Citibank credit cards and the company STAY AWAY from! I had a horrible experience with getting incorrect information! When employees give incorrect info and then the company doesnt stand behind it… RED FLAG and waste of time!!!

I forgot to pay my credit card and they were on me all the time as if I was a criminal on the run. I did it on purpose not paying when they first called me, because according to my statement, I would have until the following month on the due date to pay the past due amount. Ridiculous.

The high turnover of banking staff at this branch should be a tip that the employees don’t even want to work here.
The staff are rude and incompetent and don’t care about your banking needs. They should just put up a sign by the front door that says they don’t care, want you to call the automated number on your card or go somewhere else to get your banking issues fixed.

I’ve always had the best experiences here. The district manager is such an amazing woman that would make sure the branch provided exceptional service.
Unfortunately, it seems like the branch is under new management. The last few times I’ve gone in, I’ve gotten a clerk that was unhelpful, if not downright mean.
I came in concerned about some charges that I didn’t recognize. She not only was unhelpful and unsympathetic (I mean, if you saw that your account went down a few Gs, you’d be a bit concerned). She outright LAUGHED at me, saying that this is normal and I worry too much.
Honestly, the only good thing about this branch anymore is that it’s located close to my office. My, how things have changed.

We had the worst home buying experience with this branch. From the beginning to the signing date there were significant screw ups.
When we began we verbally gave all our information for the initial approval, we then received our pre-​approval based on this information, and a lot of it was wrong. For example, the loan officer wrote us down as married, we weren’t. Various details about sources of income were ignored. So we wrote down all the discrepancies and explained that those items needed to be corrected. Hey, things happen right?
They said they would be taken care of, great! Then Citi sent us a new copy of the same thing… 5 times+. Sometimes some information would get corrected, sometimes it would bounce back. It’s as if they were editing old files and were disorganized.
Throughout the process, we wrote letters explaining certain areas of income (part time teaching, stock sales, espp sales, freelance, etc). We asked various times if they needed bank statements, etc, and they told us not to worry about it. (Which at the time we thought was weird.)
We also kept asking if they needed anything else, what other information was necessary, they said not to worry.
I ended up needing to work overseas for 3 months, no word from Citi, we would check in, they said everything is well. I came back the week of signing to finalize everything, and they totally screwed a ton of things up.
It’s like they did everything last minute, two days before signing, they were asking for a lot of banking information that we had asked them if they needed. Statements, written documents, etc. It basically felt like they didn’t actually look or read any of the information we had been asked to give in the past. I was literally doing my home walk through, ignoring the builder’s notes on taking care of my new home because I was frantically looking for banking information on my phone to mail them.
Then because of these delays and processing, we had to miss signing! Citi made us late.
So the builder for the home we were moving into, allowed us to move in early… without anything finalized, and I was leaving again for another 2 months and only had 1 week to sign and move.
We move into this new place, that we don’t own, and are hoping everything goes through okay. Super nerve wrecking right? If not we have to pay the builder $ 100/​day and move out asap. Easy to do when you’re out of the country!
So three days late for the signing, I show up at the Escrow office to go over the paperwork, and there it is, still wrong! Married. Sources of income, incorrect.
Dates, wrong, addresses, messed up.
We want to pay taxes with our loan, nope! We’re paying it out of pocket.
Luckily the Escrow agent was able to override that information and still have it approved (she was amazing), and we put the paperwork through. Somehow it worked out, we got our keys, we have had our home for two years.
But even now, every time I see that Citi statement, I think of the immense level of incompetence, and how my experience with them made the housing crisis in 08 make complete sense.
I still have to pay the taxes out of pocket, which is a major pain.
All this because this one dude there failed to be proactive, failed to look at our information, failed to correct that information, failed to listen to us, failed failed failed.
The loan officer even had the balls to write us a few months ago about re-​financing our 3.49% loan. REALLY? Dude you gave us the rate and rates are higher today, do you even know your customers? What are you doing?

In a world where we interact with computers more than people, hate other people who share our city rather than enjoy their presence– this branch is a breathe of fresh air. Feels personable, like I’m back in Michigan. I always look forward to seeing these tellers.

I’ve always had a really good experience at this branch. A few months ago I was notified via email & message on my online Citibank account that my account was one of many that had been potentially exposed to identity theft at a self checkout grocery lane I frequent and to call the 800 number for more information. I did and was advised that to protect me they were going to need to cancel my current bank card number and reissue one. Because I was going to be stuck in SF during a possible Bart strike the phone person suggested they suspend my account for 24 hours so I could go into a branch and have them issue a temporary bank card. I did and went into this branch as it is the easiest for me to get to.
I was in and out in 10 minutes with my new temporary card. Every time I have come into this branch I am in and out within 10 minutes flat. The tellers are friendly and so are the loan officers. For my needs (regular checking account and attached savings) Citibank has been fantastic. Alerting me of fraud several times before I knew it had happened and tonight when I checked my balance online and noticed charges in Florida (that were not mine, alas I’ve never been to the Sunshine State) a quick call connected me to the fraud department and it was handled quickly. They’re even overnighting me my new bank card because it isn’t easy for me to get to a branch and pull out cash during business hours (my work hours coincide). Thanks Citibank, and this branch for being fantastic.

