History

Established in 1975.

Carpet Contractors, Inc. was founded in 1975 by Mr. Nicholas Botaitis. Our first office was at 1104 Harrison Street in San Francisco. In 1978 we moved into our 14,000 square foot warehouse at 1821 15^th Street, the largest carpet facility in San Francisco. During the same year we signed a contract with Macy’s department stores to become their sole installer for all the sales they made to the public through 1983. In 1999 after 21 years we moved to our present facility at 3210 Geary Boulevard in San Francisco and opened another location at 404 Talbert Street in Daly City. Around the same time, Demetri N. Botaitis, Nicholas’ son, completed his education in Santa Barbara and formally joined the company. In 2006 we bought our new 25,000 square foot Richmond facility at 3411 Regatta Boulevard. The property is built on 1.2 acres of land, part of Regatta Business Center, making it the largest showroom and warehouse in Northern California.

Carpet Contractors, Inc. has been one of the most difficult jobs I have ever had and it is great. There is always an amazing feeling knowing that the customers you help are entrusting you with making an important decision with the homes and there lives. As a father of a rambunctious, 1 ½ year old baby boy, I understand that time and convenience are a luxury, a luxury that we at Carpet Contractors, Inc, are not only capable of but willing to do our best to accommodate. And when a job is finished, we know that we have given the customer our best, and hold our heads up high with pride. This is why I work here and why we continue to be the best in our business.

We had Carpet Contractors install carpets and vinyl flooring in our 110 yr old house. Demetri came to our house with all the samples and made great recommendations. The selection and ordering process was the simplest thing — and Demetri was flexible to work with our schedule — and had a install date when we wanted it! His team, led by Antonio, was super efficient and did an excellent job. In and out in less than a day, They even removed all the disgusting and worn carpet that was replaced. Even better, Antonio installed the vinyl plank flooring in our kitchen — it’s an amazing product with a professional look. I can’t imagine anyone doing a better job. The house looks great, and the carpet and floors are the main reason!

The Team at Carpet Contractors are one-of-a-kind. During each of our visits, the entire Team was super attentive and very hands-on in helping us with questions (of which we had many) but also was impressively patient with our two toddlers! The no sales pressure approach was much appreciated but also the general vibe of this company was reminiscent of how true salesmanship and client service should be. We ended up working with Jim and he was a fantastic partner throughout. Carpet Contractors is a true gem.

I am opening a new retail store located in the same block as these guys. I stopped in to get a quote on carpet and left with an appointment for installation the next morning. I was impressed with the helpful attitude of the guys with whom we interacted. They are knowledgeable but not pushy and let us make our decisions.
In addition to the floor carpet, we put carpet on our walls. Since we needed to do that part ourselves, they were happy to just sell us the wall coverings and had the pieces cut to the exact size we needed. They even sent us adhesive information so we could get the right product.

great customer service, quick install and wonderful product/quality. there was a bit of a mixup with consultation and install dates, but they made time in their schedule to accommodate me last minute (literally, the next day for the consult and the following for install).
i didn’t even have to go to their brick and mortar — the two sales-gentlemen came to my shop, showed me their commercial carpet options and the decision was made quick and easy, and the install ended up way more affordable than i expected for the level of service, too.
i would highly recommend this locally-owned company and will call them again if i need any carpeting in the future !

My husband and I just bought a new home, with a very quick move-in timeline (8 days from the time we got the keys). We knew that we wanted to carpet the stairs with a runner, and the four bedrooms. Our realtor referred us to Dimitri at Carpet Contractors, and we could not be happier with the results.
I called Dimitri right away to tell him our needs. He advised that I come into the store to view their selection, and had already pulled out appropriate choices in anticipation of my arrival. He came to our home with a whittled down selection of samples the day we got the keys to do measurements and take my order. He promised the installation could happen before our move-in date 8 days later, and he delivered with 2 days to spare.
Then about one week later, we decided our previous home needed new carpet for staging purposes. Measurements and installation happened in 2 days.
The quality is great, the customer service is great and the price is very fair. These guys are experts — I’d hire them again in a heartbeat!

