Terrible, I’m not surprised they closed. They sold me the IPL treatment for over 2K and never offered the anesthetizing cream until the last visit. What a difference! They were able to turn the machine up quite a bit making the treatment so much more effective. This was never offered for the other four visits, why not? When I told the person that offered it to me, she said she would speak with the owner to see if they could give me at least one IPL treatment at no charge. Never heard from anyone.
Very unprofessional and certainly not an effective treatment as I wasn’t able to tolerate it at higher levels without the anesthetizing cream. VERY unhappy with this place. Don’t know if they opened somewhere else with another name, but run, run far. Go to REVIV MED SPA in Millbrae instead, the doctor there is amazing.

The 1 star is only because the place closed without notifying their customers. I thought this place was stable, what the heck happened?! Has anyone had any success finding the owner or getting the money from their unused gift cards back??? Like many others, I too have $ 75 dollars credit to spend on services and well I guess I won’t be getting that facial I wanted anytime soon…
I always thought this place was worth the visit and I had become a regular over the years.,
For what is is worth, Julie was my esthetician at their Church Street location. She is wonderful, super nice and left my skin radiant. Damn I need a facial by Julie right now!

The District attorney is willing to contact Dermalounge on consumers behalf in an attempt to mediate reimbursement for pre paid services. Please fill out the form and return it as soon as possible to the DA. The more forms filled out and received the better outcome for everyone being reimbursed for pre-​paids owed to consumers from Dermalounge. Fill out regardless, even if you no longer have receipts. Write the service and amount on books.

I, too, was unhappily surprised to find it closed when i showed up for an appt today — all the supplies are still inside the Church St location. -?? Crazy. Was there a health code violation? Why does it say ‘suspended’ not ‘out of business’? But the Burlingame location is emptied out? Those who were sold gift certificates or packages not long before the sudden closure may want to consider filing a complaint with. the BBB? the police?
Seems like them selling up to the last minute qualifies as a scam or fraud… it can’t be legal.

If I could give this place 0 stars, I totally would as of today… .
To start, Dermalounge abruptly closed it’s doors on October 5^th, 2013 without any warning to clients and short notice to their employees little to no explanation. Here is the link to the Noe Valley Bulletin…
I set up a facial with my favorite Esthetician about 2 weeks ago, I did wonder why I hadn’t received a reminder call but I went in anyway because I was badly due for my facial. I read a sign on the locked door that said, «Dermalounge has suspended operations as of October 5, 2013. Thank you for your support over the years.» Than there was a note with the name and number of the building manager. I called that number with no call back. The Noe Valley Bulletin tried as well with no success. The customer service at this place was always a hit or miss. Some days I’d get great service and other times it was just god awful with rudeness. I always came back to my Esthetician because she did such a great job at helping me get my skin to where it is now.
Makes you think about why they closed up so suddenly and without telling clients or employees in a timely manner. I will never go back to a Dermalounge again should they reopen in the future because of this.

I think this place is no longer in business. Anyone know how we can get refunded for prepaid services or gift cards?

Kelli at Demalounge reached out to me regarding my recent review. She apologized for how I was treated, recognized I’ve been a long time client and offered an incentive to give them a second chance…& I think I will! It’s nice to see businesses care about their customer service, admit their mistakes without pointing fingers and understand customers have a voice.
I will update my review upon my next visit to the Dermalounge.

I’m sad to say that the costumer service and the services themselves have gone WAY down, as in, I will never go there again.
1) They did not/​have not call me when a product arrived even after I was on a list. I was expected to call in, I guess. I showed up and bought the product, if I hadn’t I wouldn’t have gotten it since they ordered very little.
2) They keep trying to sell you stuff at the end of treatments. Please don’t ruin a good feeling with an annoying sales pitch especially when I have said no before and demonstrate a lack of interest or annoyance.
3)After a few issues, the final line was drawn when I was chemically burned on either side of my mouth. Scabs formed, and I had work with clients and go to a training with peeling scabs on my face-​yuck. The esthetician offered a healing appointment. I appreciated this especially with my wedding not far away. I rushed from worked, called ahead, and upon my arrival the appointment (or some appointment) had been booked for months ahead?!? I had already been, literally, burned, now I had been majorly inconvenienced again. I know this was a major error on the front desk’s behalf. I left a message for a call from the manager and I emailed as well. NO ANSWER /​NO CALL. I got an appointment reminder a few weeks ago for the appointment they messed up on. I think I deserve a refund but how can I get one when I can’t get a hold of the manager?

Julie was awesome! I was nervous about getting the chemical peel but she made me feel comfortable and I love my results. She also gave me samples to take home and try. My cousin recently tried her and loved the experience as well. :)

I’ve had a microderm and a facial here. Although the technician was nice enough, both treatments were so-​so or below average and definitely not worth the insane prices that they charge. I guess they can take advantage of the trophy wives that live in the area. Also, they won’t give you prices over the phone. Seriously??? I think it’s criminal that I have to make an appointment before I can find out how much I have to pay for a treatment.

Awesome experience. Not much to say except that it was super clean, super relaxing, super awesome. Got a peel there before my wedding day. No regrets. You should go.

