Dragon Beaux

I’m not impressed. My friend was raving about the dim sum there, but I think it’s more for looks than anything. I had their vegetarian dumplings, their yuba dish, and we also had their sauteed romaine lettuce. I wasn’t able to try the mushroom buns, cute as they were, since they also included chicken.
There’s a number of dishes for vegetarians, but this isn’t, by any means, my pick for lunch.
We also came back for dim sum one night, and I made an open table reservation for 8:45 PM. We arrived at 9 and the place was empty. While the food was fine, service was really anxiety-​inducing. One of our servers wanted to get us out, it was very clear, and it was last call the second we sat down. We tried to quickly make a decision and make sure we had what we needed since we couldn’t order more. Let’s be clear that there was only one other party besides ourselves, but they were clearly shutting down the restaurant, despite it being 1 hour before official restaurant closing.
The szechuan broth I had picked was WAAAY salty. I didn’t even need the dipping sauces. I have to remember to ask them to dilute the broths before cooking. At the end, when settling our bill, we realized we hadn’t received the pea sprouts we had ordered, and one of the servers argued that we had. Ugh. They finally took it off and also gave us a coupon for $ 7.90 off our next visit. The other server was really helpful throughout the meal, but almost to a fault. She kept coming by to «help» us cook our stuff, which was really annoying. You’re looking at three Asians. We know how to do this.
To be honest, this was such a tense experience I wouldn’t want to come back. I am sure I can get just as good hot pot/​dim sum elsewhere.

I bookmarked this place since I saw the Rainbow Baos and I finally had the chance to visit and try Dragon Beaux’s food!!!
The sad part: I wanted all of the dim sum, but they only serve dim sum up until 3pm.
The good part: We tried a few dim sum items and their hot pot!
We tried the Sea Bass dumpling which was something I’ve never had before. Good presentation, juicy, and yummy. We also tried the Fried Milk which is sweet. It’s like… a creamy milk pudding that has been fried. I enjoyed both.
The hot pot was delicious. We chose a combo pot which included a number of meats and a huge veggie bowl. They provide egg noodles for you, but they don’t give you a spoon so you can’t access your broth. I’m sure you can ask for a spoon, I didn’t.
Overall, good experience but would have LOVED to eat more of their dim sum. I’ll be back.

I asked my friend, who lives in this area, «Did you go try Dragon Beaux, yet? It’s in your neighborhood». She said, «What? Where?» I said, «Its on Geary, near you. It’s so good!» She said, «What does it tastes like?» I said, «It’s just good!!! I can’t explain but it’s good!!!» She ponders for a moment… «OH YES! I know what your talking about. It’s good!» I say, «Yes, it’s good!!»
I don’t know how to explain it any better, the dim sum is just GOOD! Fresh, tasty, plump, delicate, and just plain good good good. Me and my mom drove 40 minutes from Oakland just to taste this goodness on a Friday afternoon. We got there at exactly 12 pm and they didn’t have any 2 seaters left. The waiter asked us if we wanted to share a table, I was hesitant to share but my mom said she didn’t mind. That’s how we ended up sitting in a table for 10 with 3 couples sitting at the same table, ignoring each other professionally but thoughtfully.
We ordered hai gow, soup with deep fried dumpling, lo bok gow, nai mai gai, fung jow, bbq pork apple pie and the best egg lava bun in the world. It was hot, gooey, ooey, and tasted soooo good! So goooood!!! If you love-​a those lava buns, then don’t miss out on an order or two. We ordered 2 orders! One to love-​a the lava later! It took us about an hour to eat and leave. And I would like to come back some day… when I’m in the mood for another 40 minutes drive into the city, that is.
NOTES: Décor was so pretty. Dark. But very elegant, sophisticated and pretty. Service was good. They didn’t forget any of our orders and were prompt on everything. Bathroom fail — there’s only 2 small stalls and the line can be torture for such a large restaurant. Meter parking only. I imagine the weekends are super hard to find parking.

