Doggie Day Spaw

The Doggie Day Spa is quite a find, especially if you hate dropping your dog off for 4 or 5 hours for grooming! Rhonnie is amazing with animals and does a fantastic job. Your dog will get individualized attention and treated with loving, expert care. Once you go to the Doggie Day Spaw, you and your doggie are spoiled forever!

Rhonnie is the best. My little girl Margot is always so full of excitement as we approach the Day Spaw, she absolutely loves going to see the groomer, and this makes me very happy. My other little guy, Peanut, is a bit of a difficult pup at times. He is very sensitive about his personal space, but he has never had any issues with Rhonnie. Rhonnie is very professional, and very gentle with both of my animals. Her grooming capabilities also speak for themselves. After each visit Margot and Peanut have very luxurious fur, nicely trimmed nails and are in great spirits. The Day Spaw is a great place to drop off your animal, Rhonnie is very kind and trustworthy. I will continue bringing my dogs here for as long as I am located in San Francisco.

I’ve been taking my 90 pound Labradoodle, Hudson, to Rhonnie for several years. I met her when she was grooming for WAG Hotel in San Francisco and followed her when she opened her own grooming business — Doggie Day Spaw. Rhonnie is an amazing and talented groomer who knows her craft and is phenomenal with Hudson. You can tell by a dog’s body language how they feel about a human and Hudson’s tail is always wagging when he sees Rhonnie every 2 weeks. She has solved a chronic issue we’ve had with (sorry for the image) excessively waxy inner ears by experimenting with various products until she found the best one for Hudson. Hudson and I LOVE Rhonnie and wouldn’t consider another groomer.

My sweet dog came in for matting removal, I was charged $ 200 for the service. Rhonnie was transparent about her pricing so to be fair I knew what I was getting into.
However my tiny dog was left with 5 separate cuts on her belly and back! This is absolutely not ok. The safety of the dogs is compromised, and I would not recommend this place to anyone.
There are several other reviews here making the same statement about there dog being cut. Yet this place still has 5 star reviews? Beware…

Wow! If you are looking for a groomer in the city, I highly recommend the Doggie Day Spaw! The experience from start to finish has been 5*. I made our appointment online, then filled out a form with Jesses back ground and info. I also received confirmation via email and a friendly reminder of the appointment two days ago.
After a warm welcoming introduction when we arrived today, we discussed the cut and a time frame to return. I was also asked if I’d like a 20 mins to go text before Jess would be ready, which was very useful.
When I arrived back Jess looked amazing! The cut was perfect and to top it off Jess also had a pink Jingle bell round her neck — a fabulous touch.
I felt the whole experience was personal and Jess had been in great care. Jess was receiving compliments all the way home too!
Highly recommend and the price was great too!

I brought Rosie, a bichon/​maltese, in for a very short puppy cut due to severe matting (one ear was a bit crooked b/​c the matting was so bad). Rosie’s bichon hair curls and with two months of petting and washing she was in terrible shape.
Rhonnie gave her a great cut (frankly I was expecting her to come back with shaved patches) and Rosie is cute as a button and cool as a clam. When I picked her up from grooming she was so happy and I could tell she was feeling wonderful!
As a final touch, Rhonnie had adjusted her harness down a few inches to fit her now miniature frame, making sure she was safe before we headed back out into the streets. Always a great experience but this visit was extra special.

Wish I could designate zero stars. Brought my sweet Maltipoo here half a dozen times. Last time I went in (after hassling for parking) to pick my Sammy, I was told he «got nicked while cutting off a mat on his belly. I called my vet and he said to put on neosporin and keep area clean.» I was then charged for the service. Hmmm…
The next day I took Sammy into the ER where he got sedation, stitches, and antibiotic injection. Rhonnie paid for the $ 416 bill and refunded the service as the vet recommended buying a bite not collar. He needed to avoid licking his stitches for two weeks!
The following two weeks involved constant supervision as the cone and collar made Sammy feel punished. I also got to clean up after his urine puddles for two weeks on my floor as he didn’t have the best bladder control due to stitches.
If you want your dog child traumatized, stitched up, and peeing all over your home then go here. If not, pay the same price in a nicer neighborhood and save your pup’s belly and skin!

