Man, I waited for TWO YEARS to write this review, because Timothy is sweet, and the facials were great (I had two)… BUT, the very first procedure that I had done here was a chemical peel, and that’s where things didn’t go so well at all.
I’ve had microderabrasions before, and I know that my skin is very sensitive. I communicated this all to Thimothy. He suggested a pretty intense chemical peel, which was actually quite nice (although took longer to peel and heal than he anticipated), AND (this is the reason for the low review) — it left two spots of slightly darker skin pigmentation under the outer corners of my lower lip, each spot about a nickel in diameter. It doesn’t look like I have birthmarks, but my skin looks patchy.
I kept hoping that these spots would go away, but even years later they are still visible. I am very unhappy about it.
Recently I scheduled a series of microdermabrasions with my aesthetician on the Peninsula, hoping that this will reduce the color difference. If not, I will look into laser treatments.
Needless to say, all of this is not what I wanted from a procedure that was supposed to rejuvenate my skin.

Kaoutaur is still amazing. I hadn’t had a facial in MONTHS but after an extended trip to China my poor skin was begging for some TLC. She did an amazing job as always and she’s just lovely to chat up.

Kaoutar deserves all the stars in the world! She spent the whole hour talking about my skincare on what would and wouldn’t work. You can tell she really knows her stuff and is very invested in making sure you’re happy with where you want to be in your skincare needs. I got the first time client Signature Facial, and Kaoutar explained each step thoroughly, gave me the most gentle extraction I’ve ever experienced, and just made sure I was comfortable the whole time. She also wrote down a couple products from Amazon that she recommended buying, which I really appreciated! Would definitely recommend you giving their first time client special a try, I can’t imagine that you’ll be disappointed for the price. Also, about the reviews on here for their customer service – their online booking system was being a little funky for me, so I called and left a voicemail. Kaoutar called back within 15 min to verify my same-​day appointment. Knew right then it was gonna be a good experience :)

Second glowing review just because this place deserves it! I’ve now been seeing Kaoutar for several months and I am absolutely thrilled that my skin has become so much better. Her customized and tailored peels, the total focus and attention and her recommendations on a great skin care regimen have been a lifesaver. She makes it her personal goal to make sure my skin is amazing. She is wonderful to talk to, very positive and very passionate about taking great care of her clients. She won’t compromise my skin and is simply great. I can’t believe I didn’t start seeing her right away when I first came to this place. And I want her to be here for a long long time as I won’t go anywhere else. Thank you Kaoutar!

I’ve been going to see Kaoutar for skin care for almost 2 years now. I’ve never been to a finer esthetician. She’s meticulous. The facials and peels have never been painful. Her prices are very reasonable. The best part is she’s helped me look years younger than my age!

I have been waiting for an appointment with Rosa for almost one month only to find out that she is now not working there? What kind of customer service is that? I followed Rosa from her previous job to Complexion Skincare because of her sheer knowledge of skin, warmth in taking care of her customers and her tremendous customer service. When I found out where she is moving to I will have to follow as this place will NOT be the same without her lovely smile and warm heart.
Sorry Complexion Skincare Clinic you lost another person.

I’m a little confused. First, Rosa is a wonderful person and the ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ facial was nice. I used a Gilt voucher, which noted that the full value of my facial was supposed to be $ 150 and the website (which I checked today said the ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ facial was $ 150), but upon checking out with Rosa, she said the full value was $ 180. $ 180?! I get facials fairly regularly and don’t think I’ve ever paid that much… even for the best facial I’ve ever had. I left a 20% tip on $ 150 since that’s what both the website and my voucher said. I’m sorry, but you should update your systems if that is truly the case. Yikes.
Between the sneaky price change and the extremely difficult time I had reaching anyone here and booking an appointment, I’m not sure if I’ll be back, even though I did really enjoy talking to Rosa.

Rosa is the bomb diggity. I will never go to another esthetician ever again! I first got a coupon deal for 3 facials, and after looking at her skin, I asked what her secret was. Chemical peels! So I decided to go ahead and do two layers. It worked miracles on my acne scars and sunspots. As a 27 year old, I really should be taking care of my skin. Rosa’s skin is even better than mine and I swear I thought she was young 30s… Ask her what she does to her face!
After my first chemical peel, I saw huge changes to my acne scars. I don’t really have much acne, but the scars lasted quite some time, so the chemical erased all of them in a week. I’m hooked and do a facial + 2 layer chemical peels every month now!
I don’t trust anyone with my skin other than Rosa. She’s A QUEEN!

