Candybar and Kung Fu Taco Truck? Oh my Valentine! UYE

5 Stars all the way!
Nestled close to the heart of SF, and conveniently close to tons of other bars within walking distance, Kung Fu tacos seriously flying kicked me in my mouth!
Got one of everything and it was ALL GOOD! But to not reiterate what has already been stated, the Roasted Duck was sooooo effing good! What mad it even more rad was the fact they partnered up with Candybar. So if you buy taco’s, you can bring them right in, order some happy hour drinks, and enjoy the rest of the afternoon away.
I ended up ordering one of everything, then later ordering another roasted duck to accompany my happy hour priced beer to wash it down.
I HIGHLY recommend this truck. Throw away all your assumptions regarding taco trucks, and this one will NOT disappoint you.

It was nice catching up with people and seeing new faces. Kung Fu tacos and Little Star pizza combined with some pretty desserts made for a foodie’s paradise. (

My first UYE, what a great way to get into the Valentine mood.
Came with Sarina I., wish we could have made it sooner, but looking for parking was just a hot mess! Circles & circles, passing the Kung Fu Taco truck made me even more ansy, «We should just double park by the truck…*lol*» Finally parking a block away :) & the night starts!
It was fun to be in the company of a bunch of happy Unilocalers, dessert, & drinks! I couldn’t have asked more… maybe well a taco! Unfortunately the truck ran out by the time my lazy butt got up to order :(one day, one day, I will try them, but til then «Asian Asadaaa» repeats in my head, it has a good ring to it haha
I ordered an Apple a la Mode. The cream cheese filling and gingerbread ice cream got me. It was delicious, fancy, & a lil different considering the apples were sliced so thin, but I loved it! Washed it down with a Raspberry Delight sparkling wine, mmm mmm.
I had such a fun time & meeting new Unilocalers, sorry I forgot a few names, but I remember Hannah C. soo sweet! Thanks.
Lastly, I’m still wondering sooo was that Jay-​Z in the art piece on the wall? I loved the art work all around.

I know I can’t top Wanugee’s hot and heavy review, but I have to Unilocal anyway for a great event that Peter hosted!
I came here late after work, kept checking if the party would end soon. Cabbed out and entered a very busy and cute bar! Lots of darling Unilocalers here, familiar faces that I have met only a few days earlier.
The red velvet cake I tried was inventive, to make it a V-​day style I also had the Strawberry kiss, great light champagne to pair with the dessert.
Lots of great seating, all pitches of laughter, multiple conversations happening all around, my Unilocalers are my valentine!
Big thanks and hug to Peter for such a fantastic turnout, and to Dennis for inviting me and dragging me out of work!

My FIRST EVER UYE!!! I am still (in training) to learn the Unilocal lingo! Jennifer C. P has helped me along the way! Thanks girl! We arrived around 7 sumthing? took awhile to find parking since I was being stubborn to take the bus that day!!! After finding parking right on divis, we walked straight into Candybar and I was recognized by Jennifer C. P, again, she is a sweetheart!
Hannah C. was very welcoming to us, along with everyone else! Thanks everyone!
On to the desserts! I ordered the Strawberry Kiss for $ 4, thanks to extended happy hour prices and $ 9 for the Brownie thingy! Sorry, I forgot the name but it was delish! I did not finish it since it was so sweet but in a good way. I’m not a sweet tooth, more of a **food tooth** but none the less it was yuummy!
I met some good people and stirred some good convo. I’m young, 21! okay, but I love that Unilocalers are all so diverse and open. Thanks everyone once again. And thanks Peter L. for making a great UYE for my first!!!
A girl NEVER forgets her FIRST time ;)

Congrats Peter on your first UYE! Wonderful and marvelous, my friend! Even better that it was in my ‘hood!’ I was so impressive that Peter was so well-​organized in taking care of every single detail of this UYE. On the UYE’s eve, I ran into him on Divisadero, checking out the different bars and restaurants that we could hit up after the UYE. Of course, I accompanied him, and gave my 2 cents (and maybe, just maybe, a UYE bar pub crawl could be in the works in the near future, especially since we didn’t get a chance to hit up any of them)!
This UYE was at a great location, at Candybar! Love the interior and the service was friendly, efficient, and accommodating. There were so many wonderful sweet desserts to go along with the sweet Unilocalers. It was so lovely to see many familiar faces to catch up with them, and to meet some newbies, too! Special props to those who trekked from the Oakland and the South Bay, especially Hazel G, who represented Felton! Woot woot! And, speaking of that hottie, I’m grateful that she allowed me to try the «Strawberry Limeade — Strawberry Mousse, Vanilla Cake, Calamansi Cream, and Strawberries» served in a mason jar. I loved the sweet and tart combination.
As for the drinky drinks, Jennifer CP, allowed me to try her drink, the Michelada (Pacifico, Salt Rim, Tabasco, and Lime Juice), which I’m sure would find more enjoyable if I liked the spice factor in beverages. I also tried the Strawberry Kiss (Sparkling Wine, Ginger Ale, Frozen Strawberry), which was sweet and refreshing. Aah!
I loved that Peter took care of us by ordering Little Star pizza, and of course, the tacos from the Kung Fu Taco Truck. You really can’t have the sweets without the savory, right?
Awesome location, great desserts, good service, and fun Unilocalers = Oh Mylanta, or shall I say, Oh my Valentine, tis a wonderful UYE!
Peter, thanks again for a fun and fabulous UYE in my ‘hood.’ When will you plan the next one? hee hee!

