Delish Deli

I recently moved nearby and was craving bagels one Saturday morning so I decided to check this place out. Overall I wasn’t entirely impressed…
I think they recently decided they were no longer going to sell sandwiches and just sell sandwiches because all of the menu signs were covered up. They had a handwritten sign saying what bagels they offered but was incredibly hard to read. I opted for two jalapeño bagels, toasted, with cream cheese. While it didn’t seem busy inside, the service was slow. While the bagels hit the spot because I was hungry, I would say they are decent at best.

Amazing bagels. Especially the Philz bagel. Perfect combination of cucumbers, tomatoes& olive oil with cream cheese

It’s a shame this place is attached to the Philz next door… I don’t know if they’re associated, but Philz could do a lot better.
It’s always dirty. The sandwiches are greasy and just okay-​tasting. The staff is usually grumpy/​aloof/​messing around.

First time here and I tried the Mediterranean. All around not great… Their payment system is on an iPad, so when my cashier/​server spun the iPad towards to me sign/​collect a tip, I noticed that the tip suggestions STARTED at 25%. Yes, I realize there is an option to do any desired amount, but this is so obnoxious just on principle. Didn’t help that the cashier was peeking over the iPad to see what I was tipping. Really rubbed me the wrong way — won’t be tipping 1.50 for a cr*ppy bagel, sorry. Won’t be back.

Just popped in for a quick breakfast. Turns out they have more options than I thought!
All out of cheese bagels this morning though, man.
Currently waiting for my sandwich. I’m sure it’ll be enough morning fuel!

Wow how the mighty have fallen… I’ve been back a few times since my initial visit (which earned 5-​stars). And since my first visit, they don’t seem to carry dutch crunch any more. Or it’s «out» every time I go. Plus the wait for a sandwich is just too long. And quality is shot to hell now. I won’t be coming back.

I’m scared to write this review as I LOVE Philz which shares some common space. But Delish next door to Philz SUCKS! It smells like homeless ppl, bathrooms & tables are never clean. The staff is always just doing their own thing listening to music on top of the music that is playing, having loud conversations & act like they don’t even work there. Not sure if Philz manages this space but hope they can get it back to the clean, inviting place it used to be.

We come here a lot and use the order ahead app. Never have any complaints. It’s a no frills atmosphere but their food is good and inexpensive. The staff is nice and they are punctual. How can I complain?

Go to Delish. Put in an order for the Deloxious on a poppy seed bagel, then while they are making it, go get a Turkish with cream + mint leaf from the Philz side. When your coffee is done the bagel at Delish will be just about ready to go. The high quality smoked salmon, the fresh tomato, the intense capers, the creamy cream cheese, and the tasty warm bagel… good god. It’s the perfect compliment to the insane coffee on the Philz side.
I do this once a week because my office isn’t far away. I haven’t tried their other stuff because this is damn near perfect for a weekday breakfast. I’ve tried other places nearby with similar menu items and they just don’t come close .
The staff are nice. They take plastic at the register. The place is clean. The food is great.

Usually, San Francisco has great food, great ingredients, and great service wherever you go. Unfortunately, Delish Deli was an exception.
The sandwiches were mostly bread and were not very good. Slow service, bad food, and few options. I’d pay extra to get delivery from some place else.

Ordered a bagel with toppings on the OrderAhead app. Never had any problems before with the app. When I was ready to chop down, it was missing olive oil, tomatoes, cucumbers. Brought it up to the guy and he said his screen only showed I wanted avocado on the bagel. I had to show him the receipt on my phone to show I wasn’t making it up. He had an attitude and begrudgingly fixed it while mumbling his discontent. How hard is it to work at a bagel/​sandwich shop? If there is a mix up, just explain to me there are problems with the app order and fix it for the customer. There is a lack of customer service here.

My fav so far is the pesto chicken sandwich. It’s my usual go to. The tall girl that makes it every time is a joy as well!

OK, I was actually looking forward to trying this place out. Since it seemed to be part of Philz, it shouldn’t be too bad right? Wrong!
First of all, the place was formerly an overflow seating area for Philz customers before the GG location opened up. Décor is sparse, but what little there was in there was a display of a photography students «work». The workers here were not so jolly for a Friday afternoon.
Ordered up a Boss with dutch crunch. Bam! $ 9.75. OK, this better be Delish. IMO, its the bread that makes the sandwich. Its easy to cover up mediocre meats with good bread, but it’s hard to put together a good sandwich with bad bread. My dutch crunch tasted like it was a week old. You know the taste of old stale bread right? It crumbles when you bite into it, unlike the chewy texture of fresh rolls.
On this Friday, the bread should have been thrown out or made into bread pudding. With good bread, this sandwich would have gotten 3 stars. The price was just outta control for a take out joint. The Greek place near Twitterville charges under $ 8 for a much much better sandwich.
Yes, it was probably just a bad day for them, but for me I’d probably pass on this place as the city is littered with great sandwich joints. This place, unfortunately is not one of them.

