Manager

Dr. Cindy A. Grijalva was born and raised in Southern California. She attended her undergraduate at UC Los Angeles and earned her medical degree from UC San Francisco. While in medical school, she also obtained a Masters in Public Health from UC Berkeley. She completed her residency at Stanford University in 1998 and was selected administrative chief resident.

Dr. Grijalva joined Pacific Gynecology and Obstetrics Medical Group (PGOMG) in 1998. She enjoys her practice of high-​risk obstetrics, gynecology, fertility and well woman care. She especially enjoys seeing patients even before they try to become pregnant (pre-​conceptional care) to try to optimize their fertility and have healthy pregnancies. She considers it a great joy and privilege to be able to work with women as they start to create and expand their families. She is also happy to be able to have excellent, long-​term relationships with her patients based on dialogue, respect, and empowering education.

I was given a new birth control in January and I was supposed to receive a call following up a couple months later and nothing. When my pharmacy asked for a refill, I got one — just one. What am I supposed to do for the months after? As with most doctors, business hours are the hours I work and I have no time to be calling while I’m working let alone paying a visit. I feel that Dr. Grivalja did not look out for my best interest. She had me do unnecessary blood work and use the in house lab which resulted in a bill of more than $ 1000. The consultation alone was $ 250 and all we did was talk before I went to do the blood work.

Dr. Grijalva and her staff were always very professional and knowledgeable. I’d rather wait a few minutes for a great doctor than get treated right away by a worthless one.
Unilocal is full of garbage reviews written by people who simply want to complain over frivolous matters. You should probably not be using a service like this to choose your doctor anyway.

Easily the worst doctor I have ever had– which was upsetting because it was the most important reason I have ever gone to the doctor! Where to begin:
— I gave a rating one star over the minimum because there was one person at the office who I saw that was awesome, Rhonda, who is a nurse or medical assistant I met with frequently.
— Cindy is «nice» when she decides to make an appearance but totally unreliable — often wildly late (once I waited for 3 hours with my husband before one of the DMV style ghetto losers at the front decided to share with me that she was delivering a baby even though I asked a few times what was going on) and she canceled my appointments last minute on two occasions to take vacations.
— She forgot to give me the results that I am Rh negative which can be harmful and potentially deadly to your baby if not treated.
— Last, but not least, she gave me the WRONG medication for a UTI which had me suffering with a very bad infection for a week before my hero Rhonda informed me of the mix up. Then Cindy said that sometimes the medicine does not work– which was a bold faced lie– she prescribed the wrong medication, must not have realized that Rhonda told me the truth earlier.
— I was SO relieved when she was not able to deliver my baby, who knows what would have gone wrong!

Nice and friendly. Always smiled and sincerely tried to connect with me. However, her lack of professionalism and reliability out-​weighed it all. Always late and frequent cancellations. Didn’t deliver my baby nor had any follow-​up contact soon after delivery. Just sent me a bill that exceeded the estimated costs, which I had the option of pre-​paying. What kind of Dr. does that!!! Also, very rough on her exams. I always bled, felt mild pain, and felt violated. Her office staff was cold, barely made eye contact as they wanted to check me in or schedule the next appointment ASAP so I would get out of their face. I am pregnant again, but would never go back.

The care I received from Dr Grijalva was very lacking. There was absolutely no follow up. Even when I called to request results — nothing. Very very underwhelmed. I would say go about anywhere else.

Cindy was a very special doctor, during my pregnancy and after she was an amazing doctor and a friend. She gave birth to my precious daughter, Cindy will always be in our hearts.

So I went in today expecting a horrible long wait, I filled out the paperwork and only waited 5−10minutes then i got called into her office where she spoke to me about my history and she was very thorough and nice. I then waited another 10minutes in the examination room. Dr. Grijalva was informative on everything she was doing to me and personable. I dind’t have any problems at all with her, it was a pleasant visit.

I have been seeing Dr. Grijalva for almost 10 years. I recently gave birth to my 3rd child, and I can’t begin to explain how grateful I am for Dr. G’s prenatal care for all 3 of my pregnancies. She is very thorough, and takes the time to answer any questions you may have regarding your new baby. Her assistant Rhonda is also very sweet and helpful! Yes, there have been times where I’ve had to wait a bit longer for my appointment, but that comes with the territory since the Drs might be on call that day, someone might go into labor, etc, etc. The only downfall is that whoever your Dr is in this particular group, they might not be the one delivering your baby when you actually go into labor. Again, it depends on who’s on call. Regardless, I am so thankful that Dr. Grijalva took care of all of my babies. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for an OB/​GYN.