This is my second UYE event that i’ve been to recently and what can I say, Peter’s first UYE was a smash hit. I had a great time just chatting with friends and meeting new ones. Candybar desserts were delicious. It was a perfect place for us to hang out, eat, drink, and bring in Kung Fu Tacos & pizzas.

Apple a la Mode:
Baked apple, ginger bread ice cream, hazelnut/​pine nut crust… I think I know what they eat in heaven now.
Kung Fu Tacos: Duck. Get the duck. It was by far everyone’s favorite.
Fav. Drink: Jasmine Sparkle=mix between fresh apple, jasmine tea, and champagne. Interesting and delicious.

It was wonderful to meet so many people that I’ve been dying to see as well as new friends! I had a sugar-​high, alcohol buzzed, and Unilocal-​alicious good time!

The weather didn’t cooperate but still a lot of people came.
Tacos, drinks, desserts and pizza, I can’t believe this place allows it all in. The service was very friendly, I’ll update this review as soon as I clear my head.

Congrats on your very first time! I know you were a little nervous about your first time, what with all the beautiful girls lined up getting excited about your package and all… that is your first UYE package!
But you kept it going and made it last, and everyone loves you long time for it!
And you had them ohhing and ahhing with how you put out!
Candy is Dandy, but Liquor is Quicker, and well,
Candybar had it all!
Not to mention the guys and gals getting all hot and bothered about slurping up those delicious and exotic Asian tacos, Kung Fu style! Now that was something that captured everyone’s imagination!
And you were the prefect host, making sure everyone was getting off even before you did!
Ordering those sweet delectables to break the ice for those shy young ones, oh! and getting some deep red juiciness to put in everyones pie hole! Was that a sausage in that deep pie box?
You brought everyone to orgasm! (In their mouth!)
And with so many photographers taking pics, well, you could probably take the best shots and publish them somewhere! Hehe!
I think everyone enjoyed this UYE orgy with fellow Unilocalers, and everyone felt satisfied at the happy ending.

So… I’m all hot and sweaty, on my hands and knees (wait for it…) painting the frickin’ baseboards of my bathroom, and the Crackberry text light blinks.
David B. wants to know if I’m going to Peter L.‘s very first UYE @ Candybar. Help me, Cheesus, I’m a total wreck; Behr Paint & Primer all-​in-​one demolished my manicure; no make up… How did I let my home renovation therapy distract me from Peter L.‘s UYE?
And… Hello? Kung Fu Taco Truck? This is the epitome of the Chinkana fusionista that is Kim D. Wu Shu Char Sui and Roast Duck + Mango tacos AND Red Velvet Cake PLUS my favorite Unilocalers… all in one location? Obviously, the planets have aligned just perfectly, and Peter L. is getting HIS UYE cherry popped.
Totally hat-​worthy.
Brilliant concept, Peter — good eats, delightful confections… although I don’t do «shredded coconut» on my Red Velvet Cake… The Blueberry Mochi Cake was very Jappo — not too sweet; toothsome texture and great green tea ice cream on the side. I also sampled a swipe of the Strawberry Limeade thingie — think fruity tiramisu, with light cake layers. Yum!
I had two virgin drinkies — A Strawberry Kiss, and an Orange Bellini. I stole a sippie of David B.‘s white sangria… which tasted virgin to me. So, I’m not sure how those who CAN drink rated the cocktails.
As for me: the Strawberry Kiss was overly sweet and a bit on the flat side… The Orange Bellini was also a bit «drab». But without a doubt, the company, the foodage and the Unilocalerosity of the whole fantastic event made this evening a 5 Star fling… no doubt.

My very first UYE and it was amazing! I mean, it was really due to my awesomely amazing Unilocal friends who made the trip out on a weeknight… on a freaking damp weeknight in the middle of the City! Woohoo! As good as it gets!