Very disappointed that they no longer offer any late afternoon or evening appointments. I started coming here back in late January after purchasing a 3 facial deal off of Gilt City. Tim was so nice and offered the first time facial at $ 50 and would extend the cutoff date of my «first of three» facials from the Gilt voucher. After seeing him 2 times, he was no longer available and I saw Ever once… who is now gone. I called over a month ago to see about getting an evening appointment and no one ever called me back. It’s a sad sign when half of the staff leaves a business, and those still there cannot return calls to existing clients. Guess I’ll be shopping for a new spot soon — bummer because I really liked Tim.

With Timothy gone, there is no reason to go here. No one answers the phone, ever. Emailing gets no response, and if you do, the response is curt and very rude. I had a package I bought with Tim so I continued to go, since I had already spent the money. Rosa convinced me to get a peel with her once my package was done, so I planned my whole day around the appointment. She really didn’t give much of any information on the treatment, so I tried calling for a few days prior but no one ever answered to clarify. I get in today and since she had never told me that I couldn’t use retinol for two weeks prior, exercise or any of the after treatment care, I couldn’t do the treatment today. Big bummer. What happened next was unbelievable though.
I’ve never been in a situation where I was more scared of someone in customer service yelling at me and actually coming at me. This woman did little to nothing to curtail her extreme anger and aggression towards me. I will never go here again. I felt scared and confused at the time, and now I am just astonished. She was blaming me for wasting 30 minutes of her day, not at all apologizing for not properly consulting with me, and wasting part of my day. I had to pull teeth to get information on the procedure so I could know what to expect if I booked again as she glared at me across the desk and did her best to control her voice enough to speak to me while intermixing constant digs at me.
No customer should ever have to endure being treated like this. I hope this business either drastically changes or shuts its doors, as no one should be put in this position again by the staff at Complexion Skincare Clinic.

My daughter and I both have had facials at Complexion with Rosa and are thrilled with the results. She is thorough but gentle and clearly explains what she is doing along the way. She follows your lead on how much conversation you want to have and is a great lady. My teenage daughter trusts her completely and they have a great rapport. Rosa is adept at both acne treatments and basic facials. The environment is clean and simple.
The only negative is the fact that there is no office manager on site so if you want to speak with someone there you are out of luck. And I have had some challenges at times with the online appointment planner. But I have found the facials with Rosa to be well worth the occasional inconvenience. Rosa is the reason I give it 5-​stars! I highly recommend her, as does my daughter!

I hate writing a bad review when I didn’t even try their services… but I scheduled an eyelash extension appointment way in advance for a special occasion and 1^st — they charged me the full amount when I booked so I had to call to get that refunded (it was a livingsocial deal so pre-​paid). I also knew it was a bad sign when no one gave me an appointment reminder. Alas, I showed up and they were closed.
Do you know how hard it is to find parking in the Marina?! I want my $ 3 in metered parking back too.

I’ve only ever worked with Kaoutar and once recently with Rosa, so I can’t speak for any other staff, but these two ladies are AWESOME. The space is small but clean. They are super friendly, and they make me feel really comfortable and happy to be there, even when they are doing extractions. I totally trust their judgment and never feel like I’m being pushed to buy anything extra.
The ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ facial/​peel makes my face feel super light and smooth, but I do tend to breakout on my chin after for some reason. Summertime sadness.
Easy to book online, though they get pretty darn busy so book way in advance!

Where did this place learn its customer service skills– I bought a groupon based on such great reviews about this place but it failed miserably to return my calls, emails, carrier pigeons and so forth. After a horrible time in trying to put in the code and the information in their online appointment system I decided to make the trek to schedule an appointment at their clinic. Needless to say they were off to lunch, who goes to lunch at 4:00 and doesn’t leave a sign of when they will be back? I had to go into the dentist office next to them and fill out a note asking them to call me back which they didn’t. By then I thoroughly frustrasted and decided to call groupon to get my money (and sanity) back. It was so infuriating because I really wanted to try this place out– too bad I’ll never get the chance.