She was NEVER ON TIME!!! I had to wait for 45 mins. to an 1.5 our for her. Once I asked what was the problem and why she was late and she told me that there was a line at the Post office while she was filing her taxes… I find it outrageous and very disrespectful. She could have called and told the staff to let me reschedule the appointment or something like that. At least inform me that she is running late, that never happened.
I really think that Unilocal is not a good source for finding doctors. if you want a good doctor rely on the referrals from friends, colleagues or other doctors that are competent.
The practice is not that great either. The nurses were very nice and the appointment scheduling people were nice too. But if you’re pregnant they never tell you the results of the urine test, which is very important and is done at every appointment when pregnant.
As a result of her carelessness and ALWAYS BEING late I felt frustrated all the time but helpless about it. If you think about changing the doctor JUST DO IT!!!
DON“T GO TO HER IF YOU’RE PREGNANT!!!

**** DEADBEAT DOCTOR*****
I did a lot of research to find a decent OB to have throughout my pregnancy. Boy was I wrong! She was ALWAYS late. I am a working professional, so waiting 45 minutes to an Hour and a Half is not alright, especially when you are going in every week. Then, once you get into her room, you wait for another 15 to 30 minutes. I don’t care if you are a working professional or not– who has time to wait around like this?! She didn’t seem concerned about being late and either did the lazy staff– not to mention her horrible assistant Olga.
The worst part about this whole situation is that i didn’t see Dr. Grijalva for my delivery or any of th FIVE days after that I was in the hospital for. Not even a simple call. There was always someone else to fill in for her. To top things off, i had to come in to see her a week after I had left the hospital and to my dismay she didn’t even show up. It was horrible Olga I had to deal with. She didn’t even congratulate me on my baby or take one look at her. She also decided to take a lunch break right when I got there so I had to wait around another extra hour for her. That was the last straw for me!
If you have endless time that you’d like to waste then this is your place!
There are so many better doctors out there. No one should go thru what I did!

Never on time, ever. However, I was ok with that because she was late since she was dealing with another patient. I thought that meant that if I had any kind of issue or complication she would spend that time with me too. Wrong.
By the time I had my appt with her, usually after sitting in the waiting room for at least 1.5 hours after my appt time, she rushed me. I did not feel like she took the time to make me feel comfortable with the things happening in my pregnancy.
Plus, the staff in the office always acted like I was inconveniencing them by asking a question. I felt like no one cared about me or my baby at this office.
I transferred to CPMC St. Lukes Campus and am much happier.

You may never get to see her…
I wish we could have given a better rating, since Dr. Grijalva came highly recommended. However our experience was that she was generally overbooked and we were rescheduled for all appointments we arranged. When we were cancelled from our appointments, we only had the option of going to Olga Hidchenko, NP, with whom we had a very unsatisfactory experience (see our review).
If she is that busy, I truly wish her office staff would have acknowledged her lack of availability, and stopped allowing her to accept new patients.
The first time we even heard her voice was a phone call during the second trimester, as a voicemail followup to a complication.
We never felt safe in the care of her office, since she was never available.

I usually wait about 3 years in between my doctor visit, just because I love them so much…:) But it’s a new year, new me and hopefully a new baby will soon be in our life… so I knew I had to take charge and make my appointment. So I called Dr. Grijalva’s office and told them of my future plans and they said I needed to come in for prenatal counseling and my pap. WHaaat? but I’m not preggars yet… Well okay I thought… lets do this, lets take charge! .so I called my mommy and told her to come with me:) Dr. Grijlva was able to see me 10 minutes BEFORE my appointment and the counseling was great! she answers any questions, gives you all kinds of info from diet to — how to breathe during birth! What a great way to start my new journey! and during my pap we talk about traveling, my job and my friends. I felt like she was really trying to get to know me! and boom it was over!
I’m looking forward to having her be my doctor as I partake in my most exciting year!

It’s a total drag having to go to see a gyno, but Dr. Grijalva makes the visit quick and pleasant.
She actually has time to sit with you and answer questions– which my last doctor, always seemed 45 minutes late and too busy for me. I can even call her office and I always get a call back.
She’s the best and makes you feel completely comfortable during your visit. Check her out if you are looking for an awesome doctor!