Even though Rambo HATES getting his nails clipped, Rhonnie still manages to trim the little thrasher’s talons. In fact, Rambo has such a good time when he’s at Doggie Day Spaw, not only does he not want to leave when he’s finished, but also he wants to go back there every time we walk by her apt building door! (We live a block away, so we often walk by her place along our walk routes.) In addition to the wide array of services that are offered in a crate free environment, I also really love that you can very easily schedule appts online. We are super happy we found Doggie Day Spaw and will be going back to Rhonnie for all of Rambo’s grooming needs.

Man, it’s hard finding a dog groomer in the city that knows how to handle your furball and treats them with kindness. And actually enjoys doing what they do!
I found Rhonnie through Unilocal.And I haven’t been let down. And what’s truly awesome, is that you can book appointments online by going through a simple registration process. And what’s awesomer is that she takes credit cards, versus many groomer’s that either take cash or check or debit.
Rhonnie runs her business at a Live/​Work loft. Which is pretty awesome because she pays attention to one dog at a time and doesn’t cage your dog. The loft & grooming area is your dogs oyster! Usually, Ryo is not very fond of going to the groomers. He smells them from miles away and can get very stubborn. But, he seemed rather happy whenever we arrived at Rhonnie’s. So happy, that he ended up having an accident at her loft, which she sweetly and politely said was okay and cleaned up after. (I wasn’t too pleased with Ryo though)
We’ve dropped him off extremely hairy & dirty and he’s always come home super clean, fresh smelling and well groomed. She asks if there is anything in particular that we’d like more attention on or if your dog is allergic to anything. Basically, she likes being well informed about your pooch.
And within 2 hours of dropping him off, you’d get a call from her that says your dog is ready for pick up in 10 mins. Come by! Versus waiting for 4 hours + at a mass groomer.
The only reason I am giving 4 instead of 5 stars is because it is a little on the expensive side. So far, in the years I’ve had Ryo, his grooming charges come to an average of $ 65. Rhonnie’s prices tend to be at $ 100+ for a medium sized dog like Ryo (35lb poodle mix with a lot of hair). I don’t know if that’s a city thing now.
But I do appreciate the attention she pays to the dog when it’s there :)

I was able to get an appointment at 11 PM on a Sunday night for Tuesday.
I dropped off Pokey at 12:30 PM. Rhonnie buzzed me in and asked me about Pokey’s skin sensitivity and skin allergies that should watch out for. AWESOME! Pokey walked in and was comfortable, he didn’t even try to run out after me when I left. love that they are cage free and I know that Pokey is well taken care of. When I picked Pokey up, Rhonnie gave me updates on Pokey to let me know how he did during the day. Thank you so much Rhonnie. Pokey came home smelling awesome with his nails cut and his teeth brushed.
Will definitely recommend everyone to Rhonnie.
Only con: Parking is hard to find.

I don’t want to say anything too negative because I think Rhonnie is very professional and I still love her cage free environment for the pups! But, as a doggie mama, I have to warn others about the severe cuts my poor baby Bronx had come home with yesterday. If I had seen his cuts when I picked him up, I would have made a bigger deal about paying $ 125 for both the dogs. Rhonnie did an amazing job the first time around. This second time, I’m disappointed. I understand my dog (maltipoo) was matted so I would let tiny little scratches from the blades pass but the amount of cuts and how big the cuts were, isn’t acceptable. I feel like a horrible dog mother for allowing him to get hurt :(he’s been licking them nonstop since I brought him home.

Rhonnie is great. I took my 12-​lb terrier mix, Ellie, to Rhonnie for a full groom service (bath, nail trim, ears, haircut) last month for $ 55.
Rhonnie asked me what I wanted done and was very sweet with Ellie. She called me about an hour or two later to let me know that Ellie would be ready in 10 minutes. When I picked her up, she was so happy, and wagging her tail, which has never happened before after a groom (she usually looks traumatized). Rhonnie made sure to ask for feedback on the cut (I had none, it was perfect). I will definitely be back and highly recommend Rhonnie for a groom! It’s a relief to know that my dog is good hands.

