I wondered into this place when I was exploring San Fransisco. Has a hipster vibe and the drinks are good. I highly recommend the perfect storm.

Came early on a Saturday night as one of my «Best Burgers In The Mission» stops. The place wasn’t yet crowded but was slowly building up during my stay. I really liked it being low-​key since I was going there for food.
My husband and I were greeted immediately by the server who sat us at a huge booth. The food menu is small (but it is a bar), with a brunch portion that’s served 10−3PM and burgers and friend chicken after that.
We ordered Jameson and PBR for $ 8 each and the beef burger with waffle fries for $ 15 ($ 12 for main food and $ 3 for cheese — a little pricey for a bar burger).
The food came out in a reasonable time and everything was cooked fine. The burger was good and fresh, but could’ve used a little more seasoning for flavor. I wouldn’t put it at the top of my burger list but the WAFFLE FRIES are something to talk about! Crispy and hot with ketchup and ranch, delicious. Service was great.
There are a few game machines, modern jukebox, and a foosball table near the door. The place felt spacious and bustling but again, not overwhelming and packed. All the furniture is old wood and the bar area is quite large. Felt like a comfy, casual place to hang out, grab a bite or drink, though I found the prices to be a tad high for food.

The hamburger I had here was undercooked and I am now feeling very ill. I wouldn’t go here for food.

was here for drinks and bartender makes a mean negroni. martini glasses are a tad small, so he gives you the extra too. nice touch! their bar food looked amazing but we did not partake. would come back for their amazing looking fries and wings!

Great spot to hang out and drink but I would not recommend the food (which friends told me is great). Nothing was appealing on the menu (they offer a veggie burger that isn’t housemade if that’s any indication) so I got the 3-​piece fried chicken. It was flavorless and served with ranch (yikes).

Incredibly rude and unprofessional!!! Reserved the back room for 25 for our work party and when we called to confirm a couple hours before time of event they told us we could no longer come and that our reservation was cancelled. No heads up or anything, they never reached out — we would have just showed up if not for calling first.
Won’t be getting our business anytime soon.

I’ve been here for drinks a couple of times and thought this place was average. Good joint if you’re looking for something low-​key.

We were looking for a divey place in the mission that serves food and drinks and stumbled upon this place. It was quite crowded and loud on a Saturday night. It looks like several groups were having parties of various sorts. I got the Perfect Storm, which was quite good. It was decently strong and not too sweet, which is the way I like my drinks. The food was mediocre– lots of fried food options and pretty typical. The first bite of fried chicken tasted great but it went kinda downhill from there. There’s a decent amount of seating so even though it was crowded, we were able to get a booth eventually.
Oh also I didn’t see any pinball machines or pool tables but they do have that hunting shooting arcade game up front.

They messed up and got rid of all the good food last month. Finally figured out that brunch should start at 10am and not 11. The best on their menu was Mission Hash and Sriracha Chicken Sandwich — both gone now. Lately the place is dead — good if you’re desperate to find a place to sit in the Mission.
Bartenders and waitresses are awesome. The food though! We’re going to miss it and probably won’t be going back.

Brunch: The website almost makes it seem like a fancier place than the dive bar that it is. I generally try not to have any expectations about a place going it, but I was slightly surprised that all service was conducted by the sole bartender.
At first we sat at a table by ourselves, but realized that the bar was the best place to get the quickest service. And our mimosa glasses were hardly ever empty. Hooray! Unfortunately, the bartender seemed a bit overwhelmed and unable to keep some items stocked, like the coffee. I had coffee earlier, so I wasn’t itching for it, but I do believe that, if you’re serving brunch, you *gotta* have coffee. (And maybe even a boozy coffee menu? That’d be nice!)
The food was delicious. The servings weren’t huge but they weren’t too small either. I had the Guatemalan Breakfast and was delighted that the ingredients tasted fresh and specially prepared. My guy had Chicken & Waffles, and… yum! I just expected regular waffles with syrup, but he got some waffles made with special batter — with hints of vanilla, perhaps. His only complaint was that it was half of a waffle from a waffle iron. «Who ate the other half?» he kept asking, hahaha.
The chicken had a very crispy crust — bread crumbs as opposed to batter — and the chicken was tender and juicy. There is a chance they fry em in the same oil as fish because there was a slight Long John Silver taste to it.
Oh, did I Mention the «syrup»? This had some serious molasses yumminess to it that really made me happy. :)
Next time I’ll try the steak and poached egg sandwich. I saw it come out and it looks exactly like my kind of breakfast.

Just finished an amazing brunch. I had the Sriacha Chicken Sandwich that was just the right amount of spicy. The waffle fries were off the hook good. My wife had the Mission Hash that she called phenomenal! Great homemade lemonade. We will be back.

