I had an usual repair done that required stitching some things on my snowboard boot. I was turned away by some seamstresses around town but Carlos got it done in 2 days.

I personally won’t go back. I brought 2 pairs of boots in and had them resoled and one zipper fixed (on one boot), for $ 170. When I got them home I realized the inside of the bottom of the boots were either gone or destroyed. I thought he would replace them and that it might have been an honest mistake, like he didn’t finish. One pair of the boots were previously heavily worn (but not unwearable like they were upon return), but the other was not. When I brought them in he said that sometimes that happens and that I would have to purchase new insides. I felt cheated, and expressed that I would have expected to be told when I picked them up that there was additional work that needed to be done, as I brought them home expecting to be able to wear them. I will take my shoe business elsewhere.

Carlos has done an amazing job of fixing two pairs of boots and one bag for me. He made my boots look like new, polishing and re-​soling them. The quality of his work is really thorough and is on par with cobblers I have worked with in Paris and London. It’s great to have a trusted cobbler which makes investing in quality shoes worth it because they can last for years!

wow, i am shocked. i have had great past experiences with these guys, but scumbag behavior and a visa dispute is happening now.
recently i took a pair of shoes in, and estimate for repair was $ 60 — after signing the credit card form, i said, ‘on second thought, you know, these shoes are not great quality leather, they only cost $ 60 new. i will just replace them.’ carlos said ‘the guy in the back already took the heel off, you have to do the repair now or you will get them back in pieces’ (a lie, btw, he had handed them back fewer than 20 seconds before and i could see them sitting in the back). i said, ‘look, just throw them out, i don’t need them back. but i want to cancel the repair.‘
long story short, he agreed to refund my card. i called today to say i don’t see the refund on my statement, he says ‘i changed my mind. you can’t cancel. we did the repair, you can come pick them up.’ totally unacceptable. guy is straight up unethical. i asked for a refund *minutes* after signing the credit card form, but he thinks it’s okay to take the money and run? seriously? and this is going to help your repeat business how?
carlos, you are good at what you do — i’m sorry you are so hard up for customers that you feel the need to defraud them. i get that sf rents are increasing. however, i won’t be back.

Not satisfied with their service;(they charged me $ 90 to do not too complicated thing… I don’t know how they have 4 stars… I will stop using Unilocal… It’s not as it use to be…

Great service for a reasonable price and a very quick turn around. They even shined my wife’s boots for free!

This shoe repair shop was conveniently on the way to work. And my dress shoes had a problem of being squeaky when walk on hard surfaces (not carpets or rugs). They weren’t able to fix it, as my shoes are still squeaky and they replaced the metal sheet within the shoe, which they said would fix it…
It also cost $ 25 and I guess I can’t complain because its a rare problem and also depends on the quality of the shoe, which I have to admit isn’t that high tier.
In the end, they weren’t able to deliver and that’s what matters.

I had the best experience at Carlos Shoe Repair. First of all I went there to have a pair of boots resoled. I had pretty much destroyed the heel part of a favorite pair of riding boots. When I walked into Carlos’ I was greeted immediately and kindly. I asked about my boots and was told that the heels portion could be replaced for $ 35! I was shocked. I definitely had planned on paying more. He was honest about the cost and the fact that it wasn’t necessary to replace the entire sole of the boots. And his turnaround time was amazing! I dropped my boots off on a Saturday and he had them ready on Wednesday. He even polished them up for me.
I am more than pleased with the outcome and service! I highly recommend Carlos’ Shoe Repair.

Prices seemed reasonable, in my first order with them it cost $ 70 to clean a leather jacket, and $ 125 for work on 4 pairs of boots: re-​heeling 2 pairs, adding a rubber sole to one, and cleaning and re-​conditioning the leather on 3 pairs. Quick two-​day turnaround.
I was happy with all of the work except the re-​heeling. The rubber soles and rubber heel tips they added to my Coach stilettos + Kate Spade + Aldo high-​heel ankle boots are great and stand up to wear and tear even when I pedal my bike with them on.
Just be really careful when asking them to replace the heel on any of your shoes after the heels wear down. Even after replacing with a new rubber heel, they took nett half an inch off the heel of my Enzo Angiolini boots, making them feel strange to wear now and the silhouette less flattering. I guess I needed an excuse to get new black knee boots anyway.
UPDATE: When I brought the Enzo Angiolini boots back to Carlos, he added the half-​inch heel back within 5 minutes for me free of charge so I’m going to increase my rating back to four stars.