EXCELLENT WORK! So glad I found Rhonnie on Unilocal!My last experience at a prior groomer didn’t go so well. Apparently my lil guy was too much to handle, so they did not get to groom him, and I still had to pay. I’m willing to take the travel to San Francisco for Rhonnies work. Planning to take my yorkie to her soon! I highly reccommend Doggie Day Spaw to everyone!

Rhonnie is A-​M-​A-​Z-​I-​N-​G! A true dog grooming whisperer. She magically turned my very squirmy, matted and dirty Maltipoo into perfection. I’m very impressed with how quick she works (full-​grooming took about an hour) yet how detailed and precise she is. I highly recommend Doggie Day Spaw:

Doggie Day Spaw is a very convenient location for me — I work in SOMA and Day Spa is by Harrison and 5^th. Parking was pretty easy in the area. They work in a Live/​Work loft so it feels like you’re going over to someone’s home (which you are!). You buzz #6 to get in and they are located one the 1^st floor at the end of the hallway.
I was able to call in get in on the same day. Will definitely be taking advantage of online booking in the future. They were fast (compared to my previous experiences where I had to wait around indefinitely… i.e. 5 hours+ at VIP groomers) and flexible (I had a last minute work meeting around pick up time and couldn’t come right then and there).
They seem like true dog lovers and did a very through job — understood my desires for the haircut and did a great job. What makes a good cut? No harm to the dog (nicks, cuts). Haircut as desired (length, doggie looks cute). All the specifics done (trim tail, clean feet, trim ears, nails, etc.) and it doesn’t look like a hack job (even cut, good shape).
I have a mini golden doodle (28 lbs) and I paid $ 80 plus tip. I would highly recommend them and glad to have found a new spot!

Rhonnie did an amazing job with my little yorkie. My old groomers place was getting a little expensive and every time I go there they always do a mediocre job.
First off, I am really happy that I could get an early morning weekend appointment within the week. The online booking system is really easy to use. They answer questions and confirm your appointment within the hour. I didn’t think it was weird at all going into their home. It was very welcoming and Rhonnie’s husband was very friendly. T-​Bone the dog greeter was so very friendly to my tiny yorkie! It only took over an hour and only cost me $ 50. They also gave my yorkie a cute bandana :) I am so HAPPY that I found Doggie Day Spawe!
I totally recommend this place!

Best groomer that I’ve encountered so far! I tried out Doggie Day Spaw after I was fed up with the logistical difficulties of taking my Shih Tzu mix Rufus to my previous groomer, and I could not be happier with the switch.
–Communication and appointment scheduling was easy. Even as a new client, Rhonnie replied to my emails (through the website) promptly. (Update: The online scheduling system is awesome!)
–The location is clean and cage-​free. It’s actually Rhonnie’s home– buzz in (#6) through the front gate, go up the stairs and all the way down the first hallway. She and her husband (and their bulldog!) are very friendly and welcoming. When I picked up Rufus afterwards, he was happily running around their loft.
–They are fast! Rhonnie estimated 1.5 hours for a complete groom, but I got the call that he was done just over 1 hour later. This is such an improvement over what I’m used to, which is waiting 4+ hours and wondering what the heck the groomer is doing (or not doing) to Rufus.
–Great work– Rufus’s haircut looked exactly as I wanted, and he smelled clean but not overly perfumed.
–Very reasonable price. We were charged $ 50 for a complete groom, which is a steal around here. I was paying $ 68 at the previous groomers.

so just everyone knows, this is the location of Rhonnie’s loft. It is not a store but her home still 5 stars is neccesary. I picked this place because it was close to my place and also becaues of the reviews. I was a little surprised needless to say when we dropped our pup off. However she was very professional and said he would be done in an hour. Sure enough in a hour, the pup was ready.
Why a 5?
1. price — I always take our pup to petsmart because other groomers in the city are insane but Rhonnie is reasonable and inline. We got him a basic bath and toothbrush — only $ 20!
2. clealiness — Dog hair gets messy but her place was still very clean
3. Equipment. She has all the equipment of any grooming salon.
4. I like the fact that Stitch was just hanging out with the other dogs when we went to get him. he wasnt caged up at all.
Needless to say I’ll be back. oh and did I mention after 10 visits of any kind, you get 50% off the next service?