It’s a space to meet friends for drinks.
But it’s loud, full of tech startup people, and get your food/​drinks at the bar.
It is fun!

Please please please bring back your deviled eggs! But I highly recommend the papas fritas.
I’ve only stopped by after work so its been much more low key than a weekend, however this place is super rad and over all one of my favorite bars to keep in my back pocket.
Be advised if you aren’t walking catching a ride, the neighborhood surrounding the bar is a little sketch. I’ve seen a few peoples cars get broken into so be advised.

Great go-​to divey-​type place for drinks or a quick bite — I usually like to get the papas fritas since they’re easy finger food and easy to share. The drink selection seems kind of limited, but that’s never really bothered me since it’s not like I’m expecting some special, hard-​to-​find beer or anything. I mainly like to go here because it’s convenient — it’s close to my work, but it’s also easy to get to by transit. It’s usually busy when I go on weekdays, but I don’t usually have trouble finding a seat at the bar or a table. Despite the busy-​ness, the staff is still attentive most of the time. Also, I don’t know if this is a recent thing, but I just noticed that they serve brunch here too! I do think I’ll stop by sometime to check that out ;)

This is an interesting place. I say place because I don’t know what it really is. It’s not so much a bar, not really a restaurant… it’s confusing because you can choose to sit at the tables and a server will come by to take your order but this place doesn’t look like a restaurant… it looks like a bar. Maybe I’m not making sense right now but I’d like to attribute it to the general confusion this place elicits.
I can’t say anything about the actual food because I didn’t order any but my friends seemed to like their food. They even offer Vegan Sliders and Gluten Free Tacos, so I guess that’s a plus for some people. Unfortunately, it took us about an hour to get the food because apparently there was an issue with printing the ticket for the cooks. I will say, however, that our server was very nice and tried her best to attend to our big group, coming back to check if we wanted more drinks or water. I would come back here to try the food.

I pass this place every once in awhile so I decided to come here with my friend. It’s kinda confusing when you walk in if you haven’t been to Dear Mom before. There’s a bar in the center of the room and I think most people just come here for a drink, but there is an option to be seated if you approach a waitress and say that you want to eat something.
The menu is disorganized and doesn’t make sense. It looks like someone just threw everything onto a piece of paper. It’s not in order of price or separated into appetizers and entrees. Nevertheless, we ordered the Papa Fritas and Buffalo Burger. YUM the Papa Fritas ($ 8) are cut potatoes with cotija cheese, chile, tapatio aioli, green onion, cilantro, and lime. The tapatio aioli makes this dish AMAZING. I already know I’m going to have specific cravings for this later. The Sriracha Buffalo Chicken Sandwich ($ 12) has lettuce, onions, tapatío aioli, and scallion sour cream… served with waffle fries. The waffles fries are okay but I love the sufficiently spicy buffalo chicken. So tasty! Good place to lowkey come in and just get some upscale bar food and a beer… granted they don’t run out of the beer on tap like what happened to me.

First, who told you that Jameson & PBR should be paired? I think the Jameson family and the Ricard folks would be appalled. Second, why do you have PBR on the blackboard like it’s champagne? PBR is worse than Coors & Miller combined. Yes, I just said that.
My gin & tonic was more akin to diluted rubbing alcohol sprayed with lime perfume. Just downright awful.
The atmosphere reminded me of the bars near UCSB and Pepperdine. What the sign should really say, is Dear Mom, please send more money so I can party it up at the bar with watered down drinks.
No thanks, I think I’ll stick with Señor Casanova.

I like straight forward establishments like this. «This is what we have and do. Like it or don’t» is in the air. Grab a beer and have a seat.
They have a large and worldly beer selection and the staff is knowledgeable.
However, according to the internet they have a large Connect 4 game (nerd alert!) They do not any longer I’m sad to report.

I came here because i heard the food was good. i didn’t know what to expect when i decided to try this place, but upon walking in, it reminded me of every bar in mission — very hipster and grungy.
Upon writing this review, i decided to urban dictionary the word grungy; because the word itself sounds dirty, but i wanted a more accurate description of Dear Mom. As UD puts it — not just dirty. Army boot dirty. Men’s room floor dirty.
I guess i wouldn’t say this bar was «men’s room floor dirty», but it definitely gave off that vibe.
When we sat down at the bar, the servers were a little slow — ignored my friend and I for some time even though I was staring right at him. We finally got his attention and ordered 2 beers, their potatoes, kale taco (i dont know why, it sounded and was too healthy for bar food) and their chicken bao.
the best thing was probably the bao. everything else was just ok. they gave a generous cereal bowl sized of the potatoes, which i thought was nice if i wanted to gain 10 pounds.
Would come back for drinks, but not food.