Josh Nagler is what makes Carpet Contractors so great. We just finished installing hardwood floors throughout our house, and we could not be more happy with the final product. Josh was the ONLY person that came over to our house for the initial measurement and assessment that thought long term about the floors we were putting down and how they should be installed. Other installers told us we should use the glue down method (using a glue that would completely block any moisture upwards) on our concrete slab downstairs. This is totally fine (minus the fumes from the glue that would continue to seep through the floors any into our bedrooms), but if you have a lot of moisture breathing through your concrete slab, and all of a sudden you block it from going upwards, you are forcing that water to go somewhere else… like out the side of your house. I was so impressed that Josh was thinking not only short term, but long term about the foundation of our home. SUPER COOL. Not only does he know everything there is to know about hardwood, he is a kind man that truly cares about the work he does, and his number one goal is to make the customer 110% happy with their investment. If you want high quality flooring, high quality installation, and high quality customer service… Josh and Carpet Contractors is the way to go!

Called on Friday to see if they had the kind of carpet we wanted in stock. They said they did. Arrived Saturday morning and they had the sample book out and opened to the exact carpet we wanted, waiting for us. (What, are they psychic?!) They gracefully handled half a dozen other customers while making us feel like we were the only ones, and then agreed to a our ridiculous request that the carpet be installed on Monday. Their guys showed up early, did a fantastic job, and volunteered to help us move the heavy furniture back into the room (even though at the shop we were warned that they didn’t move furniture). As if all this isn’t enough, their price was one third that of the competitor we were planning on using. Wow. Thank you Unilocal for pointing us in the right direction!

They stood out from the rest, they new and suggest what would be the best option for my mothers needs. They completed the job up to my expectations would recommend them to anyone. My condo had some water damage which required the carpeting and hardwood floor to be replaced. I found Carpet Contractors on a list of recommended contractors at my condo. Originally, I hired CC to replace my carpet. I didn’t even think about using them for hardwood floor replacement for the reason their name implied carpets only. Eventually, I used CC to replace the carpet and hardwood floor.
CC was the lower of the two bids for replacing the floor. The quality of the wood was the same for both companies. The CC representative was a gentleman named Josh. He came out and did a thorough review of the job, provide a clear estimate and provide current updates throughout the process.
The carpet contractors did a good job. The arrived on time. Finished the job promptly and did quality work.
The hardwood floor team came on time. They moved the furniture and replace the hardwood floor professionally. The workmen moved the furniture, removed the old floor, installed the new floor and cleaned up afterwards. There were minor issues with the baseboard not being flushed. There were also some gaps between the baseboard and floor. Overall, the job was of good quality.
Both carpet and hardwood contractors left some scuff marks on the wall. I overlooked these minor issues. Of course, it would be nice to have everything perfect, but during hard work, its not easy to notice minor scuff marks.
I would recommend CC for carpeting and hardwood floor, especially hardwood floor.

Hi Fellow Unilocalers,
After almost 35 yrs. of using this Co. I now never will again. I have a 4 story apt. Bldg. that a good quality carpet was installed by CC. Where my tenants go in & out front door is all threads are damages & look horrible. AND these guys r suppose to be professionals NOPE…
I had the boss come out & they wanted to charge me more to fix it. after 13,000.00 $ for this 1 job
You would think they would’ve taken care of this problem NOPE…

I was told he wouldn’t be back for «AWHILE» HHMMMM !!!
To bad .The BOSS also was very demeaning to me when I called
Soooo…8 months later I call for Nick to see if he «has returned.»
I detected a attitude from him from the start. (he didn’t have an attitude when he took pymt. In the amount of $ 13,000.00)
Well … He stated I had” left a pretty bad review on Unilocal.«I said yes & it would «stay there unless my apt. Bldg. Entrance way (where the problem exists) was fixed»
He said I was blackmailing him. OMG !!!
Tell me., to ask a business to FIX their mistake is blackmail? I beg to differ Nick

Needed carpeting and kitchen/bath flooring on a tight schedule. Went to my usual source on a Friday. They were to come out and quote on Monday, No show, no call. Pleaded with them to come out next day. They did and took measurements, but forgot to bring the samples. Price quote to come the next day. Five days later no price quote. Gave up on my usual source. Good bye!
Fast forward to Carpet Contractors. Stopped in their shop on Monday, met with Demetri, son of owner. From my brief description, he knew exactly what I wanted. He came out next morning, took measurements and gave me a price quotation within 20 minutes., which I quickly accepted as it was 20% less for what looked like better products. Arranged for installation that Friday. Follow-up call on Thursday from CC to confirm installation. The two installer crews arrived at the appointed time and did a great installation. It doesn’t get better than this!
I’m not a big Unilocal user or fan, but when I get such great service, I have to make a post.