On a Friday morning the day after Christmas, we had a wait for 2 hrs for lunch. So in the meantime, we walked over the Philz to grab a cup of coffee and why not a bagel as well?
So Delish Deli is not a part of Philz, but it’s right next door in the Philz lounge area. They offer fresh bagels and bagel sandwiches.
We ordered the Golden Gate Bagel and the Philz Bagel to share among 3. My favorite was the Philz Bagel which was a bagel with cream cheese, tomatoes, cucumbers, sea salt, fresh pepper, and olive oil for $ 3.75. The Golden Gate bagel was your typical breakfast bagel with egg, cheese, and sausage for $ 5.75 (somewhere around there). The golden gate bagel was meh, honestly it tasted like an egg mcmuffin you could get for a buck at mcdz. We got both of them on the jalapeño bagel which was delicious, toasted to perfection with little bites of jalapeño with a small kick. Yumms.
The bagels were good, but a little on the pricey end. And they’re aren’t very speedy either. Maybe our order just took longer to make?
And they do accept credit cards.
I’ll probably only be back if I get philz and need some breakfast to go with it.

There used to be a bagel stand inside Philz. It was great. The guy with the long hair made the best bagel sandwiches (wish I could remember his name).
Now I have to go to Delish next door. I’ve had mediocre experiences there since they’ve opened, but this was such a negative experience, I wish I could give minus stars.
First, there was a hair in my bagel sandwich (only saw because I ordered ahead for 2 different bagels and had to look inside to see which was mine and which was for the boyfriend).
Quietly asked for a remake.
They were mildly rude or standoffish, seemed like only 1 person of the 2 employees was working (the one with more arm hair I’m guessing).
They started remaking it, but midway I said I’d just take the bagel wherever they were in the process and head home and make my own sandwich out of it.
So they wrapped it up.
Got home. It had probably a full teaspoon of pepper on the bagel. I mean wayyyyy too much pepper. Like 90% of the inner surface of the bagel was pepper. Had to throw it away entirely and resort to a bowl of cereal.
So I don’t know if he was mad he had to remake it or just bad at making bagel sandwiches. I do know I won’t be back.

I couldn’t believe I had encountered this kind of service… I ordered a tuna sandwich (nothing special, out of the ordinary requested… pretty much the basic tuna) and the server FORGOT to make my sandwich. Not only that, I had to remind the cashier person about my order. IT TOOK OVER 30 MINUTES FOR THE WHOLE WAIT
What really bothered me was that they didn’t even have a long line of customers and they were just talking bs behind the counter as I waited. They also did not compensate me for the wait and the server’s response was «oh…sorry» and handed the sandwich over to me as if my money didn’t matter
Being a business owner, I saw this as a ridiculous, poor performance in their business practices. I am only hoping that this Unilocal review will knock some sense unto the workers

Their menu overhead is weirdly out-​of-​date and there are options on there they don’t offer anymore. The de-​lox sandwich is good, but it’s not what’s scripted on the menu. It has lox, though, so, that’s always delicious.
Average bagels. Good service. Good for lox.

The food has not arrived yet and that is precisely the problem. Came by at 8:30 AM and the place is severely understaffed, with one guy taking orders, making sandwiches, and processing payment. Wanted a quick bagel on the way to work and over 20 min later has not arrived yet.
Would not recommend to anyone looking for quick to-​go food.

Great new gem in the financial/​Filmore. The deli meats are Boar’s Head which is my favorite! Fresh and crispy sandwiches. Also amazing bagels!
I recommend the grilled chicken panini. To die for! Friendly service and very clean amenities. The workers use gloves which is ALWAYS a plus (considering the germaphobe that I am) It’s a classic deli that uses high quality ingredients. I go to USF and this is my go-​to lunch spot. Must try!

Ok it was delish. Not bad. But it wasn’t super deliciousness.
Although there’s tables and chairs, it’s almost always crowded in here. I’ve walked by so many times and it’s usually packed with people on their laptops.
I needed a quick lunch and Delish was actually empty so I popped in.
I went with the Italian Made on Dutch crunch because Dutch crunch is the only bread a sandwich should be made with (unless it’s a panini or pb&j).
WAAAAY TOO MUCH OLIVE SPREAD.
Yo! Ease up on the tapenade!!! That ish is über salty!!! I only got ¼ through my sandwich before I couldn’t take it anymore, I had to deconstruct and take that crap off. Look at my photos. That lump of chopped of olives is only from ¼ of my sandwich!
I only ate half for lunch. And although I only ate ¼ of my sandwich WITH the olive spread on, I was extremely bloated from all that sodium. Even my FEET were swollen. I downed 33 oz of coconut water too! Good lord!
I am at the airport now and just ate the other half SANS OLIVE SPREAD and it was much better. Decent.