Dinner review.
Dim sum options were limited. Tasty, but limited. A lot of rant & rave over the squid ink dumplings so I had to try it. It was unique, but not out of the ordinary if you’ve been around the block with dim sum restaurants in California.
My favorite was the Ziou Zhou seafood chow fun. Shrimp, clams, squid, albacore, mixed with bell peppers & onions.
We were surrounded by hot pot connoisseurs throughout dinner, best believe I’ll be back, with an updated hot pot review.

So we’re in the area and we decided we want dim sum; Unilocaled this place (duh) and we saw the colorful xiao long baos (soup dumplings)! This of course caught my eye and made me want to check it out.
Okay so I’m new to the city, and parking here sucks! So many people not enough space. I decided to drop my best friend off and circle around the block about twenty times before I found a spot.
Fortunately when I was done, she said she was at the front of the line, so I scurry on in. It’s COMPLETELY full in the waiting room. Why? You guys think waiting in here will get you closer to your table? Like relax, wait outside bro. Everyone here super Chinese. Straight b face on shoving you. Wow what a start.
Okay so we get in, NICE! Décor so pretty and so many tables and chairs… Did I mention there’s so many tables and chairs? SO MUCH that the dim sum cart didn’t lap around to where we were. So we had to order things by hand. Ugh. I wanted the whole cart experience, but whatever I guess. I’m here now right?
We got the crispy pork belly. And oh em gee. It was so perfect. The crispy skin to the ratio of the fatty and meat! Delicious ! This was my first dish, blew my mind, so I became excited to try more!
Next we got seafood dumpling. Yum! It fell apart though, but it was delicious! Topped with dried shrimp on top, and the skin was thin and not to doughy.
Following we got the steam bbq bun, super super super soft dough! Melts in your mouth. Loved it!
Then it was time… The pretty xlb came out. The green one was spinach skin and kale interior. I really wasn’t a fan. Eh maybe too healthy for me? But the dough itself for these xlb was too thick and doughy for my preference. Also tried the squid ink skin and black truffle! I loved the black truffle. Honestly can never go wrong. It’s like this buttery scrumptious dumpling! Those were the only two I tried.
Also we got the rice paper with duck. Eh pass on that too. There were rarely any rice paper so just basically duck but super heavy and loaded with broth. Very heavy. Too much for morning time.
The service wise. Hahah some people were nice and some people looked like they hated life.
All in all, meh. I would actually go again. But maybe on a weekday when it’s less crowded and hopefully the dim sum cart gets to me!

Lots of varieties. Not the normal dim sum you eat else where but of course price is higher. My favorites are the crab roe shumai, xiao long bao, abalone tart and xo spinach dumplings. Was too excited to try the salty dim sum that i was too full to try the sweet ones. Must try next time.
I didnt like the skin on some of the dumplings (squid ink), it was a bit too soft for me and the texture of the meat on beef shumai. But overall, if you want to try some exotic dimsum and dont mind the price then its a must go!

ENVIRONMENT:
Extremely clean and well decorated. All tables and chairs are is prime condition, like new.
FOOD:
We ordered the mid-​autumn winter melon set. It was fun to see a whole winter melon boiling in our hot pot. Food was good quality and authentic. The highlights of the meal was the geoduck (as expected) and fried rice. Their signature fried rice that came with our set was sooooo good! It was probably my favorite dish and I would definitely recommend it even if you’re just there for lunch! The pork slices and «pork belly» (so thin it looks like store bought bacon) was bland — not much flavor and must have sauce added on top. The sauces are what you’d expect from hot pot except the peanut sauce literally looks, smells, and tastes like peanut butter
SERVICE:
Manager was pretty nice but he offered and forgot to give us a Chinese translation of the special menu for our older family member who can’t read English. Assistant manager/​supervisor (in black suit) was not so helpful. He kind of rushed our order and didn’t listen to what he wanted unless it adds to our bill. He didn’t explain the order very clearly and just didn’t match the rest of the restaurant. He also never served us tea (we were tealess for like 10 minute until another staff came after he left with our order). All other staff were attentive and accommodating especially employee 0277 without an English name. He was very friendly and sweet — he periodically checked on us to help us cut the winter melon.
PRICE:
We ordered the mid-​autumn winter melon set for $ 168. Feels like a rip off for 4 people since we paid the same price that 6 people would have. You only get one hot pot for that price, one oyster per person. We asked for two hot pots since we had a large table and one of us was pescatarian but the assistant manager/​supervisor who took our order kept pushing us to «add soup» for $ 12. I don’t want to add soup, I just want another hot pot boiling! It took forever to cook everything in just one hot pot Like seriously $ 168 for 4 – 6 people and you’re only allowed one hot pot?! wtf???

