Scummy company trying to cash in on the ignorance of consumers in the «clean green» market.
I e-​mailed this company to obtain more information about their water bottle products, after reading a study that shows that most plastics — even most of the alternatives to the commonly-​known and infamous BPA — contain chemicals that have estrogenic activity, also known as EA. That study can be found here:
EarthLust claims to use a «safe» chemical called polypropylene #5 in their water bottle lids/​caps. However, the study shows that some polypropylene — referred to in the study as «PP» — does still contain EA. My guess would be that it’s a difference in the manufacturing process that causes PP to be manufactured in such a way that it does not contain EA. The study also claims that the price of PP containing EA and PP that does not contain EA is virtually the same.
I sent an e-​mail to EarthLust to ask them if they could give me more information about the PP they use in their products, and whether or not it contains EA. Instead of giving me a clear answer, they dodged the question and provided the following canned response:
«Our caps are made from #5 non-​BPA-​based PP homopolymer. It is a very safe plastic to use in contact with food/​liquid. I hope this information is helpful in guiding you to make a decision.»
Well, as I have stated, after reading the study, it is clear that while PP *can* be a very safe plastic to use in contact with food/​liquid, it is most certainly not always safe. I replied 3 – 4 times to EarthLust’s e-​mail over multiple days to let them know that the response I received did not adequately address my question, and was met with silence.
Do NOT purchase anything from this company! Their shady business practices should be clear to anyone with a lick of common sense — they are incapable of definitively stating the safety of their product, either out of ignorance of whether or not their product is truly safe, or willful denial in the name of profits. Either way, they are potentially endangering the children who would drink from their bottles, and that is absolutely unforgivable.
Find yourself a company with more ethical business practices to buy your water bottles from if you truly want a safe product for yourself and your children. I know I will be.

Unfortunately I have to agree with Shelby below. We love their product but seven days ago I ordered a replacement top and the online site gave me an error twice.
Now my card has been charged twice, I have not received responses to two customer service emails, two voicemails, a twitter post, a Facebook post, and an email to the owner.
(I did immediately get a response from the PR person I emailed… who no longer has the company as a client)
I totally understand they are a tiny company with limited resources but all I ask for is an acknowledgement that they will get to my issue at some point. Right now I wonder if they are still in business.

I changed my review to 5 stars even after having an annoying groupon experience just because this company went above and beyond to make it up to me!
It’s a few months later and I still use these bottles every day. They are awesome!

My experience started off a little rocky. I had bought a groupon $ 25 for $ 50 deal and was unhappy that a few of my favorite choices were out of stock. However within 24 hours of contacting the company they had wrote back explaining and offering to ship me the one I had originally wanted in due time. The lady I spoke with was kind and down to earth. I appreciated their communication immensely and I have to say their designs are really unique! I haven’t received my bottle yet but I am sure I will love it! I am only giving 4 stars because of the lack of all their items being «in-​stock». Would recommend buying from this company for sure!

Sure, Earthlust water bottles are good looking. But the customer service is the worst I have ever encountered in my entire life. I ordered a liter water bottle with a sports cap back in February and was sent a sports cap of the incorrect size. I have tried to contact them NUMEROUS times. via email, phone, even TWITTER, and I have yet to receive what I paid for.
One time, someone finally picked up the phone, and promised me that my «order would be on it’s way». Much to my surprise, not a thing arrived in the mail from Earthlust.
It is unbelievable how the employees at Earthlust have time to be actively involved in social media outlets such as Facebook and Twitter, but don’t have the time to listen and respond to PAYING CUSTOMERS. After trying to contact this company for 7 months, I’m really regretting having chosen Earthlust over other companies such as Klean Kanteen. Nothing but disappointment.

Their bottles are hand made from high, food grade stainless steel, which is naturally safe unlined. They have all custom designs w/​non-​toxic paints and BPA-​free safe polypropylene caps. That rules.
They have diff sizes (13 ounce, 20 ounce and 1 liter). Each bottle comes with a cool lil’ metal carabineer. I got mine at Green Fest in SF, and another at Pharmaca in Albany.
I like it cause it’s a safe and stylish way to have a cold beverage near you at all times!
