There’s always something magical about going into a liquor store especially like this one that has gazillion selections of hard liquors! It is one of a few times you will ever get to see my «almond shape eyes» become«globular and full of fire» …Oooh!!! I think in my previous life I was a born again alcoholic, stampeding every Tuesday at some AA meeting somewhere and kneeling my way at some confession every Sunday for the sake of confessing — only to do drink all over again on a Monday for the rest of that week! Discount Club Liquors caries a good selection of «cigs» especially imports too for those with«sophisticated» taste. A «cig» socially with a «power liquor can be beneficial. Funny, I don’t own booze or cigs in my place, but when it comes to going to friends house, how ironic that I am requested to bring the basket full of goodies. So Discount Club Liquors, take notes that you got me hooked. I will probably be back more times than not since my «BFFs» lives in this neighborhood! Sigh!!! PS — the staff here especially the nice woman at the counter — so sweet! Always a pleasant experience.

This place has a pretty amazing selection of wine, which I wasn’t expecting from a place called«Discount Club». They’ve got some higher end stuff and some older things, so that was definitely a standout for me. Their stuff is reasonably priced, and they had some special discounts posted, but for the most part, you’ll find cheaper booze at a chain store like Safeway if you’ve got a Safeway card. I would say prices were pretty close to Safeway’s if you don’t have a discount card(as in, Safeway’s «regular» price). Sadly, that’s pretty much always going to be true. However, you can’t beat the wine selection, and I would definitely come here if I needed to bring something to a classy dinner party. They also have a nicer selection of some classy liquors than Safeway does. I didn’t see much of the cheapest stuff(i.e. Vitali) but they had the higher end stuff in multiple bottle sizes, going much smaller than most stores(think flask sized). This would be a good place to go if you’re looking to start buying some nicer liquor but have no idea what things taste like(maybe because you’re like me, and you’ve been in college drinking the cheapest vodka you can find). You can get the really small bottles of nice stuff for under 10 bucks. Which would also make great gifts :)

This is a great little store in Bernal Heights that sells quality Beer and Liquor. They have a huge selection of specialty craft beers, so when I want to try something new or get something a little different I stop in. On this particular day I purchased a few different 22 oz or 750ml size beers for a in-home tasting and consumption of some fine beer. After trying the La Chouffe Belgian Seasonal at Christmas, I wanted to try the regular La Chouffe Belgian Pale Ale. It’s quite the beer, smooth yet strong at 8.00% APV. After drinking it, I was convinced that Gnomes made it and Mrs. Claus was a former Belgian Beer Maid. Next up were the Ninkasi Total Domination Ale, 6.70% APV and Bear Republic Racer 5 — the good ol’ favorite hoppy IPA at 7.00% APV. It’s fun to go out for a beer every now and then, but it’s also fun to find something new to take home and enjoy!

I have to say that this place is in fact… reliable. I stopped in here the other day for some smokes cuz i happened to be in the neighborhood, and they had what i was looking for! Reliable! The guy at the counter asked me if i was just visiting the neighborhood because I didn’t look familiar, and he knows all the regulars. Neat. Also, they have some pretty random stuff. I cant remember the last American store i saw sell Kinder Chocolate, but i do know i love it, and if i ever need it ill come here. They also sold, and I bought, Energy Gum. Its made by Jolt Cola and the packaging says it contains caffeine, and every two pieces = 1 cup of coffee! Sweet! Now I can kick this coffee habit buy just drinking gum in the morning.

This is my local corner store and it’s great, they know me by name, they know everybody in the neighborhood, they get anything you want. I wanted High Life so they started stocking it. Although one thing is the prices change depending on who is working, or maybe the one guy just likes me better, somtimes my smokes are $ 5 and somtimes $ 4.75. Anyways it’s clean, they have good selection of liquor, and a pretty good slection of beer, I’ve never actually bought groceries there so I don’t know about that, but if your in the neighborhood stop by and say hi to Sam.