Expect a long wait on the weekends, so I suggest coming early! Parking is limited, there are a lot of metered parking around but on the weekends the neighborhood gets really busy.
They have unique looking dim sum, which was probably why I decided to give this place a try. However, it’s a little more pricey compared to other dim sum restaurants around. My favorite was the abalone tart, crispy on the outside and tender in the inside! I also recommend the durian puff, the smell may or may not be preferred for some people but if you can handle eating durian you’ll love this puff! It’s super creamy in the inside!

I’ve been wanting to go here for awhile, and with the crowds of people constantly waiting outside to be seated, I wondered if it was worth all the hype.
Walking in, we got our number. Overhead, there was a tv screen that showed how many groups were in front of us as well as how long each group has been waiting. We had the option of being seated right away if we were willing to share a table, but we decided on our own table. The wait wasn’t too long, only about 20 minutes.
The décor was gorgeous. it’s definitely the perfect place for a special occasion.
As for the food, there’s a ton of options to pick from. What I love was that their dumplings are all so unique. For instance, they had Shanghai dumpling with the outer wrap made with squid ink, beet, spinach, classic, and turmeric. They had black truffle mushroom bao. And of course, they had the usual shrimp dumplings and shui mai. And the durian puffs were a must have.
While the food was absolutely gorgeous, I felt that the food didn’t stand out compared to other dim sum places in the area. For the price that I paid for the food, I expected the taste to be amazing and memorable. But while the dishes were Instagram worthy, the flavors disappointed a little.
I was also frustrated by the little condiments they provided us. We had to ask for soy sauce and they gave us just a little and chili sauce just wasn’t enough.
I would come back in the future to try some of their other unique dumplings.

After seeing the wonderfully filtered pictures of dim sum dumplings on Unilocal,I was drawn towards this restaurant to satisfy my dumpling cravings on this windy Monday evening. Added incentive was that this is from the makers of the famous Koi Palace that I’ve never had the pleasure of dining at because it’s so goddamn busy.
Arrived here expecting dim sum, but the waiter said «regular food or hot pot table?» I was taken aback but said hot pot table because aren’t those tables coveted at hot pot places? My friend and I were give what appeared to be three different menus, some forms that looked like application forms, and we struggled to find a menu that was written in English. So many choices to choose from… all you can eat dinners from meat lovers choices, seafood hot pot, or ox tail menu (which is similar to meat lovers menu with more meat). Then there’s the a la cart hot pot menu, then there’s small eats (appetizers) menu, and then there’s a bunch of menus written in Chinese which I assume are the secret Chinese menus. When I asked for dim sum, they gave me another menu written in Chinese but I asked for English menu, they sent the Mexican waiter to give it to me the English menu. I felt exhausted with the whole ordering process but we settled in the meat lovers all you can eat hot pot for $ 26 per person and ordered some dumplings, and duck tongue.
I don’t know much about hot pot vs shabu shabu but the broths we chose were great — Szechuan spicy broth and the 12 hour bone broth. The portions were generous… even the duck tongue appetizer. Felt like there were 40 tongues there and I started to think about how many ducks had to sacrifice their tongues for this one dish as I’ve never even seen 40 ducks all together at once :/​
The service was friendly and we were offered a coupon for the next return. For the price and quality of the veggies and meat, we were already planning for the next dinner at Dragon Beaux. Maybe one day, I’ll be lucky enough to catch the dim sum brunch on the weekends.