2015 resolution: treat myself… and so I did.
And I’m so glad I chose Kaoutar for my first ever facial/​peel. Peels are not for the faint the heart or wallet, so given the chance to snag one at a deal, I threw caution to the wind! (I don’t know if that’s always a good idea — you’re face is a pretty big deal to be throwing around frivolously. But trust me on this one.)
So to give you a rundown —
You get tucked into a super comfortable cocoon-​like bed. I could have fallen asleep in seconds, if not for the great conversation we were having. What was really interesting about the experience was how comfortable and relaxed Kaoutar makes you feel during the sting-​y, uncomfortable moments of the treatment. She always took the time to explain what was happening and what was coming up next. She is so knowledgeable about skin and keeps you updated throughout the treatment, which is something I have never found in an aesthetician or doctor.
Immediately after the first peel, I started seeing results, and over the next 2 weeks, my skin became baby soft and the fine lines began to disappear. I’ve seen remarkable results, and honestly, I just feel really lucky for finding my beauty guru on the first try. I wouldn’t trust anyone else with my skin!
I have since gone to see her again for a deeper peel, and recovery has been short and very manageable. I’m so excited to see improvements in the next few weeks. I’ll follow up with updates!

I had a wonderful facial with Kat today. Her salon is lovely.
Calm, warm and inviting. The table was warm and so comfortable.
Their Intake Form asks important questions about current
products I use, and my concerns and areas of interest regarding
my skin and its care. Kat recommended products for everything
I talked about and there was never any ‘pushing’ to buy anything they sell. If anyway, she was sorry that they were out of a certain product she wanted to give me a sample of to take with me so I could try it first to see if I’d like it and that it worked for my skin.
The facial itself was very relaxing and my skin looked wonderful; it was thoroughly clean, felt refreshed, and glowed. The products Kat used were gentle and worked well for my skin type.
Kat herself is very friendly and knows what she’s doing. Most importantly I felt that she genuinely cared about me, that my skin got the best care possible, and that I left satisfied.
I certainly recommend trying Complexion Skincare and they offer a Unilocal deal.

Came here twice. Had a voucher for the ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ peel facial.
they talked me into just paying for a peel, which would be ideal for my dry skin,. which was fine. The day after my face looked great but for 3 weeks I continued to peel and it was very noticeable and ugly. Didn’t notice a change much after that. I really liked the guy who did this first peel though, very attentive and helpful! (tim maybe?)
I booked another apt a month or two out to use my voucher for the ⁵⁰⁄₅₀. I then got a VM that it needed to be cancelled. However when I went to go book it was almost complete booked through the end of the voucher date (5 weeks later) and had to schedule a time to during work which was unfortunate.
Now the worst part, came back on May 15^th
I had a new guy doing the facial. I got ready in the room then waited for about 20 min in there — it was a hot day too. so was scorching under the blanket. It was then a very quick facial .
I feel like he might have started on a another customer during the middile of the apt, as he disappeared for another 25 min while it was all soaking in and while NPR was blasting in the room. If it was music or anything but NPR aggressively trying to get everyone to contribute money, it might have been ok. I know it was 25 min because that was how long it was till the time to contribute money ended and he came back in after it was a new show. Then wiped it off and I left. All in all I was touched for maybe 15 min, waited for a total of 45min…
I would have never paid $ 150 for that service and likely wont be back. Two stars instead of 1 because Tim was so nice and helpful.

I don’t think that 20 min is enough time for facial and peel.
Also, I asked to pay more attention to some areas and got just few squeezes, lasting for ONE minute (i’m not exaggerating!!!)
Plus, I didn’t expect that Ever is a male name, my bad ((((Wanted a female stuff.

I’ve been here twice, so two separate reviews below:
Eyelash extensions with Kaoutar — I bought a Lifebooker deal for extensions, very cheap ($ 49) for extensions so I was really nervous. Complexion Skin Care is hidden on Union st, next to a dental office. It’s very clean inside. Kaoutar is amazing, I would actually just go back here for her. Very gentle, talks to you to know exactly what you’re looking for, and does a great job. Lashes are supposed to last only 3 – 4 weeks, I’m on week 5, and they still look like a natural full set. It is a little hard to get an appointment for extensions, though Kaoutar was very flexible. I think they cater to non 9−5ers.
Signature Facial with Timothy — I was having issues with my skin, thanks to the hot hot weather that we’re dealing with now, so I scheduled a facial. Timothy was able to take me in the same week, which is amazing! Timothy heard my issues well, he did talk about products for a while, but didn’t push anything too much. In fact, one of the products he recommended was at Whole Foods, not even at their salon. He honestly completely got my skin back to normal, in one quick sitting.
Definitely going back here. Plus they have a lot of deals.