HORRIBLE! Can’t get a straight story out them regarding a Home Equity Line of Credit. Worst customer service! I’ve been told numerous differing reasons after months of inquiries and never once have I been provided information on who to speak too other than no one is available. No one calls you back — you simply can’t get a straight answer. Apparently, they do not have supervisors because I’ve asked to speak them as well. The branch on Battery St. couldn’t help me at all with information regarding my HE line even though it is where I got it! Completely unbelieveable

When I first started using this branch I was delighted by the friendliness of the staff. I then used them to refinance my house. Nine months after I gave them all my paperwork I’m still waiting for a closing date. The only time I get updates are when I ask, and the bank has often asked me to provide documents I already provided.
I’ve been a faithful Citibank customer for years, but I am very disappointed with their service.

Fast & courteous service

while general banking services vary only by your personal relationship with your banker, whether if your male and white, and can dress well and communicate patiently with corporate drones. these «personal skills can result in some latitude of service. I doubt Citi is any different than Wells Fargo in screwing minorities, women, & people of color with higher fees and higher interest rates.
What disappoints me is after 20+ years of being a classic, gold, and platinum card holder and earning over a million points through citi on American airlines when i actually want to use their cardholder service, they weasel out on technical definitions. It’s a sad education that goes along with their reckless banking behavior; (honestly gambling) and then come to the government (us) for a 45 Billion dollar handout and they still have over 52 trillion dollars in derivatives which shows they have learned nothing from the past and have no interest in serving humanity. Only damming humanity’s future gambling in a losing game for the passing addictive rush of a corporate addict.
This is a classic example of why corporations are not humans, nor deserve any tax shelters or protection from the market exposure they choose, knowing they have bribed the politicians in Washington to bail them out regardless of their «lack of morality» as their «buddy» Obama put it, as the financial sector overtook pharmaceutical companies last election cycle as the largest political doners, I mean purchasers of political protection money. The banking industry is one of the most direct dangers to global democracy and as a republic, we actually choose to whore ourselves out to the bankers, rather than maintain a government bank as called for and designed in our constitution.
The best banking experience of my 35 years is constantly with credit unions who understand that they are not banks and don’t involve themselves with the same goals of global destruction as banks, and are structured to actually serve rather than steel from their customers. And when your willing to jump through their hoops just like any other financial institution, they may be honest with you about what and why they do what they do. And they don’t gamble in the derivative market, unlike banks.. . Thank heaven for Credit Unions and that SF has so many great options for those of us that don’t mind getting paid to put our money in a responsible parties hands, as opposed to being charged for the privilege.
I’d say Citibank, Chase and Chevron are among the worst corporate «citizens» on the planet not mentioning private security companies (legal hit men, mercenaries for hire, which undermine our military and subvert the constitution) I’m glad all i had was a credit card with them. Now that i can leave anytime, I’ll take my credit business to my credit union, not with any expectations of service or coverage, but simply to do with them what i did when i stopped doing business with ATT, stopped giving money to organizations that actively work hard every day to destroy whats left of the natural world in the name of «profit».
Nuff said.

Citi Bank unable to stop their own phone calls and harassing me daily. I was in Disneyland in July when I mistakenly used my Citi card. I did not know Citi Bank and lowered my credit limit and so that last charge at the Magic Kingdom put me over my new lower credit limit.. From that day, forward Citi Bank launched a campaign of having a computer call my home every morning insisting I call them. I did call them and paid the $ 200.00 so I would not be over my credit limit. Since then, I have called and spoken with them several times. It’s almost October and I am still receiving those morning phone calls. Citi Bank staff tell me that they tried to stop the calls, but apparently, this company has no control over its own computerized customer harassment system. Be for warned. This is a stressor a good and honest customer does not need.

I started going to this branch after a pain in the ass incident on Battery. The teller, S, is awesome. Best bank teller ever. Seriously. I’m going to move my personal account here too.

Every time I come here, it’s always dead quiet and I’m usually the only person doing a transaction! I like it! I can get in and out rather quickly!

Quiet and fast. Friendly tellers. That’s what all banks should be about. Perhaps, they are calm here because it doesn’t have a lot of foot traffic. Either way, I love this branch because I can get in and out rather quickly.
And for those who care, they usually don’t run out of the Chinese calendar and red envelopes even though they are steps away from Chinatown. I was very late in getting mine and still got it even though two branches in Chinatown told me they didn’t have anymore left. As Wendy H ( Unilocaler) stated in her review, you don’t need to fight the grannies and grandpas at this branch.

7. Staff is fairly knowledgeable about products, very financial/​investment based compared to other branches
I also wanted to point out that the staff cares about their customers here. For instance, they aren’t my primary bank, but I do keep an account here. they were concerned and noticed that I didn’t have a Saving’s Account with them and proceeded to spend a few minutes talking to me about planning, the future, etc. Then I told them that they aren’t my primary bank and they almost sighed a relief. =) I’ve never had a bank teller try to talk to me in depth like that.

These peeps have always been helpful to me. I didn’t open my accounts at this branch (online, I moved too much), but they’re always helpful about them and pretty knowledgeable if I have questions. Don’t have to do much but make deposits and withdrawals, and as far as I can tell, they definitely have a handle on that.

Really, I don’t care about friendly tellers or what not. I prefer the people to pay attention to my account and do the job correctly without any problems from my end.
This bank serves its purpose. No long lines (like Post St or California St branches) and when you renew a CD, they do it for you right away. Not like California Street, where they take down your name and tell you they’ll take care of it (uh, how do I know you’ll do that? I really hate to double check!).
Plus this is the spot where you can score Chinese calendars (for new year) and red envelopes (for the lunar new year). They always have a good supply and you don’t have to fight the Chinatown grandmas and grandpas for it!

I’m not feeling the Citi love at this location (ok, I’ve never actually felt Citi love, but still…). It feels like it’s located in a mall. And the «International Money Center» desk neither exchanges international currency nor is a true «center», go figure. But it is fast… rarely a line.