Stuck between a 3 to a 4.
Food is decent but not standout from a cheaper hole-​in-​the-​wall Chinese restaurant. Interior is really purdy though. So you’re paying for that.
Mapo tofu: ³⁄₅. Bland and not spicy enough. Asked for it EXTRA spicy. Still wasn’t nearly spicy enough.
Wagyu beef with Sesame: ³⁄₅. Very tasty (sesame pouches wouldn’t open but were buttery and delicious) but there was barely any wagyu to justify the price. Tiny flecks sandwiched between a bunch of scallions.
Squid ink dumpling: ⁵⁄₅. This was the standout for me. Salty (sea-​tasting) but had pork inside.
Egg yolk bun: ⁴⁄₅. Extremely sweet (mouthful of creamy sugar with each bite). Like a delicious mini-​cake.
Pea shooters: ³⁄₅. Very standard. No one told us there would be shrimp inside.
Oh yeah and service is definitely par for the course for a Chinese restaurant. Just get used to it. There are people milling around — just flag them down. If you go to China, that’s how it works. You get used to yelling «serviceperson!» in Chinese to get some attention.

Dragon Beaux, as in Dragon Lover or Dragon Admirer?
Strange restaurant name, but decent, though expensive, dim sum lunch. Expect more than three times your average hole in the wall dim sum prices. Dragon Beaux classes up their dim sum with higher quality ingredients and presentation, and the extravagant, upscale ambiance shows for it too.
Dim sum is served during lunch only, and the weekend wait times can be long. For a group of two, we had no wait on a Saturday at 2pm, an hour before closing, but we shared a large family-​style round table with two other couples.
The main dish that urged me to visit Dragon Beaux was their «five guys» xiao long baos: a bamboo steamer with five different flavored XLBs served in their own individual spoons. The variety of original, turmeric crab roe, spinach kale, squid ink black truffle, and beet were all tasty and distinct in flavor, with a thin, chewy skin encompassing a good amount of flavored soup and meaty pork. These were not as tasty as Paradise Dynasty’s in Hong Kong, as Paradise Dynasty’s have more flavor variety (eight as opposed to five, for almost the same price), but Dragon Beaux’s is a decent alternative.
My must order for dim sum restaurants is baked bbq pork buns. Here, the pork filling was plentiful, more sweet than savory. A little greasy/​oily on the bottom, but with delicate, crispy topping, these baked bbq pork buns were good, but not comparable to Hong Kong Lounge’s (which is my personal favorite in SF).
The shrimp rice crêpe roll had jumbo, juicy, and succulent shrimp with a hint of white pepper for a kick. The rice roll was silky smooth with a nice bite.
The English + Chinese menu is pretty straightforward — mark off which items you want, and then the servers will bring them out to your table. Occasionally there are other servers walking around with some items (mainly baked/​fried sweets), and you can request them too. Service is decent for a Chinese restaurant, and dim sum is delicious too. However, I still prefer Hong Kong Lounge few blocks east.

