Buying a home can be one of the most stressful things in life, yet thanks to the efforts of Chris Pessy and HomeStreet Bank, I was able to finance the purchase of my home with no bumps or hiccups.
A really good friend referred me to Chris and I’m really thankful he did. Chris has a very no-​pressure and easy-​going approach, often times being able to take care of matters over text and with quick same-​day calls in addition to emails. Chris also has several contacts covering a wide array of services that were immensely helpful, ranging from people to help with raising your credit to interior decorators. By working with Chris Pessy and HomeStreet Bank, every step of the process was done and all bases covered.
The best part about Chris’ approach is that you feel like your needs take priority. I really appreciated my experience with Chris, and will definitely turn to him for any future financing needs I have!

I’ve worked with Chris on 5 mortgages and he has delivered above and beyond on all of them. They have been complex investment properties, 1031 exchanges, and my primary residence. He is so good I have followed him from bank to bank a few times. When we were up against deadlines he was working very late in the evening and on weekends to make sure escrow didn’t slip a day. Chris knows his business very well.

Chris and I have sat down several times over the past few years to talk mortgages and real estate. He has also done the mortgage for my Mom, my Aunt, and several of my friends. I’ve even referred him to my accountant, and found out later they became fast friends. He’s just a great guy.
He is ultra responsive. (Quick responses to emails I’ve sent him in late night fits of real estate web shopping.) His knowledge of the markets and ability to explain them in simple terms is superb. Also, where many brokers would have their assistant call me, Chris has always been in direct communication. I very much appreciate his ‘hands-​on’ approach. His ability to track all of us (his clients) and all our moving parts is impressive. He should give classes on multitasking.
As I said before, Chris is a stand-​up person. When I first met Chris, I thought maybe all his ‘extra mile’ and friendly demeanor were a show. Maybe a base effort to impress or to to drum up more business, but over the years I’ve learned that’s just who he is. I’ve learned that he actually does care and brings that to each client.

I recently had the pleasure to work with Chris Pessy and his team refinancing our house. The refinance process is one that many people do not want to enter due to the fear of paper work.
Yet, Chris and his team made the process as easy as it could be. He was detailed and personal through the entire process. He never treated us as another job, instead he got to know us and our family in order to craft the best package for us. His team was always available to answer extra questions over email or phone.
I personally recommend Chris for a new home buyer or refinancing as his professionalism and personality stand above the rest.

I contacted Chris by email asking about some details on terms for ARM loans. He first replied 3 days later, after I had already had conversations with other mortgage brokers and lenders and gotten the information I needed. His email:
«I’ve personally funded over $ 1,000,000,000 in mortgage loans, and HomeStreet’s premier portfolio lending platform aims to please. We’ve been in the mortgage business for over 94 years, so „Lending is in our DNA“.

I didn’t reply since in the interim 3 days I had found other providers I was now busy working with, who answered my questions rather than sending boilerplate. Chris then sent me 4 more emails. Then, he found my phone number somehow (I did NOT provide it) and called me several times. This was starting to get uncomfortable, and I asked him nicely not to call me again, and that I would email if I did need his help. He replied in a snarky and rude way, saying that he «hopes I find a broker who doesn’t have follow-​up because they won’t be good at their jobs like he is».
Although I didn’t get to work with Chris for a mortgage, this experience was pretty negative and his attitude was unsettling. I wanted to post to warn others who contact him to set clear boundaries for their interactions with Chris.

As first-​time homebuyers, and therefore first time experiencing the scary world of mortgages, there was a lot to learn about all that is involved in a) qualifying for a loan, b) receiving said loan, c) choosing a type of mortgage, d) what this all means in the fairly cutthroat environment that is Bay Area real estate, and e) how to plan to actually pay off said loan as the years go on.
From the beginning, Chris Pessy was informative and thorough, giving us plenty of great information in terms of our choices. Both he and his team were communicative throughout the whole process (to both us and our real estate agent), allowing us to put together strong offers on homes.
He sent encouraging emails when we didn’t get our first two offers (as is bound to happen), and for our final (successful!) offer, he even got in touch with the selling agent to discuss details, which helped further strengthen our offer.
We’ve since closed on the house and moved in, with a well-​thought-​out plan in place for our new lives as homeowners!
