This place seemed closed for good when I walked by there today. Too bad — was hoping to spend an afternoon here.

Good cheap coffee, free wifi and tons of personality. Caffiene could definitely be a bit slow when crowded, but not a place to would go if you’re in a hurry.

Went on a weekday — midday. 4 or 5 people there, but… Great people, great yerba matte tea, exciting location, awesome owner. The end.

If you need somewhere to get away on a week day away from the screen late at night, this is the place to go. It’s usually not crowded at this time, but the owners are welcoming and it feels like a second or third home at times. When the weekend rolls around the place gets packed with a dj downstairs and a globally charged group of 20 somethings, along with your local creatives and art students.

This is my new favourite place to just relax. There is such a relaxing atmosphere inside. The music, candles and art. The art is so interesting. They have 4 beers on tap, but I do wish they had more. You can also sit outside with ample seating. The owner is a nice guy. He’s friendly and will sometimes introduce himself to you. The hours are great. Not too many cafes open as late as Caffeine.

Since Caffeine is right next to one of my favorite spots and what used to be a regular spot for me — Cairo Nights– I’ve found myself, coming into Caffeine pretty regularly for a nightly fix of mint tea and water. The inside has some great solid art on the walls. I’m particularly partial to their alluring lighting –that helps solidify this place as being more than just a coffee shop. It’s a place that you want to hang out in at night. On their big oversized seating, by their piano. Caffiene also tends to stay open late, due to the foot traffic next door at Cairo Nights, so if you want a more mellow place to hang, rather than the typical dive bars in the area — Caffeine is an ideal spot. Also they tend to play good music as the night progresses. This past Monday I walked by to see people breaking it down inside — so I can easily see Caffiene, with enough buzz, becoming a unique destination spot as well. Caffeine is too hip and quality of a place to go un-noticed. Check them out and help keep a late night café around. Something which we definitely need more of in the city.

A great little spot in the Tenderloin. If you live in Nob Hill or are in the union square area and are looking for a place to chill for a few hours… this place is perfect. Good energy, great ambiance, artsy, friendly people… mellow and clean. They serve coffe/tea as well as beer/wine. The owner is very friendly and can be usually seen mingling around with people. If you ask him, he may let you come in to DJ and have your friends over for a party.

I created a Unilocal account because I simply had to review this place: When I moved to SF I started looking for a good coffee shop, and being that it is San Francisco, my standards were high. The usual criteria: Good coffee, good people, good music, good atmosphere. Caffeine takes all those criteria and knocks them out of the park. The coffee is delicious(they have food and beer as well) The people are friendly and remember my name and face, the art is great and best of all, its from local artists, and the music is always good and always changing. All in all, you couldn’t ask for a better coffee shop anywhere, but especially near the tenderloin! Check this place out, you won’t be disappointed.

I was early for dinner at a near by restaurant and had time to kill. So, I saw this café looking place and thought maybe a cup of coffee or tea? Instead, I was greeted by a dimly lit place with a sprinking of patrons strewn about the mismatching furniture, good mellow house music, and 4 or 5 different beers on tap. I ended up ordering a beer instead and took a seat by the front window, chilled, watched interesting groups of people walk by, and enjoyed every bit of my stella. Aaahhh! This place really made my night!

This place is the best place to hangout at the city! Where should i even begin? The decoration of the place is very edgy and chic and the same time. Great place for art students to just sit and find inspiration. Now they even have a huge flat screen TV on the wall. The people that work here are extremely friendly. They’ll go out of their way to greet new people and make them feel welcomed. These guys are awesome! I dont really drink coffee, so I don’t really know. I heard they were great. One thing i know is that they’ve got a great beer and wine selection to choose from. Plus they come up with new creative cocktails from time to time. delicious. Love this place, and would totally bring my friends from out of town to hang out here.

I initially thought this café was a bit sketchy but its actually quite a gem. Not pretentious by any means, you are bound to find interesting characters come and go in this quaint coffee shop. Try the spicy chai lattes!

There’s too much love to go around. But I’ll be back later… No seriously, these guys are the best. This is the one place in the city that feels like home, and it’snot due to location(oasis is right), but due to the welcome that the owners bend over backwards to extend to locals and new-comers alike. I had a party here — and inaugurated their karaōke system. They roll out the red carpet consistently, update art, put love into their food and music, and keep the drinks coming. Cool, friendly, affordable.

[review based on a private party] this place is truly an oasis in the middle of kind of uhh, a well, let’s say sketch, nabe. so yeah. i was here for a smallish private party, about 10 – 15 people, and it was great. the owner(?) was really cool, the space was really cool, and it just felt warm* and inviting. kinda wish i had a place like that out here in fremont! i wouldn’t really call it a café… more like a little artsy-fartsy coffee shop that also serves food. the walls are covered with some great art, the menu looked to be pretty good(didn’t order anything, but i would have if i could have), and hm… yeah, you just get a good feeling from it. best part of the night was the karaōke: D hella fun! * it was so warm i took off the long-sleeve shirt i was wearing under my T… and left it there by accident. if anyone sees a l/s olive thermal t-shirt from american apparel, it’s mine ;)

Really sweet place with good vibe, clean, well kept. They have free wifi and stay open way late(10pm weekdays, 2am weekends) and throw their doors and tables out to the Tenderloin nights. It cheers up a harsh block of the city. They were open and did something really sweet for Thanksgiving, they put out a turkey meal.

Back for the granola, and it reaffirmed the five stars. For $ 3, a very generous serving, topped with fresh slices of strawberries, and some flax powder. That last bit was a tad unusual, but I went with it. I think I was too enamored with the space and service to care one way or another. In Caffeine I trust.

It seems like a typical café with slightly above average beer and wine choices. I was there for a private party and I can tell you that it is not good for 100 people at the same time but I had fun nonetheless. I suggest you keep an eye on the cashier. once he gave me change back from a five when I gave him a ten, then he took my money and forgot to give me my beer. It was probably the busiest it had ever been there so I don’t think he was being sneaky but still keep track of your stuff.

I went here for a private party and respected the tables on the sidewalk and the fact that the music was bumping, but no one complained(the TL factor perhaps?) It did warm up in there when a lot of people arrived, but the owner is cool and the drinks were reasonable for the evening.