Bougie af dimsum place (also serves hot pot). I got here 15 minutes after it opened on a Sunday, and there was already a pretty fat line. Waited about 50 minutes for a group of 6.
Décor is pretty nice, classy. Service is pretty meh but what else can you expect from a dim sum place. They also have a little candle on the table to help keep your teapot warm. Also, they charge per person for the tea.
They have a pretty large menu which you can order directly from or you can accept some of the plates from the ladies walking around. Just to expedite the process, I would order from the menu (also you have more control over what you order). My friends and I ended up ordering waaaay too much food.
Of course, we got the famous colorful XLB (Five Guys on the receipt, lol). One set for each person (probably a bit extensive…) in addition to one order of just regular XLB. To be honest with you, there are mild flavor differences in each of the dumplings but nothing too out of this world significant. Really, its mostly there for the IG/​Snapchat, lets be real. Fair amount of broth per dumpling. Each dumpling comes in a classy small spoon to catch all your beloved broth in. Plus, the carrot slice at the bottom prevents it from sticking so you don’t accidentally prematurely rip your dumpling skin. In the future, would probably just order one for the table and a bunch of the regular one to share. The yellow one (crab I think) is the best one.
Best part of the meal was probably the fried chinese donut stuffed with shrimp paste in a rice paper wrap. So good! The sauce they pour on it is sweet which complements the savoryness of the dish. Texture of the donut and shrimp paste were perfect together. All of us were pretty wowed by this dish.
Everything else was decent across the board — no real complaints. We did order some egg tarts, and these were the first to come out which was kind of annoying because sweet things are always preferred towards the end of the meal. By the time we finished everything else, these had cooled significantly. Daikon rice cakes could have been pan fried a bit longer. DTF prob still owns that dumpling game, but the ones here are not half bad.
Total bill (including tip) came out to about $ 190. We ordered probably close to 20 dishes though. Overall consensus: would definitely come back here, but be mindful of the wait. Also, I would probably pay better attention to how many dishes I order to make sure not to over-​do it… but everything looks so good!

I previously reviewed dim sum here. This update is for dinner. Dinner at Dragon Beaux has a hodge podge of options, including hot pot, seafood, poultry, appetizers, and limited dim sum.
We had an Australian crab for $ 20/​lb. (Dungeness was also on the menu for the same price, which seemed like a good price.) Our crab was billed at 2lb. It felt small, perhaps because the shell to meat ratio was high. The meat was sweet, but the thin legs (thinner than my fingers) and brittle shell made it harder to eat than Dungeness.
We got a la carte hot pot with 2 types of broth: kombu sake miso and spicy Sichuan. The spicy Sichuan was pretty greasy even for spicy Sichuan broth. (They didn’t give us soup ladles, so it probably wasn’t meant to be drunk.) There were no charges for broth, and we also got 5 types of sauce (satay, soy sauce + scallion, garlic, peanut, chili) for free. There are other sauces you can get for an extra $ 2 each. Prices per ingredient were a bit high, ranging from $ 4-​$ 8 for mushrooms and vegetables to $ 6-​$ 12 for seafood and meat, with higher prices for premium ingredients. All the ingredients were clean and fresh.
For hot pot, you can also do AYCE for $ 32 per person Sunday through Thursday nights. In hindsight, AYCE is probably almost always a better deal than ordering a la carte. You can also order from a few set menu options that span a wide range of prices.
Service was good. They changed our plates way more times than necessary. Everyone was pleasant, especially for a Chinese restaurant.
Complimentary dessert of French vanilla ice cream over almond jelly.

DO NOT ORDER IN CHINESE HERE UNLESS YOU ACTUALLY KNOW CHINESE. Yeah, I’m looking at you, Shawn C.
What intended to be a quick, «let’s check this place out cause it’s convenient and walking distance,» type of dinner for our group of five turned into a whopping $ 55 per person meal!
Shawn C. was mostly to blame, as we got sweet-​talked/​persuaded/​tricked into ordering quail and live shrimp, which were around ~$ 30 and ~$ 70, respectively. I have no idea what they were taking about since I don’t understand Mandarin, but once he told us he ordered live shrimp I knew it was game over.
However, I do admit the shrimp was delicious. I believe they were either boiled or steamed spot prawns, with their eggs still attached. YUM! We shared a few other dishes: noodles, veggies, dim sum for dinner, and they were all good as well. They also have some of the prettiest dim sum I’ve ever laid my eyes on.
Will be back for more pretty dim sum, and not the live shrimp!

