History

Established in 1980.

Southern California was home to Dr. Duncan until graduation from high school; he then departed for San Luis Obispo, where he majored in biological sciences at Cal Poly. His career as a highly successful Oral Surgeon began when he entered the School of Dentistry at the University of the Pacific in San Francisco. After receiving his DDS degree, he performed a one year general practice residency at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Topeka Kansas, before moving back to Southern California and beginning his residency in Oral and Maxillofacial surgery. Upon completion of his requirements at Long Beach V.A. and U.C. Irvine Medical Centers, Dr. Duncan journeyed back to San Francisco, where he established his oral surgery practice on July 1, 1980 in the West Portal district.

Dr. Eric Scharf grew up in Southern California where he graduated from the University of California San Diego, with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology. He received his DDS degree after attending The University of Southern California Dental School, and met his future wife, Dr. Aynechi. While in dental school, he was a recipient of the Health Professions Scholarship from the United States Air Force. Dr. Scharf and his wife moved to Minneapolis after dental school to begin his residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Minnesota. After completion of his residency, Dr. Scharf and his wife moved to San Antonio where he was on staff at Wilford Hall Medical center training oral surgery residents in the United States Air Force. Dr. Scharf and his family returned to California after his time in the Air Force and joined Dr. Duncan in his oral surgery practice.