If you want carpet tacks sticking out go with this company! Best to wait for Home Depot or Lowes (carpet contractors can do quickest measurement/estimate and ring up sale/installation) otherwise you’re paying for low quality carpet installation

My last review said «if this was my first time, I would give them 2 stars instead of 3, since I know they can do better.» Well, they haven’t improved. I’m going down to 2 stars. Installation is still sloppy and damaging. Just found carpet glue on a door jamb, and they scratched up the freshly painted base boards and door frames everywhere. I expect some nicks here and there, but this was exceptional.
They’re all very nice people, and they have competitive pricing, but as a long time customer I expected better.

3 years ago we used Carpet Contractors to supply and install carpet in 5 units ranging in size from 350 s.f. to 3500 s.f. The first thing we noticed was the nails from the tack strips at door ways could be felt through the carpet if you were barefoot. I called Nick, the owner who told me to put a rag over the areas where the nails could be felt and use a hammer to pound them down. This really didn’t work.
Now, 3 years later all 5 units are experiencing «lumps and bumps» in the carpets. Kind of like rolling waves. These lumps are large enough to trip over. I called Nick asking if he could come by and take a look. He had a list of reasons what could be causing this, all my fault. I reminded him that every unit had different people living in them and that the units were spread all over the Bay Area. He refused to take a look but said he would re-stretch the carpets if I were to clear the units out first. I told him I’d like him to take a look before I spent time and money relocating tenants for this work, how could we be sure this would just not happen again? I asked what sort of warrantee he or the carpet manufacturer had for this sort of issue. He said (without looking at the carpet) it was not covered.
Bottom line, he never came out. The cost of clearing all the units was too great especially if I ran the risk of it happening again. They were the least expensive which was important in the middle of a recession, but looking back, I should have spent the extra money and gone with the outfit I’d used for 17 years before with no issues. I’m not sure if it was the carpet or the installation that caused the problem and Nick made it clear he didn’t care either.
You get what you pay for

Did a good job installing a carpet where my, ahem, four legged friend relieved himself.
Installers came at the designated time did a good job and cleaned up.
Why the three stars? I believe they subbed me out for a different color than what I purchased. The carpet I purchased was more tan than cream… cant prove it but I know I aint going crazy.
Remnant selection in the back of their showroom offers some pretty good deals.
Definitely would keep a sample until they finished the install next time.

I called to schedule an appointment and Adrian came just a few hours later. He was quick and polite and gave me a verbal estimate, then followed up shortly with a written estimate by email. I changed my mind about the kind of carpet we wanted, so he sent me a picture by email so I could make sure that’s what I wanted. The next day they arrived to install, and it looked great.
One star less because they didn’t haul away the old carpet (which the painters had removed and put in the garage). Simple miscommunication, but I wish they had called to check. I’d still recommend them, and would use them again.

At Carpet Contractors, when something goes wrong, the customer service absolutely sucks.
Initially, my experience was great. Demetri came out, measured and sent a quote for replacing carpeting in a large room and vinyl in a mudroom and hall. The timeframe was really tight for getting the carpet portion done. I asked a couple of times if the install should be split up. Demetri assured me it could all be done in one morning.
The problems started the day of the install. There was a jumper on the GG bridge, which delayed the install crew (Bryant and his nephew on summer vacation) by an hour. And the install was more complex than Demetri had assumed. The work did not get done in one morning. The carpet got in by 2:30 — Bryant busted his ass to get that done, so these two stars are for him. At 3:30, the crew told me they could not finish the job because there was a 4″ hole in the concrete that needed patching and they needed to float the floors in the mudroom.
When I called Demetri on Monday morning about it, he was incredibly rude and derisive. He didn’t apologize, he just argued with me at length. He even denied that he said the work could be done in one morning (but, you see, it’s in two separate emails… so…um…yea, you did).
In the end, the carpet looks nice. The vinyl is ok, not perfect but I just wanted it finished and done. But I’m still upset about how I was treated by Demetri. If I had it to do over, I would spend my money with people who are nice, like Floorcraft or California Carpets.

After a long time of debating/stressing out about changing our kitchen floors, housemates and I decided to change our floors with Carpet Contractors… and we were FLOORED (haha) by their amazing job and price.
The price was definitely cheaper than anywhere else we could find.
2 guys arrived right on time, and were very courteous. We scheduled the job with Dimitri, I believe he may be the owner… He was really knowledgeable and polite. His recommendations for our floors were spot on, hands down… to the flo! They installed brand new floors and removed all traces of the old icky floor in less than 3 hours.
If you’re even considering getting new floors, I recommend Carpet Contractors, no doubt.
With their affordable price and efficiency, they made it sooo easy for us to dance on our brand spankin new beautiful kitchen floors.