To say that I’m not going to mention the bill is a lie because I’m mentioning it by mentioning it. It wasn’t cheap but you kind of expect it as such when you go for hot pot, no?
Anyway, my mom took me here for my birthday on a Tuesday night. When she told me, I was pretty excited because I had seen pretty pictures of the colorful soup dumplings on Unilocal so I scoured the menu for that but I couldn’t find it. I didn’t ask or anything because we had other tummy-​filling plans, so don’t take this like they don’t offer the dumplings on Tuesday night — ask and let me know if you get it? Thanks.
So my mom had made reservations for the Winter Melon Hot Pot, which was amazing! In hot pot, the soup is an important part of your experience — and the winter melon made it pleasing to the stomach and the eyes. It’s really a hollow winter melon being cooked in the pot — and you cook the food in the MIDDLE of the melon. Before you start, they cut the top so winter melon is included and you get a little more cooking room. They also scooped up some of the soup for you. And it’s delicious.
You have the options of getting all you can eat for a fixed price — for these places, I always assume that leftovers will be counted against you but I don’t remember, honestly. The other option is a la carte, which is what we did. We had enough, and more for days of leftovers.
Once you’re done, they pack everything up for you so you can take ALL of it home to cook some more. It was worth it. An interesting experience, the Winter Melon Hot Pot, and I’d do it again for sure!

While HK Lounge basks in most of the dim sum hype in SF, the lesser-​known Dragon Beaux is tucked a few blocks away in the Outer Richmond. DB is the type of trendy dim sum place that caters to bouge SF tastes for those savvy enough to avoid the overpriced Hakkasan but trendy enough to avoid the mainstream HK Lounge.
They are owned by the same people as Koi Palace in Daly City, and the style is indeed similar and some of the specialties overlap, such as the duck burrito and spinach seafood dumplings. DB can be thought of as KP’s slightly more adventurous counterpart, especially since it moonlights as a shabu place at night.
[1 | THE SWANKY AMBIANCE] Looks like a movie set and/​or royalty. Dark shadowy lighting, wall décor that looks like tapestries of cherry blossoms, elegant chandeliers, fancy touches like the grid display of porcelain vases – in short, upscale compared to Chinese restaurants with questionable cleanliness and scary fish tanks.
[2 | THE ARTISAN DIM SUM] Yes, I would call it artisan… (and no, it’s not BBQ avocado bao toast and cold brew jasmine tea served in mason jars).
(+) BBQ pork buns ($ 5): Standard
(++) Crab roe shiu mai ($ 5): Meaty juicy pork. Good flavor and not too fatty
(++) Five Guys XLB ($ 10): Pricey at $ 2/​XLB and flavors are not quite as distinct as colorful XLB I’ve had in Asia. Among the different variations of regular, beets, tumeric/​crab roe, squid ink/​black truffle, spinach/​kale, my favorite is the squid ink. And yes, I’m also confused about what that kale is doing in my dim sum. The individual spoons are very clever so the skins won’t break, but it could have used more and richer broth.
(+) BBQ pork ($ 7): A little too dry and some fatty cuts, but tasty
(++) Tuxedo garlic pork belly ($ 7): Probably the bougiest of all the dim sum here; it’s minced pork with garlic, wrapped in a very thin slice of white pork. The roll style, especially being pork-​on-​pork, is an interesting take. The flavor profile turned out even more interesting, flipped in being predominantly garlicky with porky overtones. Personally I was fascinated, but my parents scorned the non-​traditional rendition
(+++) Steamed turnip cake ($ 5): Comforting, comes with a nice variety of toppings, mostly turnip, not too starchy
(+++) Rainbow taro paste buns ($ 6): So good! Mildly sweetened, lots of taro, extremely photogenic. After inhaling my bun, I actually got another order to-​go to bring back to the boo
(+++) Wild mushroom & black truffle buns ($ 6): Cutest and most creative dim sum I’ve ever seen! It’s designed to look like shiitake with a marbled dark brown and white top (though my friend thought it was Oreo bao…), complete with a short stub of dough that looks exactly like the mushroom stem. The mushroom filling was surprisingly good
(++) Organic oolong tea ($ 1.25 each): I usually don’t review the tea, but DB’s oolong is really good! Strong, aromatic, so satisfying that I actually wasn’t carving Sharetea afterwards.
In addition to some dim sum trays carried around, you can order from a a printed on glossy colorful paper with plenty of pictures. The staff also speak English/​Canto/​Mandarin, so you’re not obliged to come here with your go-​to Canto dim sum friend. The English names of all the dishes sound like they’ve been painstakingly refined and written by a food critic journalist. Everything sounds so aesthetically pleasant… except I still don’t know how I feel about the name chicken paw.
[3 | THE SF-​NESS] Prices are a little higher, but in comparison to the generally pricey food scene of SF, it’s quite reasonable. The quality and cooking technique here is sufficient such that fine dining could probably take any given item from DB, put it on a large plate, garnish with an artsy smear of sauce, and charge multiple times the price. Unlike the rest of SF, DB serves very good food for the price; sadly, like the rest of SF, the wait time can be insane if you come late, and parking can be nonexistent.