Nice location and welcoming, serene aesthetic décor. Better yet I appreciated the free Venus Freeze demo… it actually does seem that this technique would be helpful for my skin“fluffing”…

I went to Dermalounge a few years ago and was so scarred (both literally and figuratively) by my experience I wasn’t ready to even think about writing a review until now.
I was so hopeful to have clean looking smooth skin after getting laser hair removal treatments here. I paid the money upfront for the package deal ($ 1600 at that time) to get enough laser treatments to eliminate my very course, very dark black hair. Linda was the clinician who handled the laser. She explained to me what to expect and I felt like she knew what she was talking about. The first treatment went fine. Hurt like hell, but beauty takes some pain to maintain. I didn’t know it would take this much though. The second session was fine as well. It was my third session that wounded me! Linda burned my skin trying to remove the hair! My skin blistered all over, and so I returned in distress to show her what had happened. She was very apologetic, but how does that help? She gave me some balm and said she must have turned the laser up too high! I couldn’t bring myself to go back. They did not refund me my money, even after calling the manager and discussing the situation.
If you’re considering laser hair removal don’t go here. It may be safer to go to a place where there are better trained, more knowledgable technicians, and perhaps a doctor in house for better, more thorough assessment and care of your skin.
Dermalounge is $ 1600 richer. All I have to show for my treatment is scarred skin, and an empty wallet. Hair is still there. ;(

OK I had a conversation yesterday with Megan the technician who did my facial. The conversation was awkward and I felt sorry for her because I had the feeling her manager made her call me.
Turns out that even if you schedule a consultation at Dermalounge, the receptionist books you an appointment for what the receptionist thinks the customer wants. So the «consultation» is never really a consultation.
During the conversation, no apology was given, no offer to make things right was extended. I think that the manager of the establishment just used my time to do her work for her. I can’t think of any other reason for calling an unhappy customer and then not trying to make her happy.
Fortunately, since I am a manager by profession, I gave a little coaching — «hey if someone schedules a consutation, maybe you should be giving them an actual consultation and not just going off of the receptionist notes» Maybe someone out there will benefit from my help :)

I got a SpaFinder giftcard for my birthday so I decided there was no better opportunity than to treat myself to an eyebrow wax at Dermalounge. My stylist highly recommended Dermalounge to me awhile back for their eyebrow waxing and really modern and clean space.
I had an appointment with Julie, who was really sweet and personable. She spent about 25 – 30 minutes waxing and reshaping my eyebrows and she did an amazing job! She explained to me how to maintain and shape my eyebrows in between waxes and also gave recommendations on products to enhance my brows. Definitely a 5 STAR experience all around!
Dermalounge offers 15% off services for first time customers so the eye brow wax ran me about $ 30. The only reason Dermalounge isn’t getting 5 STARS is because they could not take my SpaFinder giftcard causing me to pay out of pocket. Not too big of a deal but I was annoyed that I couldn’t use my giftcard. I’m not sure if it’s an issue with SpaFinder or with Dermalounge but nevertheless, the receptionist was very apologetic and she suggested that I come back in for a facial so that I could use the full giftcard amount.
Despite the issue with payment, I would definitely come back to Dermalounge. It’s a very relaxing space and Julie is amazing! If you are looking for a new esthetician, don’t hesitate to see her!

I absolutely love Dermalounge! Staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. I’ve had a total of 6 facials and other treatments done, as well as bought facial products. I’m very pleased with the results I’ve gotten in a short period of 7 months.
The interior setup is also very relaxing and just so beautiful. Tea, water, apples, almonds, dark chocolates, dried cranberries are always offered to you when you step inside. The receptionist is quick with setting up appointments, answering questions about anything, and she always talks to me (and other clients) as if she’s been friends with me for years. I love this! It’s totally friendly and comfortable.
During my facials, I’ve had the best treatments. The aestheticians are amazing. I’ve gone through a few of them, but not because I didn’t think they didn’t do a good job. I found one that fit my personality better and I see her every time. Overall, the aestheticians are knowledgeable, and make me feel like a star every time I go in. Best experience I’ve had overall.
The only thing that bums me out is that they’re pretty expensive. However, they do have specials every month and you get 15% off your first visit. Other places around the city and bay offer these same facials for cheaper. I guess, you get what you pay for.

Casey is my favorite skin therapist here. I saw Megan last time but saw Casey this time and there was a noticeable difference. Casey is meticulous and her demeanor professional and soothing. I had two chemical peels here and Casey made a painful experience very tolerable. I would trust Casey with my life. She’s amazing. Thanks Casey!

How unfortunate! I first started going here over five years ago. The first two women burned me — literally! I was getting a brow wax and I ended up with full on burns. Anyway, after speaking with the manager I went back again! Fast forward five years, Meghan and Cassie are awesome! I had an appointment tonite @ 7:30 pm and well at 7pm I get a call saying I was late and that because of my history they hard to charge me! «My history», I ask? Her response, «yes, on May 27^th, 2010 you didn’t show for an appointment». When I tried to reason with the woman calling me I got nothing but lip service.
Does anyone have any recommendations for waxing services in the Noe area?

I booked my waxing appointment and confirmed that bringing a 6 week old plus stroller would be fine. Turns out this was wrong information and rather than refuse to serve me or let it slide, I got lectured a number of times. Including that I need to get a babysitter before my next visit to Dermalounge… any new mom will tell you that that’s pretty snotty. I made a hasty escape to the door… no reason to endure a waxing session with Chairman Mao.
2 stars for the other girls I spoke with there who seemed really nice… shame I didn’t get one of them.
I called Tracy in Potrero who fit me in straight away and when I asked about strollers, said «sure! bring him in».
