Relocating from NYC to San Francisco, referrals led me to Dr. Conant. Having high check bones, I’ve had Scuptura twice for fuller cheeks and have been very pleased by the procedure and results.

I’m writing this review after seeing Dr. Conant today, the 14^th of February, 2012.
I went to see Dr. Conant about a month ago, for a consultation, for Sculptra dermal-​filler injections. The consult went well. He was very professional and attentive. We discussed pricing and I was very happy to learn that his practice charged less than most other facial aesthetic centers here in San Francisco.
I am a 47 year old caucasian male. I lead a very athletic life and happen to spend a fair amount of time in front of a camera as well, working as a part-​time model. As superficial as it is to say, my looks are very important to me and though I don’t mind aging, I want to do it gracefully. — I’ve noticed that as I’ve aged, my face has lost symmetry. Fat loss has occurred more on one side than the other, wrinkles appear deeper on one side, etc. — My goal with having Sculptra injections was to fill in some of the fat loss in certain areas of my face, as well attempt to balance out the differences in the two sides. I have had filler work done previously, but that was many years ago, and the truth is that I was a little unsure of Dr. Conant’s skill with the needle. — Granted he has a very good reputation as a World-​Class dermatologist, but that experience is irrelevant when it comes to what is required to inject fillers properly and accurately.
The appointment went very well. Dr. Conant was on time [he did not keep me waiting at all.] He was courteous, professional and friendly. He talked me through the process perfectly. — For those who have never had injections into their face, I would be lying to say that there is no pain. There is, but it’s really, really mild. Nothing to stress over at all. On a 1 – 10 scale, I’d put the pain at a 1 or 2 at the very worst. It’s really a cake walk. He uses lidocaine to numb the areas before injecting and that helps a lot. He did not over-​fill my face during the procedure. He was conservative in his approach, and consulted me during the procedure regarding whether or not I wanted more. I did ask for more in certain areas of my face, and he injected accordingly. He is, as they say, ‘very good with the needle.‘
Following the procedure he instructed me on the after-​care process. I asked many questions and he was open to answering all of them, and did so without hesitation. He made me feel confident that he stands by his work, by telling me to feel free to contact him any time, should I have any questions or concerns about my face in the coming days or weeks.
Before I went in, I had a ‘perfect scenario’ in my mind, of what I would look like when I was finished. The truth is, that as of today, I feel like I achieved 99% of what I set out to. We’re all our own worst critic, but even I have to say, that I think I look pretty darned good. But the proof is in the pudding… So…
I’m giving him 4 stars here, for now. Why? Well because it’s day one, and there is some minor swelling, which is to be expected following injections with dermal-​fillers. That said, I will be following up this review in a week or two, to raise the review to 5 stars, if the result looks on par with how it looks now. I have a strong feeling that it will.
I would definitely recommend Dr. Conant for Sculptra filler work.

I’ve seen Dr Conant several times for various skin issues over the past two years. Each time I found him very personable, professional and thorough. He always asks «Now what questions do you have that I can answer for you?» which to me means he educates not just provides a diagnosis and a prescription. I never have to wait long to get an appointment, and never feel rushed during my visit.

Can’t say enough good about Dr. Conant.
I’m new (ish) to the area and had not established a primary care physician in the area, so when I broke out in a rash that started spreading like wildfire across my body, I was in trouble. I live in Oakland and tried to get an appointment at a bunch of different clinics in the east bay, but no luck. I would have had to have been a patient already to get an appt within relatively short order…
I had several nurse and doctor friends look at my rash, but no one could identify my problem… It just kept getting worse and worse. I was ready to go to the emergency room, when my roommate told me about Dr. Conant. I called his office that afternoon, explained the situation, and they gave me an appointment the very next morning! The person on the phone was super friendly and didn’t make me feel weird when I described my mysterious rash. Despite the fact that the doctor’s schedule was full, they fit me in early (before hours) the very next day so I could still make it to work.
I was nervous to see a man, but Dr. Conant was incredibly kind, gentle, and friendly. Within about a minute, Dr. Conant informed me that I had a terribly bad case of poison oak. Just poison oak! I was so relieved…
Even though it only took him a few moments to diagnose my problem, I didn’t feel rushed over. Dr. Conant made sure I felt comfortable with the medication he prescribed me, gave me lots of info and advice about the medications, since I had to go on pretty heavy-​duty steroids, and even checked all my moles before I headed out. Dr. Conant is fabulous and I would highly, highly recommend him.

I have seen Dr. Conant once and will never see him again.
I had a very sensitive cyst on my back that terribly hurts when touched upon. I needed that cyst removed. I proceeded with Dr. Conant and his assistant. After mentioning that the area was ‘very sensitive’, he still manage to poke me with the anesthetics too close apparently, because a surreal ‘jumping’ on my part happened. I don’t recommend it to anyone: having a needle in your back and having to ‘jump’ of pain in the process is an awful experience!
Anyways once he manage to extract the cyst, he did not manage to retract all of it that one time, which now leaves me to go see another surgeon.
I don’t deny that Dr. Conant has been practicing for over 40 years (perhaps too old?) and his experience is beyond most dermatologists out there, but regarding a simple anesthesia, he was revealed to be worse than a beginner.
A no go for me.