With Lunar New just around the corner, I always get cravings for some good Chinese food. So, I decided to head my way to Dragon Beaux to satiate my need for some good ol’ dim sum.
Located on the corner of 21^st Ave and Geary Blvd, this is one bustling spot.
It was early afternoon when I arrived. Normally there’s a line trailing out the door, but thankfully I was able to walk right in. I was greeted by the hostess and was immediately shown to my seat allllll the way in the back.
At first, I thought the seating arrangement was a little odd because they sat me in a nook behind a divider, but it actually worked out. I felt like I had my own private space with only two other ladies sitting to the side of me.
I was given a menu to order from and with so many options to choose from, my eyes grew much larger than my stomach. The little voice in my head convinced me that I could always take home whatever I don’t finish and have it for leftovers later.
Needless to say, that little voice didn’t have to do too much convincing before I was sold on the idea and threw all discretion to the wind. The aroma of BBQ’d pork and stewed soup was heavy in the air.
Now on to my order.
BBQ’d pork slices: Marinated to perfection. Sweet and very tender. The portion size was actually quite large and is great for sharing.
Roasted pork belly: The crispy skin and moist center made this dish so luxurious. The crisped skin was almost cracker-​like. Not greasy at all.
Concubine chicken: Nothing remarkable about this steamed chicken, but the accompanying ginger sauce made it quite tasty. You can really get this anywhere though.
Soy flavored chicken: I think this is a good staple protein to have at the table during dim sum. Not overly salted in the slightest. Very flavorful.
Wild Mushroom Bao: The steamed bao was very soft and doughy, but the mushroom filling wasn’t very flavorful.
Five Guy Xiao Long Bao: Now this dish is a winner! Presented in bright colors, it was just as much fun to eat as it was to look at. These baos were served in singular spoons of 5, all with different flavorings. When you do try this dish, make sure to place the entire thing in your mouth and be prepared for a gush of broth to pop out. It’s like having soup inside a dumpling! The broth is deliciously rich, yet very delicate in flavor. Loved it!
Crispy shrimp paste donut rice crêpe roll: What a doozy of a name, but pretty darn tasty. The textural points made this dish really great to eat. Moist, doughy, crispy all in one! These long stick donuts are chopped into bite sized pieces and covered with soft, steamed rice crepes, and spread with bits of shrimp paste to enhance the flavor. There’s also some soy sauce added on the side.
Pickled cucumber: I looooooove pickled items so naturally, this dish was one of my faves. It almost acted like a palate cleanser between each of the dim sum choices. Slightly sweet, not too sour, and really refreshing.
XO spinach dumplings: Mild in flavor, I didn’t think that this dish was really memorable.
Beef tripe: It looks kinda scary, but it’s so damn good! Served cold and it does have a bit of a kick because of the peppers. I enjoyed how tangy it was too.
Durian puffs: Golden pastry puff with slightly crispy, flaky skin, and filled with a glorious durian custard. Anyone who knows me knows that I’m drawn to pungent flavors and that I love durian no less. BUT, for those who are a little skittish about this funky fruit, I think this dish would be a great introduction to durian. The flavor isn’t «in your face.» Quite mild. Perhaps just plug your nose while enjoying this dessert and you’ll be fine.
At this point, I was already hitting a wall. So much food. This is the bad thing about dim sum, is that you are constantly tempted by all the food that’s floated around on carts. The server came and offered me Rainbow Taro Paste Baos, but at this point, I was already in a food induced coma.
Service was friendly, prices were decent. The restaurant is huge so for smaller parties, you should be able to get a seat right away. Good variety of dim sum selections. They bagged all my leftovers very quickly.

