t care» buns(with meat, gow choi, and some shrimp) 3 shrimp dumpling 3 siu mai 3 salt water horn(made with sticky rice, sweet and salty, meat inside) all of these for 15DOLLARSTOTAL, more than enough for my wife and I! And the thing is, they taste GOOD. certainly no worse than most of the expensive dim sum restaurants I’ve been to where each person could easily end up paying $ 20 and go home having another cup O noodle. nice friendly service and the line is very short… Sunday afternoon.

I wish I could give 0 star. Been there this morning, the lady who took order used the same gloves to grab food and take money.(come on, it is 2015, who is still doing that in the city?!) got the pork bun, it tasted awful. Worst steamed pork bun in the city. Then, I started to realize that, the steam paper underneath the buns is regular office print paper. Shouldn’t it be some sort of waxed paper for food use only? I had the same kinds of dim sum all over the city, Clement st., Irving st., Chinatown, and mission district. Trust me, this Booming Dim Sum is the worst.

I come to booming for their togo dimsum and this place is cheap and it tastes good. Given those circumstances it is the best a take out dimsum place and get. I always like to get the turnip cakes and fried meat dumplings and har gao shiu mai. One of the ladies sometimes throws and extra piece in my order maybe because I frequent so much but regardless they are kind and the dim sum is fantastic for the price.

Funny store name but serious dim sum noms. I don’t think I can recommend the savory fried dumplings(鹹水餃) enough – massive, greasy, chewy, with satisfying bits of pork and a mochi-like exterior fried to a lovely golden crisp! I also like their siu mai which has pieces of shrimp stuffed within all that porky goodness. The most popular items seem to be BBQ pork-centric, including large glutinous steamed BBQ pork dumplings and their signature HK-style pineapple bun with BBQ pork filling. Prices aren’t cheap(about the same as Happy Bakery on Irving) but the food here is seriously very good. Other pluses include a couple of tables and chairs in case you want to eat-in and free Wi-Fi!

The only dim sum joint I’ve found where the workers seem to go out of their way to be helpful. Clean and quiet environment. Slightly more expensive than Clement.

very nice service here. offered to heat up the pot stickers without me asking. it’s a small place — good just to get something to go, but not really to eat there. got my sweet rice cake, pot stickers and big cha su bao. I found the sweet rice cake to be sweeter than typical. The pot stickers were mostly cabbage with a little bit of meat. The cha su bao was quite good. I would get the rice cake and cha su bao again. overall the selection was limited in comparison to shops along clement street.

I have decided that this place is good really depending on whether you can get fresh food here or not. The last time I was there, the shrimp dumplings were not sandy — but quite delicious, and the pork buns were very tasty, also very fresh. The pineapple pork bun was interesting — a pork bun with a pineapple bun crust. The pork was not overly fatty and did not have the«fishy» or un-fresh taste that happens with meat sometimes. You know what I’m talking about? Like when you cook meat and it’s not that fresh and you neglect to drown it in lots of wine to stabilize the smell/taste? Anyway, I’d come back for the buns, and the shrimp dumpling. No go on the sticky rice.

Very good bo lo bao(pineapple buns)!! Fresh, tasty, and full of custard goodness. The ham sui gok(fried pork dumplings) were pretty good too — definitely bigger than what you would get at other places. It’s a fairly small place with a good selection of baked and steamed items.

New owners and the food is so much better. I swear there must be some secret ingredient in their siu mai. Their shrimp dumplings are also very good. As well as their crispy bbq pork buns. So far I haven’t found any other place in the city that sells them. There usually isn’t a line here as their dim sum is $ 2.40 a plate versus $ 1.80 a plate at other places. They also don’t have some of the regular dishes like shark fin dumplings or beef siu mai. Will be back when I have a craving for dim sum.

Really sweet owners who overstuffed a box with one extra cha siu bao and another free item, I think it was a chicken/mushroom bun, along with an order of sesame balls(3 to an order) that my little boy loves. I had stopped into Booming Dim Sum but the only non-fried item Booming Dim Sum had at the moment was ha gao –which looked amazing — however I was looking for more steamed items. But, what I did buy at Booming Dim Sum was excellent and their cha siu bao rivaled Lung Fung’s. In fact, Booming Dim Sum’s cha siu bao might be just a touch better with this sugary glaze that gave the bun a nice texture and filled with savory BBQ pork goodness. I know I’ll be headed back to to Booming Dim Sum, if only for their delectable cha siu bao and their juicy ha gao I’ve yet to experience. Worth the trip across town!

Booming dim sum looks like a dim sum take out place but they have many tables available for inhouse dining. assume menu has chow mein, congee, rice plates. et al. mostly seniors dining in flatscreen: cantonese show eats: –har gow(3/1.8) shrimp just ok, thick skin gummy –shrimp rice roll(2.2) terrible shrimp inside crêpe roll not silky, seem day old takeouts: -«go bu li» buns was an option, should have, didn’t. –most dim sum not visible, under cover –tax charged. they wanted to skimp on the bag. i didn’t care either way –3 ladies taking orders, was rushed to order though few patrons in line. –dim sum not a good value relative to quality given. –wouldn’t repeat based on other reviews and my experience.

Weekend dimsum is one of my favorite meals and on the way to my girlfriend’s hair stylist, we spotted a new joint on Noriega. It was their grand opening and the prices and food looked pretty good, so we walked in for some eats. Right away I was confused by whether I ordered at the counter or if it was table service. We decided to risk sitting down and ordering and waited awhile for somebody to take our order. We picked up the usual har gow and shiu mai, along with egg rolls, turnip cakes, and chicken buns. Overall, I thought the dishes were kind of bland and the proportion of bun to filling on the fluffy buns was way off. The turnip cakes were probably my favorite of this bunch, but overall, it was pretty disappointing. Table service was effectively non-existent, and you’re better off ordering at the counter and bringing it to a table. Prices are decent, but I think the quality elsewhere is much better. The selection isn’t great either and there are only about 20 choices and mostly ones I don’t typically order. I’ll pass on this place next time. Food: 6⁄10 Service: 2⁄10 Price: $ Atmosphere: 5⁄10

Booming Dim Sum opened today, replacing another takeout dim sum place(Lotus). The dim sum(dumplings, buns, sesame balls, cakes) is mostly 3 pieces(1 order) for $ 1.80. They also have congee, rice noodle rolls, spareribs with rice and chow mein. They speak limited English. The items are numbered on the paper menu, so you can probably try ordering by number. Also you should state whether you want one piece or one order(with three pieces). There isn’t as much variety as some other dim sum takeout places. There are tables to sit at and watch Chinese TV and they sell the Chinese paper, Sing Tao Daily. * Steamed chicken buns(3 for $ 1.80): small buns with little filling and a sweeter, fluffy, light dough, the filling had a nice gingery taste w/shitake mushroom, chicken and cabbage. I wish they made bigger steamed buns. * Har gow(3 for $ 1.80): big dumplings filled with small pieces of shrimp, thicker skin, sweet filling, pleasant but bland I didn’t see a cash only sign but it seems like a cash only kind of place.