I thought I had ruined my leather boots from Spain, but Carlo saved them! Soles and heels were replaced, and the entire toes were refinished. I had worn them away and the leather was frayed. He smoothed it out, perfectly matching the original camel coloring of the leather. I also had a leather handbag tear repaired, and the damage is unnoticeable now. I am very pleased with both items. It wasn’t cheap– $ 75 to repair them– but worth the price.

Carlos is the best for all things shoes and HIGH end shoes. He always does my red bottom rubber soles on my loubs, he fixed a broken strap on my Valentino rockstuds yesterday. He is reasonably priced and he has a stamp card for heel tab replacements– so my next one is free :)

Amazing quality service and time efficient. Took my 3 most valuable boots and he reconditioned them and they look better then ever. The turn around time was also great.

Apart from the location this shop has little going for it. Customer service could definitely use some work. Prices are also more expensive than other shops in the neighborhood.

The wedding-​day shoes that I have determined to wear for my big day were way too high-​heeled, and Carlos Shoe Service was both willing and able to reduce their stilettos to the extent possible, about an inch off of three, when no other cobblers would venture to do so. They did excellent work on white satin at a fair, reasonable price, with a one-​day turn-​around, which was incredibly fast. I couldn’t be more pleased.
This was not the only great experience I have had here: I brought in some high-​end, black stiletto booties, which were made with a fine, real, beige leather sole. Re-​heeling the broken stiletto with fine detail, and re-​soling them, albeit the latter with black, rubber-​like material, have enabled me to continue wearing them for season after season through rain or shine. Excellent service, in this case, proving beautiful, high-​quality shoes are of great, lasting value over time.

My husband got a new pair of kicks, which were rubbing against his achilles tendon. As a lady with bad shoe luck, I knew his pain! Luckily, we were only a block away from Carlos, who fortunately stocks comfort shoe accessories like back-​of-​heel cushions. Quality that’s a step up from Dr. Scholl’s at the pharmacy.
Plus, Carlos sells a large array of shoe polish. Yes, there is apparently more than one shade of brown shoe polish.

Very very bad attitude, very unprofessional. Once they heard we decided not to use their service, the guys completely changed faces and told us to leave immediately. My boyfriend wanted to get his Gucci shoe repaired. We went to the store to get an estimate. It turned out to cost the same as getting it fixed at Gucci store, pretty expensive. Anyways I can’t believe how rude and unprofessional these people are, I am glad we did not choose them.

1 star is way more than he deserves! I took my belt for extra holes and he kind of ruined it. After I asked him why these holes are so different with others he threw it to my face and shout very loud «you don’t need to pay for it» and he basically kicked me out. I was so shocked!
Even if he did his best he did not have the right to treat his customer like that! No one has ever treated me like this before! I just put the money on the counter and left. It was not about paying or not paying the money it was all about his behavior. He was the most aggressive guy I have ever seen. Believe me don’t even try to get close to his shop, you never know what is going to happen to you! I’m so afraid of him.

Wow, super great guy and provides a suburb service.
Brought in an old (vintage) pair of Timberland boots from the 70’s that had seen better days, but was hand made in Italy. He got them back to as good as new, but still left in the vintage patina i loved as well as put in old school soles while still have modern comfort.

On a recent trip out of town, had a bottle of face wash spill all over a gorgeous pair of Spendid suede booties. It left a huge blue-​ish stain on the inside of one shoe and heel of another. I thought they were goners.
By chance, took the shoes to Carlos, hoping for a miracle. He not only cleaned the goo off my shoes, but he waterproofed them and added some extra traction to the bottom to avoid slippage when walking around town (and to keep them lasting longer).
All for $ 48, which is significantly less than a new pair of booties.

You know when you take your shoes off at airport security coming back from a weekend in Portland and realize you’ve worn off the base of your heeled ankle boots completely, leaving them a hollow mess?