Yesterday, we met my daughter in San Francisco at Dragon Beaux for dim sum. At 11.45 am the place was packed but we were seated right away. The menu is extensive and our cravings far out weighed our ability to eat. I have been wanting to try their dim sum any was blown away with the quality. We ordered the following:
Daikon Purée 5 stars steamed in a bowl with tons of dried scallops, shrimp, and pork bits.
Roast Pork 5 stars banquet quality. Excellent
Geoduck Clam Congee 5 stars on the special menu $ 32
XO Sauce Dumplings 5 stars steamed shu mai style dumplings with XO sauce on top
Sand deep fried Pork Ribs 5 stars meaty and super tender
Pickled Chicken Feet 5 stars 95% boneless sour sweet spicy big chicken paws
Mala seafood dumplings 5 stars seafood dumplings in a spicy Mala sauce
5 Guys XLB. 4 stars nice presentation not much difference is taste not the best XLB
Shrimp Chow Fun 4 stars
Black bean sauce steamed Pork Ribs 4 stars
Chinese broccoli 4 stars
Service was excellent. Street parking. Go early get parking get a seat and enjoy the dim sum. The best dim sum I have had in the USA in the last couple of years.
*** Note if it is raining the restaurant floor is like skating on ice, the restrooms floor is even more slippery.

Ahh Geary. Inutile de se le cacher, nous sommes quand même dans un quartier habité par une majorité asiatique. Le Hong Kong lounge n’est pas loin et Dragon Beau (qui est un jeu de mot avec «Dragon boat» pour ceux qui né l’auraient pas compris) cherche clairement à lui piquer une partie de sa clientèle. Apparemment, il s’agit ici de la première enseigne appartement à un restaurant de Daly city célèbre pour son dim sum. En conséquence…

… Il vous faudra attendre à l’entrée. En tout cas la file d’attente devant l’entrée durant le weekend né laisse pas de doute. Réservez à l’avance, ou prenez votre ticket et allez patienter au Starbuck du coin. Une fois assis, une carte géante vous sera présentée. Chaque plat est servi accompagné de sa sauce contrairement à la majorité des enseignes qui vous laisse avec la traditionnelle sauce soja-​tue-​moi-​le-​goût: j’ai apprécié.
Sur la nourriture en elle-​même, c’est un dim sum très classique, avec une présentation soignée, des plats tous sortis du four et un niveau d’huile plutôt dans la normale.
Les prix sont légèrement élevés, alors forcément ça fait jaser pour de la nourriture chinoise normalement peu chère. Pour ma part, j’ai apprécié le confort et l’aspect soigné de l’endroit, cela né me dérange pas de sortir quelques dollars de plus pour cela.
En revanche, pitié: arrêtons avec cette musique qui reprend les tubes à la sauce musique classique chinoise, c’en est presque indécent.
En bref, un très bon endroit pour le brunch du week-​end. Avec des prix qui vous empêcherons de trop vous goinfrer et de passer le reste de l’après-midi en sieste digestive.
