As parents we want to provide our children every opportunity for a future in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). Children, especially girls, are more likely to pursue a STEM career if they have a positive STEM class or teacher experience at an early age. Bricks 4 Kidz San Francisco is particularly passionate about engaging STEM concepts by encouraging students to explore engineering concepts and principles through hands-​on LEGO® model building. My adventure with Bricks 4 Kidz began when I took a departure from my corporate job of 10 years and dove into learning how to engage kids in (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) S.T.E.M through the use of LEGO® bricks. My inspiration comes from my son, Oliver, watching him play with the LEGO® bricks; building various models with hardly any guidance from my husband and me. He quickly built confidence, fine motor and problem-​solving skills, and best-​of-​all he was having fun!

I hold a Bachelor Degree in Zoology and a Masters Degree in Science from Louisiana State University and have spent almost 15 years working in the fields of science, technology and engineering.

My daughter has attended a few of the Bricks 4 Kidz sessions during her school holidays, as well as the recent winter camp. We were initially concerned because she can be shy in new situations, and would be one of the younger children in attendance. She really does like to build things, and has a fantastic memory. But she puts a lot of pressure on herself to get things «just right.»
In all of the sessions that she went to, Najee and Vanisha were primarily the ones working with her. They helped to make her feel comfortable, and welcome at the facility. I feel like they really got to know her well, and my daughter really enjoys coming home and showing me what she made at camp. In addition to working with Legos, the kids also do various art projects. Each class (or camp) has a theme such as energy, or honeybees, and it is fun to see how some of those lessons pop up at home. When the weather is cooperative, the kids also have a chance to play outside and get some air.

My son is 6 yrs old attending the Bricks 4 Kidz class held at Rooftop elementary once a week. He is so excited every week and looks forward to participate in the class because of the hands on. My son saved throughout the summer to attend this class and even though it was a struggle for us the program worked with us. We are so grateful and thankful for Bricks 4 Kids!
My son is able to put the most challenging LEGO set together with confidence and it’s exciting to be included as a parent. I had no idea how much fun it was until I joined him with one of his LEGO sets (it was my first time ever) and I was excited! I look forward to the camps coming up and I would recommend this program to others. I see the difference in his ability to just jump in and try something new with confidence! Thanks Bricks 4 Kidz!

My son is so excited to head to another Bricks for Kidz camp this summer. He just loves the themes they come up with and I love that he doesnt just stay inside all day playing with bricks — they do so much more than that — its a really well rounded program from art projects and free play to more structured activities and they go outside and play at neighborhood playgrounds! The class size is not too big and the kids always seem to get a long and have fun!
I would definitely recommend the Bricks for Kidz camps to anyone looking for a quality experience at a great price!

My son has attended two different sessions of camp and had a great time. He’s only 4 so on the younger side, and Kim and the teachers were very accommodating and allowed him to participate. The camp was fun and has really helped develop his interest in Legos. Now, my other son wants to attend too and we will definitely be going back. The teachers were very friendly and the camp is well organized. I also really appreciated that after camp, the teachers sent pictures.

My son loved this camp, he is 5 going on 14 and he told me that he wasn’t bored at all during his time with Kim and her crew. My son is super active and for him to tell me he wants to go again, or to tell me that he wants another day with Bricks 4 kidz is a winner in my book! The only tiny detail… that is a bummer… is that there are no classes in our neighborhood, so we have to trek across the city… BUT it’s worth it!

Recently, my 5 yo son went to the Space Lego Camp. I was nervous because he is shy and can have difficulty with new situations but Kim and her team made him feel comfortable.
He had a great time working with the Legos (which is something that is new for him), drawing and art, and making new friends. He came home raving about his day and since then has been in love with Legos. Camp really piqued his interested in Legos, building structures and being a little more creative with the Legos. He keeps asking to go again.
I love that the camp is available for the many holidays and breaks the kids have.

My two boys, ages 6 and 8, attended these camps and had a really great time. They enjoyed the combination of lego building, artwork and time playing outside.
My boys said the lego building was good for beginner builders and interesting enough for more advanced builders. I their eyes the only down side was that they had to build things with multiple colored bricks as there were not enough of the single color bricks to build some of the projects. (Please note my kids have thousands of legos so they are very particular about this and they also typically build 14+ sets). My boys said the teachers were really nice.
As a parent, I enjoyed the ease of registration, drop off and pick up. I missed the registration deadline and signed up last minute and they were very accommodating and responsive.

I took my toddler to the Mommy and Me Lego class recently. I was unsure what could be taught to my independent, «I’ll do it my way» guy.
I was so impressed! He beamed with pride after we completed the project for the class. I loved how we changed things up with some singing and the letter play. My son was able to create the letter ‘A’ by himself with legos! It blew my mind that he had the coordination for that. It has opened up my mind about how I can be using the bricks at home for more educational uses.
Teacher Kim is delightful. Relaxed and super encouraging. She has a gift for keeping the toddlers engaged. Highly recommended!
